As hundreds of thousands of families are unable to meet rent or mortgage payments, cover health bills or put food on the table, and the government fails to carry out basic social functions such as food and drug inspection, road, bridge and mass transit maintenance, housing and nutrition assistance, the entire political system and all of its official institutions become increasingly discredited in the eyes of the working class.

Among the 420,000 "essential" workers forced to work without pay are 13,000 air traffic controllers, some of whom posted on Twitter pay stubs listing $0.00 for the pay period ending January 10. Their plight sums up the reality of class relations and the role of the state as the repressive arm of the ruling class.

As with Galavant, cancelled, to my displeasure, after only one season, I am with you on Lucifer, CStMS (though I was not especially impressed with the acting of the woman who played the therapist--okay, but not to the level of Tom Ellis, IMO.) I watched it season by season for all three seasons. I was very disappointed when it was cancelled. I thank you for letting me know that Netflix picked it up. Although I saw it as an option on Netflix, I thought Netflix was only re-airing the first three seasons.

That said, I have been contemplating (as I frequently have for a decade or two) the perfidy of our corporatist, establishment media. ( "Corporatist" and "establishment" are, when used together, a tad redundant, so I apologize.) MSM has hidden truth from many of us for too long, by slanting, by not covering stories that should be covered, by distracting us with trivial news and fake news, etc. Nonetheless, our eyes somehow opened.

Now that both our oldest and largest political parties are--or rather, now that many of us have realized and acknowledged that both our oldest and largest political parties are--run and almost completely populated by neocon warmongering politicians, bent on imperialism and altneoliberalcon austerity, what are the options of the 99%, really?

1. We can pretend we don't notice and vote for whichever wing of Gore Vidal's Property Party we deem the lesser evil--assuming we can decide which is the lesser. (To me, FWIW, Democrats at least seem like the lesser evil short-term and the greater evil long-term.)

2. We can vote for a newer party of our choice, either without holding our noses or holding them slightly less than we must if we opt for option 1, above, but knowing our candidate will lose by a landslide.

3. We can form a new political party, hopefully realizing from the off that "we" really means us. Too often, I see or hear people speak of "We need to form a new party," really meaning, "I want you and them to form a new party, incur all the expense and do all the work to build it. If, by some miracle, I agree with every policy, person and move 100%, I may well arse myself to go to the polls and vote--but only for President and only if I feel the candidate has a realistic chance of beating both the Democratic and Republican candidates for POTUS. And, I expect that to happen fairly soon--and without my volunteering or donating."

4. We can have, or muster, faith in Our Revolution and throw ourselves into that body and soul.

5. We can take the beginning of the Declaration of Independence literally and revolt, as did our forefathers and foremothers in 1776. (Warning: Due to government shutdown, the text of the Declaration of Independence has not been updated or monitored recently.)

Please bear in mind that, as revolutions go, the aftermath of the American Revolution was considerably less messy than the aftermath of both the French Revolution, which the American Revolution inspired, and the Russian revolution, inspired by excesses of the ruling class (aka the PTB, or the establishment) combined with even more than altneoliberalcon "austerity" for everyone else, including the Russian military fighting World War I while coming down with influenza.

So, those who vote for Option 5 should, like Jefferson, Madison, et al., have a pretty good plan for what happens on Day 1 of the new Republic or the nascent democracy, as the case may be. They should also have a good plan for how to go about organizing and coordinating a national revolution in a nation this size, without strong unions to help, as in Europe's much smaller nations and to do so without being detected by our many "spy on Americans in blatant violation of the Fourth Amendment" forces, who have many surveillance cameras and super-sensitive mikes planted in all our larger cities in addition to those private proprietors put up.

6. We could take up a peaceful hobby, like gardening or knitting and do our best to ignore politics entirely, so we don't keep aggravating ourselves to no discernible avail.

Okay, I confess: This post, drafted entirely by me, with no help from Putin or any other Russian, is partly serious and partly my frivolous effort to use all the forbidden terms mentioned in Snoopy Dawg's marvelous OP. And I sincerely hope that all our "spy on Americans" agencies, nymag, Conspirador Norteño and all the other maroons who equated using those words, so necessary to telling even a smidge of the truth about the US, with being a tool of Russia get pantsed in public while TV cameras are rolling and exposed for the un-American asshats they are.
