Friday Night Photos - More Snow On The Way edition

Downloaded some shots from a camera. Nothing particularly exciting, but I rather liked the light effects in the shot below:
With decent shots a little lacking, here's His Supreme Fredship in repose:
I spent the better part of two days trying to get a picture of this Ruffed Grouse on Drummond Island. This is what happened just after I gave up. Walked right up to me as if to say: "Tag! You're it!"

Regardless of the path in life I chose, I realize it's always forward, never straight.
I can also imagine them when it's so cold the rain freezes on the way down and makes icicles. I don't miss the cold, but I do miss the beauty it creates. Thanks QMS for your images regardless of size.
He's hiding from the birds. Feeders are hung above and behind his left shoulder. They flit thru the hydrangea, so he's ready to pounce. Yeah, put up all those white cedar shakes many moons ago. Love working with them. Smells like heaven!
The fragrance of cedar wherever it's met, is a wonderful pleasure. My favourite NZ pinot noirs always begin with what I identify as the smell of cedar.
I went by there on the 19th. I would Love to move to Morgan. Always have. There is a great golf course there that has lots of memories. You know that the mountains on the north side are where snowbasin is? This was where the Olympic downhills were held. Sure wish I knew you were in the neighborhood.

The first two photos were taken last Friday morning and the third one was taken Saturday morning. My brother does most of his skiing at Snow basin. I would have liked to have met up while I was there, but I was only there for a few days and was busy with family.
Of course the canyon gets less sun than the valley, but we didn't get any. . getting some now though.
Is that a beaver dam in the photo? Did you think the river was low? I swore I saw some fish walking around the low spots. Your brother has a short trip to get to the basin now with the new road that goes there. I bet he's excited that he doesn't have to go the old way.

that fell on Thanksgiving day didn't stick to the ground in Morgan but it left a nice blanket on the mountains. The snow that did stick to the ground came late Friday night and into Saturday afternoon. Those are mostly rocks going across the river, not a beaver dam. I've never seen the Weber river before so I can't say whether it's low or not.
The cat in the window photo is amazing to look at! There is so much interest there, graphically. And the absurdity of the snow covered tree adorning the cat's head like a feathered hat.
trying to imagine what crosses the feline brain. Where are the snow mice? Had a cat that used to burrow under the drifts. Searching for buried treasures. Came up looking like frosty the clown.
I don't know what he was thinking about, but it must have changed about ten seconds after I took the shot. That's when hopped off the couch and wondered off.
It's a drainage pond at the cemetery and I don't usually walk on that side of it, but when I walked by Abby went to see what was there. Behind me is a drain and surrounded by grass. This is what makes photography so fun, huh? We can create our own realities.

The 'trail' leads to some stairs on the right and it's really just a depression, but it felt like I was in the middle of nowhere. Nice place to just hang out.

Here is a Red-breasted Nuthatch that has been around our yard a month now. They are about 4.5" and .35 of an oz., so little tykes. Nuthatches often work down treetrunks, headfirst from top to bottom. This one is finding the sunflower seeds the titmice and chickadees have been stashing in the crevices of the pecan bark.
Here is a Cedar Waxwing with a mouthful of water at our birdbath couple days ago.
This is a winter plumaged Myrtle (Yellow-rumped) Warbler. They are fancy in the summer.

OT, BR! And, thanks to Everyone for sharing your excellent photos.
I'm going to take SD's suggestions, and try to figure out my cell phone camera. If all goes well, will have a new 'subject' early next year. Hope to drop back with a Tweet of the entire litter, later. (Puppy selection can't be made for several more weeks.)

links on "Rule Of Thirds"--including this one. I'll definitely study up on the concept. It's probably hard for anyone here (this Photography thread) to imagine not knowing this info, but, it was totally news to me.
And, I can definitely use all the 'hints' I can get!

your photos. But you can always edit your pictures to do that. I hope that you will just have fun taking photos and don't overthink what you're doing. One thing to remember is that your camera is going to 'see' things that you don't such as overhead wires and stuff in the background. Whilst you're on your many travels start really looking at what you're looking at and you'll start forming pictures in your mind.

for the welcoming words! If all goes well, I'm hoping to be back (regularly) in several weeks--I've really missed not being able to participate.
If I can transfer a photo of the litter from my cell phone to the computer drive, I'm going to Tweet it, and post it. Of course, they're so young, they kinda look like big light-colored rats. Anyhoo, our Pup will be an English Creme Golden (or, European variety, instead of American Golden).
We're excited!
Hey, love the snow sculpture photo--reminds me of Alaska! Of course, I was very saddened to hear about the earthquake. We experienced two while we lived there, but, not on a scale (even close) to the one earlier today.

Not long at all, but lengthened by the cooler, cloudy, rainy
current weather. In the sun, the flowers are gone in a day basically. The numerous little seeds feed lots of birds.

The family Thanksgiving get together this year was at my Brothers house in Morgan Utah. A little cold for my taste, but some nice scenery.

your photos. But you can always edit your pictures to do that. I hope that you will just have fun taking photos and don't overthink what you're doing.
