I got banned today by the Big Orange Thingy

I wrote a diary last night and set it to auto publish at 8am this morning. Everything went as planned. Within an hour my diary was on the rec list. I left the house around 11:30am to go protest with MoveOn.Org at Senator Cruz's office here in Dallas, took some pictures, hung out for a while and then came back home, excited to write a new diary about protesting Senator Cruz. (I really despise Cruz).

Well, I get home, log in, check on the status of my morning diary and wow, it shot up the rec list and even got a hotlist, and was re-blogged by several different groups. (http://www.dailykos.com/stories/2016/3/21/1504173/-Manufacturing-Consent...)

It looks like there's a lively discussion going on but since I'm banned I can not participate. Ya know, it's not that I got banned per say, it's that I do not know why, nor even get a warning. Maybe this diary was the one that did it, but just took a few days for it to get through to Kos. http://www.dailykos.com/story/2016/03/16/1502305/-No-I-Will-Not-Yield-Th...

Have a great day and I'll post a new essay here about our protest at Senator Cruz's office earlier this morning. Thank y'all for welcoming me here.

Sincerely,

RR

took to pearl-clutching when this was revealed. I loved RR's response!

The vibe there is just so feudal. If you are banned, you cease to exist. It's as if there isn't any other Internet except for adversaries. And you cannot return with your original handle without falling on your knees and begging forgiveness, if even then.

Of *course* they get trolled. They're an ideal target because they carry on about it so much, and it's big enough that it's not particularly difficult to get back in if you're banned, whether you want to troll them or not.

However, it takes someone that "gets it" to understand and enjoy this humor. I would put him in the same category as Monty Python.

In both instances, these comedians (groups) understood the events of the day and from a historical stand point made fun of them. It is sad that people today do not understand or take the time to really enjoy this humor. Fortunately for me, I have my sons and cultivated them to understand and get this humor.

Hunters writing during the Bush regime. Figures he's married to Elffing. Now I don't even bother reading him what a waste of talent. MB is still a good writer even with the current restraints and censorship. I also like Egberto Willies I bet he's going to fly the coup if kos tries to rein him in. I also like Chancy De Vega. I can't believe kos would get rid of MB not even he is that stupid. MacJoan broke my heart I really liked her writing and the issues and policy she once tackled honestly.

The one I absolutely cannot abide is DEO. She is such a phony hypocritical nasty piece of work. She instigated the whole sick white privilege, racist, sexist, identity politics, witch hunting and guilt tripping atmosphere that prevails there to this day. She has a lot of nerve also flashing around her street cred (which I don't believe for a minute) and the trashing black activist's like Cornell West or anybody who dares to actually call out what's going down. She lives in up state NY and teaches (guilt trips) a bunch of white rich kids. I don't have a lot of respect for anyone who preaches victimization and tells you your a racist if you don't toe the racist establishment line. Sorry to go off here. Think I'll exit this thread as I'm getting all riled up just thinking about that cesspool.

I think there's something to the idea that we all have a bit of lingering racist/sexist ideas that are better rooted out.

Look at all the people who think cops aren't that much of a problem, "just do what you're told and you'll be all right". Social scientists have tested black, white, Hispanic, etc people and found that we all retain negative stereotypes of black people.

Look at Hillary, "We should have laws that limit late-term abortion," or Gloria Steinem, "Girls just go to Bernie rallies because that's where the boys are".

We don't want to be racist, sexist, etc., but only when you realize the cultural conditioning is still there in the back of your mind can you root it out. I don't agree with her on every point, but I feel like I learned a lot from Dee.

She also proved that she would unquestioningly, unthinkingly, and blindly support and promote any and all lies, smears, and negative views of Bernie Sanders, especially if they originated from another person of color. She recced, supported, and defended the odious Phoenix Woman poison pen diary (and viciously attacked anyone who questioned it) because it cited Dolores Huerta as a source and Saint Dolores wouldn't ever tell a lie. (She was eventually shamed into removing her rec, but it took weeks. And she has never apologized.)

That was beyond unforgivable.

Puddytat saynotohypocrisy Jun 24 · 01:18:16 PM
Because the party leadership has been abysmal. Outside of issuing press releases and daily fundraising appeals, they do nothing.

We have new leadership now. Hopefully, they'll work with grassroots organizations and create a better activist network throughout the state. And, hopefully, they'll stop with the corporate Democrat nonsense and start promoting the progressive values that are at the heart of Wisconsin.

You don't motivate the vote sitting in an office issuing press releases and "statements". You do it by being active throughout the state and listening to and engaging the voters.

Three days later she linked the comment in the diary where she formulated your sig (i deleted the link, cuz ... well ... you know):

When half or more of eligible voters stay home, they are not the problem. They just don't like the products on display. When I go to the grocery store and see a choice between crap cereal and shit cereal, I'm not buying cereal. It's not my problem, it's the cereal makers' problem.

There was a recent fine comment that noted that a failing business doesn't blame lazy customers for not showing up. Political parties and candidates could take a lesson from that and improve their products.

Pournelle's politics, if I recall correctly, are somewhere to the far right of Attila the Hun. And the increasing right-wing authoritarian slant in Niven's writing appears to date from approximately the period he started collaborating with Pournelle.

An old acquaintance of mine summed up their collaboration thusly:

Larry and Jerry were authors,
Both of them thought they could write.
Opened a bottle one morning,
Kept on drinking all through the night,
Said "Let's write a book
And let's make it lo-ong!"

Jerry set up the typewriter,
Larry set up some more drinks.
Jerry set up the plot outline,
Larry read it and he said, "It stinks!
But it's sure to sell,
So let's make it lo-ong!"

Larry said, "Put in some sex scenes!"
Jerry said, "Colonize space!"
Larry said, "Put in some women!"
Jerry answered, "If they know their place,
They can join our book -
They'll help make it lo-ong!

Larry and Jerry got published,
Got on the best-seller list,
Didn't get voted a Hugo
And our boys were really pissed -
Said "Them fans is creeps,
And their hair's too lo-ong!"

influence on Niven--I'll take your word for that--but I think A Mote in God's Eye is a masterpiece, a modern classic neither ever came close to duplicating alone. I find Pournelle alone to be workmanlike but dull, and Niven alone to be too wildly fanciful to convince me to suspend my disbelief. For once, co-authorship (not to be confused with codominium, lol) allowed each to contribute his own strengths while mostly negating the other's weaknesses.

IMO obviously, but I just last year reread Mote for probably the third time, so it's fresh in my mind and I know I'm not misremembering my own take on the book.

And double yeah... let's just say its racial politics are a bit problematic...

I guess in the end I only really value Mote of all their joint works, but that I like a LOT and always will.

Hillary Clinton 2016: I'm a proud progmoderate!

if anyone else other than Jonathan had written that diary they would have been skull and cross-boned. Suspect the timeout was an act of cowardice on the part of site management to avoid embarrassing blowback and accusations of censorship. (due to Tasini being well known outside of Kos world).

When Tasini's last diary was compared to greywolfe's or to the video New Minas posted, it was far more negative toward Clinton. Markos had to enforce his edict. Markos realized that if he banned Tasini, it would probably hit the media eventually, so he punted and put Tasini into time out. It really does not matter because what Markos is doing is censoring based upon a subjective measure. It is really hypocritical for a supposedly Democratic site to censor its users and require them to censor themselves when it comes to Hillary Clinton. It is stupid and short sighted. I hope Tasini raises a stink about it in the media.

I really don't want to log on to DailyKos anymore, even though I like to see, post-edict Bernie diaries dominate the rec list. But I did today to rec the latest BNR. I saw that Mark Ruffalo tweeted Liepar's BNR but it links to DKos.

I thought I tweeted to MR that DKOS is banning Bernie supporters, but perhaps I did not complete the tweet because I don't see a record of it. But any way, I'm glad it didn't go through because I don't want to take any attention away from LD's BNR wherever it is posted!

So ... I hope he posts it here, and then we can tweet Mark Ruffalo the BNR's new address. We can still rec it at TOP to keep it on the rec list every day, but I hate to see Ruffalo tweet dkos links because other Bernie supporters will show up, get banned and then forget about Liepar's awesome BNR.

Pardon typos, I'm lying down in the dark and can't see very well. I guess I need reading glasses. Durrrrnit!
