"DoucheLeaks": featuring Markos Makesitso, Russia Maddow, Kurt Eivgonebald, Max Bootlick, and of course, Peter Douche

It's provable that the Pestilent Neoliberal Cesspool (or TOP) continues to plunge new depths. But you already knew that as a C99-er.

The place is unrecognizable. Occupied by the very worst, obnoxious, simpleton, fear-laden, incrementalist centrists. They alternate in fear and hubris. Scared of the changes that challenge their soft, meaningless lives of convenience, and so full of vapid self-assuredness that they know what's better for the lessers.

For more and more it hasn't gone unnoticed.

Give Peter Douche's Liason a hand for his expert hilarity in exposing the fraud of those transparent courtiers over there, and their Neoliberal masters everywhere.

He gets done what the GOP wants (goodbye judiciary) while keeping everyone distracted by nonsense like porn star lawsuits and Twitter tantrums. All made easier by an acquiescent "opposition."

Hahahahahahahaha "there's no write-in section for Hillary" - that's okay, no one can keep that fabulousness down!

That site is ridiculous. The pearl-clutching about those polls is ridiculous. I understand that it's a meaningless online poll run by a biased site. No need for them to pretend otherwise. Pretending that PeBeto O'Rourigieg (these mediocre white guys blend together, sorry) IS ACTUALLY the winner of the latest one but he was robbed because of plotting Bernie Bros is a joke. Admitting that people vote Bernie just to spite Markos is hard; admitting that people vote Bernie because they like Bernie is impossible.

No matter what you think of him, Bernie Sanders is the front runner, and only a small handful of candidates are viable. The rest are shiny turds headed for an extinction burst or just non-starters. Front runners change; there is lots of time for Bernie to get sabotaged or crash and burn on his own. But this denial of front runner status is madness.

I can't answer the specific question on any exposés; I don't believe there's anything to expose. Markos found the Yellow Brick Road to personal wealth and influence, principles be damned, and he followed it. I look at this way - he made his money legally and plainly by figuring out where his bread is best buttered. I can't hate him for that specifically. I do look at where he spends his time, what and who he is promoting, and what he's saying, to draw conclusions about his sources of wealth. If there was a DCCC playbook chapter on talking points, he'd be following it to the letter. The guy who created an online space for fierce and open opposition to the status quo is gone.

Before 2002, he was a Republican who spent formative years in El Salvador. Imagine what your views would have to be if you came from the El Salvador of the 1970s, came to the U.S. in 1980, and signed on with the Republican party. Imagine...you'd have to wait until the post-Gingrich era to realize that the Republican Party is a cruel corrupt cesspool...after being a child in 1970s El Salvador?

And then you consider joining the CIA. This is if I take him at his word; personally, I believe that he did get recruited and never left. The CIA loves to control media. Since 1983, they've been doing it basically openly; it's just that nobody in the media ever highlighted it until Robert Parry did research in the Reagan Presidential Library and discovered that they volunteered to help the Reagan Administration avoid "Vietnamization" of the American public, by which they meant they didn't like large left-wing movements of Americans marching in the streets.

I have questioned whether he really did make it all the way to a CIA job offer or beyond. I personally don't believe that he has any CIA ties. He chose Howard Dean's campaign over an alleged CIA job. Dirty trickery is learned and tested in national campaigns all the time. Markos Moulitsas was a tech bro who went where he had the best chance to make a name for himself. He chose politics. He struck gold creating an online space in which users and not the owners created the content. He ran with it. A lot of others copied that formula.

There might still be a link available to his 2006 Commonwealth Club address where he talked about his CIA past, iirc. It would be naive in the extreme, imo, not to consider the possibility that Markos never left the Agency. His joining the Dean campaign instead, he claims, also makes for a nice cover story.

I am unaware of any recent in-depth reporting on his background or how DK got funded initially, etc, but I haven't done much beyond a lazy-man's google search, which is typical when I'm not paid for such time-consuming undertakings.

It has always been curious to me how quickly his site took off, and how successful it became so soon, and how for a good while people didn't seem too interested in how it all came to be, how Markos became the King of the Progosphere, including being anointed as such by the MSM and feted in a way by them. It just happened as if this were the normal organic course of events. Maybe. But maybe too he had some considerable outside assistance.

I was a lucky one, achieving the American Dream

Monday December 21, 2015
I recently resigned (100 percent amicably) my position on the Board of Vox Media, the company that I co-founded over 10 years ago as SB Nation. As part of that resignation, I am selling a large percentage of my remaining equity holdings, which means that I have now achieved a level of financial security I never could’ve imagined.

Ironically, it still won’t make me a one percenter. That would require assets of $8.4 million. But it’s more than sufficient to take care of my family through two college educations and retirement. It’s enough to help out our extended families.

This has certainly been a long journey for me, first arriving in the United States as a war refugee from El Salvador at the age of nine. As violent as El Salvador was, much of which I carry to this day, I was still ripped from my comfortable circle of family and friends, from my home, my pets, my school, and thrust into a hostile environment where I didn’t know the language, I was thin, weak, looked years younger than I actually was, and was bullied mercilessly. That psychological violence felt worse to me than El Salvador’s physical violence.

I never would have thought I'd be a millionaire just by owning a house in the hood. Or stumbling into an amazing job. I don't take a lick worth of credit except for avoiding crime, the all too common route for folks where I come from.

Being a one percenter...all of it is sheer unadulterated luck. Some people think its because of something they did but its purely about being at the right place at thr right time.

being ousted from the Ecuadoran embassy and being turned over to the US government, their hatred prevents them from seeing the real issue as the little CIA dude guides them into the ever smaller and smaller corral.

Here is what I posted and the comments in response. They simply are so wedded to their tribalism and hatred that they are blinded. I keep wondering what ever happened to critical thinking skills? Apparently it does not exist over there. The first quote is my post.

I see a lot of tribalism in these comments which frightens me.

The distressing issue here is by cheering for the arrest and criminalization of a person who published information that was inconvenient, embarrassing, or showed criminal behavior by the government and others, you are also saying that you are okay with criminalizing any other publisher, writer, or website that does something similar. Arresting a publisher of information, regardless of how it came into his hands is unprecedented in the country and is a very dangerous precedent toward the complete shut down of what little is left of freedom of speech in this country.

This is a very ugly, slippery slope that our government is treading on. I am absolutely shocked that so many people on what was supposed to be a liberal website are cheering the criminalization of the publishing of information, regardless of how it was obtained. This is no different than when the New York Times printed the Pentagon papers and yet their publisher and journalists were not arrested. Freedom of information should be a paramount importance to every American. Any one of us could be the next.

Furthermore, JA is neither a journalist nor a whistleblower.

Additionally, There are many entities that publish stuff besides journalists or media organizations. Just because an entity publishes shit, does not defacto make them legitimate protected members of a free press. Corporations and Intelligence agencies publish shit, often through cut-outs and front organizations.

...forget about moral principles; forget about the CIA bullshit, etc., etc. It's all business, all the time. When it comes to Moulitsas, always follow the money. His political philosophies are a mile wide and less than an inch deep. But, as many acknowledge, he is a very good businessman. That has ALWAYS been the line on him. And, when it comes to DKos, that's really all you need to know. Within weeks after either the 2008 or 2012 election (I forget which; I'd have to check to provide the actual date, and I have lots of offline commitments, today, so that's all I'm "confirming"), he was, more or less, bought out by the V.C. community--of most his principal stockholding positiions--of all of his major online properties (i.e.: SBNation, Vox, etc.), except for dear old Daily Kos and its affiliates.

Nowadays (after just about everyone's online advertising sales efforts crashed and burned--except for a handful of major players: Facebook, Google, Amazon, etc.), his income's all about his email lists, which he mostly markets through a network of professional vendors, with significant add'l sales of same occurring in-house (hence, you really cannot track his gross, closely-held corporate income, to the dollar; but he's left enough breadcrumbs in his commentary over the years to surmise to infer his gross corporate income is somewhere not too far north/south/in-between $10mm-$15mm per year, now). Above and beyond his direct response income stream, his second, major cash cow in his business is the tithe he "semi-imposes" among all that are ignorant enough to donate to their favorite neoliberal political candidates through his online and offline political fundraising efforts.

I really do enjoy reading Peter Douche's recent commentary. Especially, those .jpegs! LOL! Got a lot of laughs out of it! Thanks, Mark!

@bobswern

Do you think making money is incompatible with manipulating opinions online for the CIA? That seems highly unlikely.

Calling something bullshit because we have no proof of it is only rational if the initial hypothesis is extremely unlikely, or if an appropriate search for proof has come up empty. In this case, based on what we know of both Moulitsas and the CIA, the initial hypothesis is not extremely unlikely. It is, in fact, likely.

1)The COINTELPRO papers tell us that the CIA has had an active interest in manipulating public opinion through the media in the past.

2)Robert Parry uncovered information in the Reagan Presidential Library that indicated that the CIA began actively trying to shift the American public to the right in 1983, on behalf of the Reagan Administration. This was done in the open.

3)We know that operatives and their sockpuppets are endemic to the internet, both on behalf of private corporations and the government. This too is being done in the open, to the extent that "opinion management" and "perception management" are now industries, and buying subscriptions or likes for certain internet figures and properties is a known phenomenon. Another known phenomenon is a political candidate spending a million dollars placing operatives and their sockpuppets online to influence the American public in her interest. Their main methods for doing this have been a) influencing the direction of political conversations online, and b)suppressing dissent by attacking the characters of those who disagree--methods that will be familiar to anyone who has spent any time at Daily Kos.

4)About that candidate--the alliance between her political faction and the intelligence and security community is obvious and well-known; she has, in fact, been a major part of their Russiagate psy-op designed to start another Cold War.

5)That alliance extends generally to that candidate's political party. Enough members of the intelligence community have run as Democrats lately that the term "CIA Democrats" is now a thing.

6)Both the highest-ranking Democrats have said openly, independently of one another, that they don't dare oppose the CIA.

7)Markos Moulitsas' alliance with the Democratic party in general and the Clinton faction in particular is obvious and no one is denying it. Given the relationship between the CIA and the Democratic party, it's reasonably accurate to describe his website as a tool to produce support for the CIA's political face.

8)Markos Moulitsas spent formative years in the 1970s in El Salvador, after which he came to the United States. His response to those experiences was to join not only the United States military but the Republican party. Think about what El Salvador was like in the 1970s, to say nothing of the 80s, and reflect on what kind of political views you'd have to have in order to become a Republican after experiencing those events.

9)Moulitsas himself admits he was recruited to the CIA. We are supposed to take his word for the fact that he reconsidered and didn't become an operative. Why are we supposed to take this man, who rarely acts in good faith, in good faith? We don't believe anything else he says.

So the hypothesis is not comparable to the sighting of little green men in the New Mexican desert. In fact, the hypothesis that Markos Moulitsas is an operative is far likelier than the hypothesis that Americans live in a democracy.

As for appropriate searches for proof, a reasonable person would include in her analysis the fact that finding proof that a particular person is a CIA agent, or any other kind of undercover operative for the intelligence community, is extremely difficult--one of the most difficult terrestrial hypotheses to prove or disprove, since the entire security and intelligence industry is bent on misdirection. You are essentially trying to uncover the activities of the world's best professional liars and provide substantive proof of the identity of a spy.

It's fair to say that it's not proved that Moulitsas is a CIA op; it's neither fair nor rational to dismiss the possibility out of hand. Being dismissive is not an automatic gateway to accuracy.

...but, on its face, Moulitsas sucks up to the powers that be for financial reasons.

Case In Point: He delivers up 80,000+/- roses to Nancy Pelosi, the most powerful elected Democrat in the U.S.

By definition, that IS a legit business expense! (It's a real write-off.)

The primarily neoliberal power structure drives most (virtually all) of his list and contribution referral business: DNC, DCCC, DSCC, etc., etc. Moulitsas is going where the money and power is; and our nation's intel agencies are right there driving/commandeering those same relationships, as well. On top of that, he's a former Republican. So, he's definitively aligned with the center-right of the Party, per his personal/historical political preferences. It's a natural/comfortable fit for him, philosophically, business-wise and personally, across-the-board. Hence, my reference to Occam's, etc.

establishment as being completely intertwined with the CIA and the rest of the intelligence community and their interests, mainly, I think, because neoliberalism and neoconservatism have now joined forces and are difficult now to separate into component parts. Neoconservatism has been hand-in-glove with the CIA for quite some time. As the Russiagate thing shows, neoliberals now have no trouble adopting the same hideous and suicidal foreign policy goals.

"Politics makes (not so) strange bedfellows..." and "The enemy of my enemy is my friend." It's always been the primary goal of our country's foreign policy to support its corporations, around the globe. So, you have the major Democratic Party online blog getting fully in line with the status quo, 'cause it's "good for business." Again, it's Occam's, to a "T." I have little doubt that if Marky Markos gets calls from questionable sorts associated with our surveillance state and our intelligence community, he's all ears. But, frankly, it's not rocket science. He goes with the flow; and he gets compensated, accordingly.

sorry I missed the poll, I don't read there too much, busy of late and something has to go.

I find the GOS to be neolib on issues economic and identitarian on social issues. Your basic rich folks attitude. The only good thing about Trump is that he chaps their ass, especially that little skweeky fella that owns GOS.

Meanwhile there are important elections. I wish there was a link to the poll, that post would be worth laughing over.

@ban nock and identitarian on social issues." bout says it all. Makes you wonder if it isn't a CIA plot to destroy the democratic party. Not that they aren't doing a good job all by themselves.

moving to the left. One ex CIA dude admitted it either on the main stream media or by a tweet. Might have been a tweet of the main stream media video. But oh yes the guy said that was his role.

the little things you can do are more valuable than the giant things you can't! - @thanatokephaloides. On Twitter @wink1radio. (-2.1) All about building progressive media.

If you haven't read his summary of the 4/4 results, do yourself a favor and do/don't. Apples to oranges and made up bull shit from poll to poll. The last one, he only left open for 6 hours hoping he would outfox the Bernie supporters who now own his poll. I have no idea how long the last one was open. Like the Democratic debate, Kos is starting to only post them on Christmas Eve at midnight.

I don't know which makes me happier. Having Bernie win on his bought & paid for site or destroying his straw poll with all of its phony fame and glory.

@dkmich Markos' analysis, or anything else at that curious site for centrist censors. Don't want to give them any added clicks which would enhance their already underserved clout. Anyone with a few brain cells to rub together knows online polls of that type are worthless.

@wokkamile

Then I got approached on Twitter to take Kos up on his invitation for all to participate in his poll. The goal was to shut up Chuck Todd or make him talk about Bernie winning it just like he did Warren and Harris. The icing on the cake was to have Bernie walk off with the poll and/or to destroy it. I'd say we hit a homeroom with all three.

I feel like the human Rachel Maddow was replaced by a robot. (Keith Olbermann disappointed me more though. I have a copy of Pitchforks and Torches that I don't know whether to burn or reread.)

I am not foolish enough to ignore the corporate purpose and provenance of her RUSSIA CONTROLS EVERYTHING hysteria, but I still come across some of her shit and think WTFFFFFF, are you for real?! FOX probably has a cushy job for her!

But he's real good at groveling in front of Nancy Pelosi with his billions of roses game. Boy, were followers of DKos used and abused on THAT fund-raiser! Ha!

The current working assumption appears to be that our Shroedinger's Cat system is still alive. But what if we all suspect it's not, and the real problem is we just can't bring ourselves to open the box?

I loved the Little Rascals / Our Gang comedies. I still watch them from time to time whenever I need to make myself feel better.

Kos looks like he swallowed a coat hanger or he forgot to take his suit coat off when he put it on. He might be sitting on a booster seat or needs one depending how you look at it. He also acts like a kid that didn't get recess that day.
