DNC and DCCC are beginning to pay a price for their failure to reform

After the 2014 election debacle the DNC did an "autopsy".
Do you know what it found? It discovered that the DNC is doing a great job!

The 19-page report from the Democratic National Committee’s Victory Task Force doesn’t address the core issue of drop-off voters head on – the words “turn out” or “drop off” don’t even appear in the report – nor does it call for any fundamental changes to the Democratic Party’s message or policy, as a similar Republican “autopsy report” did after the 2012 election.

“We don’t believe that we need to change anything from a policy standpoint to win elections,” said task force member Maria Cardona.

After the 2016 election debacle the DNC decided against doing an "autopsy", but the DCCC did one.
Do you know what it found? It discovered that the DCCC is doing a great job, but it needs more money.

Only about two-dozen lawmakers showed up for the presentation, which sources described as "dense but thorough." But members were not allowed to have copies of the report and may view it only under the watchful eyes of DCCC staff.

The presentation didn't focus on Democratic messaging and instead was heavily skewed towards money -- how much the DCCC brings in, from where and how those funds are spent.

So what do you think might be the fallout from not listening or caring about the needs of the grassroots, even after getting annihilated over and over again in elections?
Eventually it shows up in fundraising.

At the end of April, the RNC reported $45.6 million in contributions this year—while the DNC raised a paltry $19 million.

The RNC also reported no debt with almost $35 million in the bank. The DNC on the other hand had $7.6 million in cash and $6.2 million in debt.

They were even forced to take out a $10 million credit line to keep up. The DNC outraised and outspent their opponents in 2016and were dealt a crushing defeat at the hands of President Trump.

Since then, it would appear that Democrats across the country are deeming their party committee a poor steward of their money.

Here’s the bottom line: The reality is that cash matters when it comes to winning elections.

The DNC is pretty much broke and does not have a cohesive mission. So one has to wonder if they have any chance of remaining impactful in 2020.

The DCCC is having problems as well, but they are of a far different kind.

A mass exodus of senior leadership at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee Monday over a lack of institutional diversity left the party’s campaign arm in disarray and called into question the leadership of chairperson Illinois Rep. Cheri Bustos. Black and Hispanic leaders in House had expressed anger at Bustos’ personnel decisions after being elected to the role came to a head this week in the staff shakeup. “There is not one person of color—black or brown, that I’m aware of — at any position of authority or decision-making in the DCCC,” said Rep. Marcia Fudge (D-Ohio) told Politico last week. “It is shocking, it is shocking, and something needs to be done about it.”

On Sunday, two Hispanic lawmakers described the DCCC as “in complete chaos.” With frustration growing, Bustos ally and DCCC executive director Allison Jaslow resigned Monday morning and was followed out the door by much of the committee’s senior staff, including the deputy executive director, the director of diversity, the political director, the communications director, and a top communications aide.

Now here's the funny part.
Just one month ago the DCCC began a new program called Cycle of Engagement.

“It’s now a multiyear strategy, and the whole premise of this is that we earn the support — and I emphasize ‘earn the support’ — of two of our key constituencies, namely, people of color and young people,” DCCC Chair Cheri Bustos told Yahoo News. “We’ve got a multipronged approach to make sure that we don’t take anything for granted and that we earn every single vote.”

Meanwhile, over 70 college chapters are boycotting the DCCC.
Looks like Cycle of Engagement is "doing great", just like all of those election autopsy's conclude.

Here's the question that the Dems need answered:
Is the inability of the Dems to have an honest self-examination due to corruption, cowardice, or both?
Bonus question: Since the Dems are completely unable to willingly reform, can the grassroots force them to reform?

. . . will still manage to beat up on schismatic Bernie together. Even when a good hunk of his media spokespeople are POC. Maybe most now that I think of it. Actually, I can't think of any white folks officially speaking for Bernie's campaign I've seen on MSM. Then again, I only watch video clips from MSM. I've been direct MSM clean for close to 4 years! But I might be tempted to watch some debates live come next year but even then I'll try to pick 'em up on an alternate online stream.

I think I've only seen one clip of him so far, though. I've seen each of the rest of the crew at least a couple of times. Maybe Sirota is concentrating on the speech writing or the MSM is afraid of him and won't invite him on as much?

@Wally
uses social media a lot. He is on twitter constantly on behalf of Bernie, often in an aggressive way. I believe he also utilizes print media, such as op-eds. MSM (of the television sort), not so much. I'm sure the mainstream media would prefer not to give him the platform.

In any event, the primary duties as spokespersons for the Sanders campaign would logically rest on Briahna Joy Gray, as press secretary; Nina Turner, as Bernie's main surrogate and campaign co-chair; and Faiz Shakir, as campaign manager.

I posted on FB with a stalwart Party guy, too Left for the Party, but still a yellow dog.

I essentially laid out a pertinent current events narrative and followed it up with and Chuck Schemer and Nancy Pelosi are still in power. All of them are still in power. We have to assume that they're doing a great job, right?

They rake in the most money, make the big decisions, and do the talking. They're doing a great job.

It's perfectly clear that the report is correct!

Since there's actual crimes being committed, which we have complete evidence of, you just can't see it for security purposes, by the president, it means the DNC has accomplished their mission of forcing Trump to show what kind of a person he really is!

As a result the DNC could run a ebola laden monkey as their candidate, and people would still vote, because what people really care about is Legality. Since the monkey didn't collaborate with Russia, (We're pretty certain) it's a superior candidate.

Therefore, totally a great job, and you'll do well to remember that when you're asking Mr. Epstein for a donation, capische?

Is the inability of the Dems to have an honest self-examination due to corruption, cowardice, or both?

How about a complete lack of integrity?

Bonus question: Since the Dems are completely unable to willingly reform, can the grassroots force them to reform?

No. I assume that the DemEnter folks are trying to do a hostile takeover. If they are unable to do that, and soon, the Dem Party will die.

For more bonus points, here's a little correction to that statement by Cheri Bustos:

“We’ve got a multipronged approach to make sure that we don’t take anything for granted screw over the American people and protect our wealthy donors to the best of our ability and that we earn steal every single vote.”

The Democratic party is not subject to reform, although many people desire it and fund the effort.
You are so smart, so well read, it is amazing that you, the banking/financial wizard, keep up this "reform the party" meme.
Well, I am the naysayer. I am the one who can't describe monetary policy in depth, and I am the one who can't necessarily distinguish that fine line of ID pol, but I am the one who can see the overall picture.
There is no reformation, there will be no reformation, there will never, ever be a Democratic Party that helps me and mine.
I believe your are a true believer, and that is your hope for the future.
I am not, have no hope, and actually want the embarrassing Democratic Party to ditch.
This is said with all due respect. You are amazing.
But I think your quest to, or even enthusiasm about, reforming the Democratic Party is misplaced, my friend.

"We'll know our disinformation program is complete when everything the American public believes is false." ---- William Casey, CIA Director, 1981

@on the cusp
The 1932 Democratic Partu was completely different from say the 1900 Democratic Party.
And the 2019 republican Party is completely different from the 1865 Republican Party. I picked those far apart in time extremes because they do show that Parties change, and not necessarily for the better.

BTW, the current (R) Party is very different from the 1950's (R) Party, not completely different, but yesterdays (R)'s would turn their nose at today's neo-Nazis. Not because of their views, but because they are so plebian.
