People are talking about immigration, emigration and the rest of the fucking thing. It's all fucking crap. We're all human beings, we're all mammals, we're all rocks, plants, rivers. Fucking borders are just such a pain in the fucking arse.
― Shane MacGowan

I am funkin' back. The most funked up border crossing of my trip was Dulles International Airport. Otherwise, you had to really be paying attention to even know you were in a different country. In between my two scheduled motorcycle tours, I rode to BMW Motorrad. It was only about 30 miles from Seefeld, Austria to Garmisch Partenkirchen, Germany. I never noticed that I had crossed the German border and thought I was in Austria until another Caucas99er pointed out I was in Germany.

No fence, no line on the road and no wall!

I took a couple hundred pictures, but I am going to need some mentoring before posting them on C99.

Right now, my ass is dragging. I am tired and sore.

Have a great weekend! I need a couple days to collate thoughts, then the funkin' BS will flow. The thread is OPEN.

Welcome back to the fkn US of A. Dragging ass means you enjoyed your time away. Never come back rested. I hope you are energized!

Watched the BMW Motorrad clip - it's how I know you were among your tribe. I'm happy you were able to participate in such an event. You know life has many challenges and is relatively short, so embrace what you can as long as you are able.

I'm off to Boston to visit my son. Favorite granddaughter is tagging along. Well visit our old haunts on Cape Cod. We took the grandkids there for many summer vacations. She's excited to show her uncle her own little piece of heaven.

Get some rest - get re-energized - and make some noise!

Have an interesting day and weekend, folks! Pleasantry

Reminds me of how the “German Autumn,” or Red Army Faction / Baader-Meinhof gang era, got started, originally inspired by progressive, anti-fascist ideals and protest against things like the murder of student Benno Ohnesorg.

Wishing you a speedy recovery from what sounds like a great trip in one of my favorite areas of the world. The weather here has been warm 90's for days on end while you were gone. We're to the scattered showers time of the year and have lacked a good soaking rain for awhile.

Tomatoes are coming in like crazy. Making sauce today to try to clear the full table before we harvest more. Large session last Friday night, unsure what tonight's gathering will bring other than fun and music.

Lots of vids on the intertubes of the beauty of an Alps ride...

and I did the Alps run. Did you see the remnants of the ski jumps used in the 1930s Olympics during the Nazi Era? I can't wait until you rest and post your photos either. The Alps and Rocky Mts. share one common thing: a feeling of wide open enormous space. I'm not sure one can experience it in a car. You definitely sense it on a bike. Glad you had a great. time, and are safe, and back home with us. LOL

The NYT had a recent read about pop music and featured the B52's. They did a great mix of New Wave/avant-garde, disco, and rock in their tunes. I loved them and saw them in concert back in the day. This is my fave tune and fits the idea of world travel and wide open spaces. LOL.

I did a pedal bike tour from banff up to Jasper and talk about sensory overload. Every time we turned the corner it was "wow!!" Plus we camped out every night and just had a blast.

Which AIPAC/MIC/pharma/bank bought politician are you going to vote for? Don’t be surprised when nothing changes.

Then theory entered the picture, and in the ebb and flow of conflicting ideas falling in and out of scientific fashion, vital knowledge of how best to protect against scurvy was lost.

But the villain here is just good old human ignorance, that master of disguise. We tend to think that knowledge, once acquired, is something permanent. Instead, even holding on to it requires constant, careful effort.
