The very overtly pro-establishment New York Democratic Party

The New York state Democratic Convention was notable for both who was there and who wasn't there.

Mr. de Blasio, who holds one of the most recognizable political offices in the country, and who has traveled to Iowa and other cities and states around the country to promote progressive Democratic ideals, was apparently not quite as welcome in his home state.

“There was not an invitation to play a meaningful role at the convention,” he said on Wednesday at an unrelated news conference in the Bronx. “I got a lot of other good things I can do with my time and so I’m not worried about it.”

Mayor De Blasio is an actual progressive, so maybe it's not surprising he wasn't there.

So who was there?
Former Vice President Joe Biden, who gave the speech right before the balloon drop, Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez, and of course, Hillary Clinton who gave the keynote speech.
They were all united in supporting incumbent Andrew Cuomo.
It was if they were broadcasting their disdain for progressive change.

Indeed part of the point of the Democratic convention, if not the New York State Democratic Party, is to smother that progressive energy in a warm embrace. For Democrats, progressive energy spells danger...
...Cuomo chose Hillary Clinton to offer the convention’s keynote, but that move only raised the hackles of some of his progressive opponents further. Jumaane Williams, a city councilman from Brooklyn who is running for lieutenant governor against Kathy Hochul, Cuomo’s chosen pick, said that Clinton represented one side of the bitter civil war that consumed the party in 2016.

“Is this the speaker that is most helpful to unify the party? Are they intentionally trying to agitate one side when they should be providing unity?” he said, suggesting that the party should have chosen Bernie Sanders to speak as well. “When they talk about unity it is usually the party leadership telling the left that they should shut up and be quiet.”

It's easy to forget all of the reasons to hate Cuomo. There are so many.
So here's a short list.

His crimes include underfunding the MTA, attacking public education via charter schools, and protecting his friends in the real estate business from subpoenas. After creating an “independent” commission to investigate corruption, he blocked it from investigating his own office and subsequently
disbanded it.

His former top aide, Joseph Percoco, was convicted on three corruption charges in March. Up until Nixon’s challenge pressured him into ending their deal, he allowed the Independent Democratic Conference (IDC) to swing control of the state senate to the Republicans, stymying efforts to pass single-payer healthcare, fully fund education, and cement New York as a sanctuary state. (It recently dissolved, but this is probably just a hiatus; Cuomo convinced the IDC to temporarily disband in 2014 when he faced a primary challenge from Zephyr Teachout, too.) Cuomo is drowning in corporate money; Nixon has vowed to accept none.

New York need change more than any other state in the union, and that is saying something.

pay attention becuz I knew it was going to be the same ol' lame ol'.
As we've all learned over the last year or two, the Dim party doesn't give a damn about winning as much as it cares about the $$ they can pick from our pockets.
Certainly ain't any different here in NY. For a long time after I bailed from the local party here I thought the problem was "my" local party. Who were more interested in attending cocktail parties than "electing more and better Democrats." I didn't realize then that that was S.O.P. for the entire Dim party, across the board, top to bottom. Sad.

From the wiki:

Tammany Hall's influence waned from 1930 to 1945 when it engaged in a losing battle with Franklin D. Roosevelt, the state's governor (1928–33) and the United States president (1933–45). In 1932, Mayor Jimmy Walker was forced from office when his bribery was exposed. Roosevelt stripped Tammany of federal patronage. Republican Fiorello La Guardia was elected mayor on a Fusion ticket and became the first anti-Tammany mayor to be re-elected. A brief resurgence in Tammany power in the 1950s under the leadership of Carmine DeSapio was met with Democratic Party opposition led by Eleanor Roosevelt, Herbert Lehman, and the New York Committee for Democratic Voters. By the mid-1960s Tammany Hall ceased to exist.

As you noted in the essay, ceasings to exist in NY can be expedient and temporary. And many of the current crew of Dem politicians will seldom hesitate to tell us how awful FDR was.

The current working assumption appears to be that our Shroedinger's Cat system is still alive. But what if we all suspect it's not, and the real problem is we just can't bring ourselves to open the box?

Although it does give one an urge to puke, symbolic of the need to purge the system.

Same old, same mold - but the evidence piles up in all areas and those sinking in it must soon realize that shoveling is required before we all - globally - drown in the evidence without ever having done anything to save ourselves.

Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.

A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.

by sucking it out of workers, consumers, public funding and the life-blood of the planet.

And the propaganda cons a surprising number of people into thinking that the results of this banditry are legitimate and 'earned fair and square', that they belong exclusively to the billionaire perps as 'their money', no part of which should even be expected to cover the additional tax burden then thrown onto those already bled dry.

Of course the economy is drained and shriveled toast because of these financial and human rights vampires.

US has largest debt in world history, dollar to lose status as No.1 currency – Jim Rogers
Published time: 24 May, 2018 11:17
Edited time: 24 May, 2018 14:00

The US dollar is becoming less appealing for investors as American debt continues to soar and the greenback is printed to cover it, investor Jim Rogers said at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

The American currency will lose the status of main reserve currency much sooner than 2030, Rogers said at the Valdai Club’s discussion session, held as part of SPIEF.

“Dollar is going to be higher than now because the turmoil is coming. Then, it is going to be overpriced and people will look around and say, ‘America’s got the largest debt in the history of the world. It’s printing money as fast as it can,’” the investor said.

People will look at what Brazil, Russia, China, India, Iran and other developing countries are doing, Rogers said. “They are forming a competing currency right now,” he added. So, the dollar alternative will come from the countries that “have been bossed by the US, and they don’t like it, but have enough power to do something about it.”

Rogers went on to say that organizations such as the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank “have never been right about anything” and should be abolished, since they have been politically dependent on the United States for decades.

Speaking separately to RT, the businessman said that sanctions and trade wars are the biggest threat to the world’s economic stability. “The world has learned throughout history that closing off is not good, opening up is good,” Rogers said.

Reality exists, independent of acceptance or recognition.

When you wreck an economy or a world, your money's no good any more, no matter how many billions or trillions of data-dots you may have accumulated.

they can't help it

Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez endorsed New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo's re-election Thursday, angering some on the left who say the party leader is violating his own pledge to stay out of primaries.

Perez's highly unusual involvement caught even Rep. Keith Ellison, D-Minn., the DNC deputy chairman, by surprise.

"The Democratic Party should not intervene in the primary process," Ellison said through a spokesperson. "It is our role to be fair to all contestants and let the voters decide."
