How the worm has turned in less than a month.
Kamobama is the new Bernie!
At least that was the narrative until today.
#Bernie2020 has raised 3.3 million in 10 hours today. Let’s get to 5 million.
It started out in the East and it is rolling West. Let’s

I sent in my $27 today.
So on one hand you have this.
Just over 24 hours after announcing his presidential bid, Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont has already raised $6 million from more than 225,000 donors, his campaign said Wednesday morning.
...
A recent New York Times analysis found that Mr. Sanders begins his 2020 candidacy with about 2.1 million online donors who have given money to him over the last six years, a massive lead among low-dollar contributors that is roughly equivalent to the donor base of all the other Democratic hopefuls combined.
On the other hand you have this Kopmala email.
"I need to be direct: right now, we are at a real risk of falling short of our February fundraising goals. I hope you will give me a moment to explain what these monthly fundraising goals mean — and why your support matters so much.

Why is Kamala asking for
Why is Kamala asking for donations?
She's a cop... so she'll probably just pull out the "asset forfeiture" card soon.
Soon her donations tab will be an "Assets Forfeiture" tab.
I wonder what size type the MSM will use
to print the 24-hour donation total for Sanders. I know I will need new glasses to see that (and maybe a microscope).

Microscope?
It wasn’t even mentioned in the below the fold article in the NYT this morning...

transparently pathetic in their role as Protectorates of the Status Quo.
Year round for decades now, even when the previous election outcome hasn’t even settled in, the American media is continually obsessed with horse race sports coverage of the next presidential race.
And yet the fact that this achievement would then not make the front page screams so much about their motivations and role in this whole thing.
It’s sickening enough that we have to hear constantly about fundraising numbers, as if it were the most determining factor (which Bernie turned in its head).
But to have to be bombarded by this quadrennial circus nonstop 24/7 (while in the UK political campaigning and coverage is limited to the few months before the actual election) should tell give more people pause as to what’s really going on. Which is a lot of hot air and nothing really changing. Pro wrestling for the peasants.

HuffPo showing it's colours on cue
Top story is:
The aricle includes the paragraph (emphasis mine):
Technically true.
Funny how four times greater
is reduced to "more than double". Odd that.
Gëzuar!!
from a reasonably stable genius.
@Bollox Ref yep. Quadrupled.
While HuffPo may be extremely bad at math,
other outlets appear to be handicapped when it comes to listening. Using Duck Duck Go, a search for "Bernie Sanders" brings up more than two pages of odds and ends but not one peep about the donations.
A search for Bernie Sanders donations" doesn't do much better with many articles from 2016 or from early yesterday announcing the over one million mark only.
From MSM, there was one NYT article that refers to the overwhelming support of Sanders as only being important insofar as achieving "bragging rights." It also chalks up the donation total to his having a large donor database rather than the popularity of his policies.
Buckle up; it is going to be a bumpy ride.

This is Great!
Was Humpty Dumpty pushed?
As long as Bernie isn't locked in there with them either.
So mote it be.

How Kamala and Bernie achieved their respective goals
is significant.
The DNC and the Clintons have been doing anointing things with respect to Kamala, including getting donors ready to donate the minute she announced. So, yeah, a record breaking 1.5 million during her first 24 hours about which her camp made a huge deal
Bernie has not been running around glad handing his big donors because he does not have any big donors. And neither the DNC nor any Democratic politician has been doing the ground work for him. All Bernie did was send one email kinda sorta suggesting he might run and then another saying "I'm in." And, boom chickalaka, a Kamala-shattering 4.5 million in 12 hours.
What I hope with all my heart is that Bernie's camp has been working to correct the mistakes of 2014-16 from his own campaign and to unrig the f-king rigged primaries.
For years, Bernie pretty much sang the same old song
He ain't perfect, but consistency tends to bring trust. Kamala is in thrall to the democratic fundraising machine (they all are, really). While she has her own ideas for her campaign, those ideas have to be yoked together with the aim of successful fundraising. Sometimes it is all about the Benjamins.
Bernie blew the doors off of the straw poll at GOS
hands down, 44% to 16% for Kamala, his nearest competitor.
I know that many here are loathe to go there under any circumstances, but please consider casting a vote there for Bernie, just to flip off (and flip out) the centrists.

Mother Wants CNN's phone number
My wonderful Mom at 92 years young called this evening. "You might be wrong," she said. "I've been watching CNN all day and they've said nothing about Bernie announcing. Are you sure he's running?" We then had to explain about Clinton News Network, their media blackout of Bernie last time, ditto this time (except for that wretched Ciliza creature or whatever his name is, with some smear piece this morning....). Mother got enraged and said, "What's their phone number? I'm going to call them right now." Mom lived through the Depression, loved FDR, remembers when the Dems worked for the people, has always LOATHED the Clintons ("How come so many people can't see they're phonies? Especially her? And him a sex addict too!" Mother had Civics Class, it bears mentioning-- as well as a boatload of common sense. Let's see how much Bernie's record-breaking haul today (hoping for 5 mil by the time all is said in done) gets mentioned in the media tomorrow. Don't hold your breath!

Let your mom know that CNN is going to do a town hall with Bernie. Will they lob softballs or demand he pay for everything right there and then.

I was thinking the same thing
That and how much of a return I got on my investment with the money I donated to Bernie's campaign in 2016.
I keep thinking I'm missing some pertinent info on why supporting him financially, again, will benefit us?

He can defect at the convention, like he was supposed to in '16
LOL rats, was looking forward to the debates. I think?

Hmmm
So that's the thinking? We're supposed to infer that he's going to go rouge at the convention and #DEMEXIT?

I'm so cynical these days
I can't even begin to form a scenario in my mind where Bernie would commit political suicide rather than knowingly participate in another fraudulent election. It's politics after all, and everything is on the table. Including asking us for money knowing that the power brokers will never let him win. I mean what's changed? The same people who stole the election in 2016 are still in power? What's stopping them?

I don't know. I think this time,
and among many varied other things, the punches won't be pulled, there will be whole legions of folks at every level explicitly employed or volunteering to eagle eye for shenanigans, and the massive outpouring for him nationally and across partisanship (once the DNC is overwhelmed) will be too much in the end for the system to control and defeat.
I could be wrong. And I don't know that I can personally revisit that last gasp of belief in the system after he was blatantly and brazenly cheated.
But I get the feeling he's gonna be a lot more business-like in taking-no-prisoners this time around.
