Another Flip From Red to Blue

Dylan Ratigan - yes, That Dylan Ratigan - announced his run for congress in my cd, NY-21! And, while this is hardly a slam dunk - "Beltway Elise" Stefanik loaded to the gills with both $$ and Repub support - this is the Best Chance we Dems have had here to reclaim what's been a Repub seat since the Civil War - literally - until 2008 when a Dem somehow won on the coat tails of an Obama victory! So, here's hoping Dylan can pull off the upset - he's never voted - ever! - and flip this cd back in the blue!

today, doing the media blitz thing, and Gloversville is a good 2.5 to 3 hour drive, so he's not shy about putting in the work. Hell, I'm not even sure if G'ville is in the District - don't believe so - which shows how friggin' Big this District is when "we" have to hold meetings Outside the District so more can attend.

Good luck in your color-change game. It's always fun to see the new costumes we get every election. I hope we get those snazzy blue ones with the shoulder epaulets that look so martial -- maybe with some cool boots like the Nazi's used to wear. I'm a little less clear on preferred head wear. Dems might go with a head scarf to play the identity politics angle with Muslims but I've always been partial to berets. As the green berets show us, if you wear one right it too likes appropriately militaristic.

I took a look at Dylan's web site. On the plus side he openly talked a little bit about systemic corruption. On the down side he talked about absolutely nothing else.

A lot of wanderers in the U.S. political desert recognize that all the duopoly has to offer is a choice of mirages. Come, let us trudge towards empty expanse of sand #1, littered with the bleached bones of Deaniacs and Hope and Changers.

Another "no issues page" empty suit. Fuck. And Dylan Ratigan, too! If anybody had the data to build a decent issues page, it'd be him!

As another one bites the dust.......

@thanatokephaloides I just got an email solicitation from Xochitl Torres Small who is running for congress in New Mexico. The email is titled Red to Blue and simply asks for money. Not a single issue was laid out. I went to her web page and it is also void of any policy or issue positions. Her facebook page is full of the same weasel wording. Why the f**k would I send money to a candidate just because they identify with a color that has become meaningless?

Candidates need to start making public commitments to issues.

Agreed. As I pointed out in this Comment, "if you don't stand for something you'll fall for anything!" And without public, detailed issue commitments, no reason can exist that politicians won't just fall for the next anything that blows along.

And Dylan Ratigan, for Cat's sake! I'm disgusted! Diablo

to Stefanic? I get the numbers reversed--it's either 12 or 21!! NY 21 covers a huge area and I believe all the Dem challengers are from the eastern side of the district. The Dem party has written off the district as in the bag for Republicans, for reasons you stated.
As to Ratigan, he does seem nom-committal on the important issues. I heard an interview on WAMC radio yesterday, and kept getting disappointed at the absence of any stand on health care, education, military spending, the budget, and so on. The bulk of his statements had to do with his authentic roots in Saranac Lake.
There are several interesting candidates heading into the Dem primary in that race, a lot of research in store for the voters!
Thank you for posting this, and we'll see if Ratigan firms up his politics!

candidates running, only one of whom identifies as a Berniecrat, whom I have backed for the past 4, 5 months.
@EyeRound
The others are mods or conservadems.
Ratigan is at least a mod - and Way to the Left of Repub Stefanik.
As much as NY-21 is in the middle of nowhere the KochBros have spent money on Stefanik, Karl Rove has spent money here. And, if she wins this time, it will be her 3rd-in-a-row, she will be the NY-21 Congress Critter for the next 20 years. At least. If not the junior Senator from NY, if she doesn't run for president. That's how big a deal she's perceived here and in "certain circles" on Capitol Hill.
So, yeah, Dylan Ratigan, baby!!

truth to power, and has for as long as I've known about him. He's sharp and unafraid to ruffle the feathers of the real seats of power.

And for me, anybody who came down to Occupy gets high points (personally, I've seen Naomi Klein, John Carlos, Michael Moore, Jesse Jackson and others).

And this was, to use an overused colloquialism of this century, Epic. Money Out of Politics, "you've got a bought Congress":

Of course, Jimmy loves him:

Was just about to say, why isn't his run a pretty big story in the MSM (which I wouldn't know anyway b/c I can't stomach the sewer of propaganda), then I saw this. Gotta say, to that end, the Rational National (David Doel) is doing some pretty good work too.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. Though I have no confidence in our electoral system, it's good for a voice like his to be out there.

Just for posterity, it should be noted that Rattigan speaks truth to power, and has for as long as I've known about him. He's sharp and unafraid to ruffle the feathers of the real seats of power.

And I'm asking him: "go back, Jack, and do it again" by writing and posting an issues page. We know he can do it!

This is the clip of the epic rant:

And didn't know this: read part of a letter from Occupy Colleges on the air on MSNBC.

No wonder he doesn't have another MSM job.

As for his policy page...if it just said he would be concentrating on one and only one issue, the one he's been so passionate about, which is Money Out of Politics (we know he's anti-Big Banks and predatory monopolistic capitalism), as far as I'm concerned that is all I'd have to hear. All else stems for that

Heh...good one here too, the raving Commie:
