I am funkin' back!
I have been working on busting out. Earlier this spring, I cajoled Joe Schickspack into meeting me for Merlefest. Smiley7 lives near Merlefest, so I roped them into helping me get out and about. Spring in the mountains of NC was quite invigorating.
We had a good visit and a better time. I enjoyed the mountain ambience so much that I turned around and bought tickets to see The New Mastersounds, in Asheville.
I plan to head for the mountains, a few days early, to ride The Tail of The Dragon, Cherahola Skyway and Moonshiner28.
That's what I am funkin' talkin' about!
Getting busy keeps me from getting lost in my own mind. The adrenaline rush helps placate the loneliness.
There is only one cure for these funkin' blues.
So get out from in front of the computer and funkin' live!

I am not a camera lugger, Facebook user nor on Flickr. Merlefest is rather intimate, taking place on the campus of Wilkes Community College. The music was Americana. Mostly finger picking styles, countrified rock and bluegrass. I am mostly a funkin' urbanite, and it is funk Friday.

Next weekend we play a dance for the Audubon gathering on the mountain, and then there's the Fla Folk Fest at the end of the month. Starting the 14th there will be a gathering in Montgomery every Monday for 6 weeks by the poor peoples campaign. I plan to go to the first one. There are actions in 30 states...

Oh man
The digital world is like getting sucked into a black hole. These days, it just seems to agitate me and waste my time. Yeah, I consider Star Wars to be the Monsanto of entertainment.
Engineering their monoculture entertainment for all the masses. Tossing in just the right amounts of pandering to each group so that nobody is really offended. Nebulous badguy, who isn't nebulous any more, and actually has a good reason, because we NEED to understand our oppressors...

Back when the original Star Wars was
released I feel it had the same effect on young kids my age at that time as the Harry Potter books did in that it touched and broadened imaginations. I hate the Disnyfication of the films but remain loyal to them because of the characters I loved. Ha that kid must have been rich to see it 100 times. To be able to see it once back then was a whole week's allowance for me. Alec Guiness was brilliant but maybe a bit hypocritical to have chosen a profession that thrives on fanatics!
Edited to "was" as Alec Guiness has passed into a Galaxy far, far away!

it's fertile, it is/was cheaper and it's, how can I say it, very alternative. My loved one considered it. I guess this makes the second thoughts a little bit more reasonable.
