Democratic Strategy Remains "Trump's a Sh!thole and We're Not"

Hey Democrats, I see you and your little Fake Resistance, too. It seems that, collectively, as a party/money pit for Billionaires, Dems have decided that running on stuff people want is a losing proposition. Your genius consultants and think tanks have apparently chosen to go with the "Trump's a Horrible, Very Bad Man, So Elect Us Instead" approach to win the upcoming midterm 2018 elections, rather than offer anything of substance to the millions of us suffering in this horrible, terrible, not very good country.

I guess it might work. Somewhat. Maybe. Or not.

As I recall wasn't that Hillary's basic strategy in 2016, a Presidential election year where voter turnout is highest, thus favoring Democrats? Why yes, Steven, yes it was! She was all in on attacking Trump in ads that depicted him as a sexist, racist, Russian appeaser unfit to be President. But on policy? Not so much.

But only 25 percent of advertising supporting [Hillary's] campaign went after Trump on policy grounds, the researchers found. By comparison, every other presidential candidate going back to at least 2000 devoted more than 40 percent of his or her advertising to policy-based attacks. None spent nearly as much time going after an opponent’s personality as Clinton’s ads did. ...

About 90 percent of Clinton’s attack ads went after Trump as an individual — compared with just 10 percent that went after his policies, the study found.

And that worked out so well for Democrats, didn't it. You guys and gals lost the Presidency to a racist reality TV star dunce, and you left the Senate and House firmly in Republican hands. Some might call that a catastrophe. Indeed, I believe many people did!

So one might wonder why you Dems wouldn't consider changing your electoral strategy in 2018, when only House and Senate seats are up for grabs considering Republicans voters typically show up to vote more in off-year elections than those who lean Democratic. I would have thought you'd at least consider backing those policy proposals for which Bernie Sanders, the most popular politician in America, has been barnstorming the country. Proposals for stuff that most Americans who aren't legal fictions or well-paid lobbyists actually want:

1) Single payer health care (a/k/a Medicare for All)

2) Raising the minimum wage

3) Raising taxes on the Wealthiest Americans

4) Protecting us from the Federal Government's ever more intrusive electronic surveillance program

5) Free College Tuition and Student Debt Relief

And that's my short list.

But, it seems you believe doubling down on how racist Trump and his supporters are (as if we didn't already know Trump was a slimy racist, and that yes, some of his supporters are as well) is the better way to go. Well, that and claiming Russia is the most dangerous threat ever to America and that Trump is a Russian puppet controlled by Putin. Policy is only for stupid #BernieBros seems to be the vibe I'm getting from the Dem leadership.

You Dems claim that America can't afford Sanders' proposals.Yet you voted lockstep with your Republican colleagues to increase the military budget by an amount many billions of dollars larger than Trump requested. And we all know how well the Pentagon handles money.

So I suppose the 2018 elections will be more of the same from Democrats: the "We're not as bad as they are so you better vote for us" approach that has worked so well for them over the last eight years. Well, that and relying on billionaires, either as candidates or big money donors to bail them out.

Besides, who really gives a damn about policy proposals to benefit ordinary Americans struggling from today's vicious downward economic spiral anyway?

Only the "Not Democrats," apparently.

campaign we're gonna Love the 2018 campaign! Becuz it's a repeat, more of the same!
And that's only becuz it's the Only direction the DNC /party has without caving to the Berniecrats and moving Left. They're not going to do that in a million years, they'll eat their own first.
So, any chances of picking up House seats is dimmed by their moronic strategy. Yet another anchor tossed our way by the DNC, where it's not about winning, it's about keeping, maintaining the status quo.

@Wink The one thing neither party will tolerate is any movement to the left. They have their enemy, their straw man to slay, and it's those commie leftists. Thing is, people are going to start getting wise that the bus they have been waiting for, for so long, full of promises, ain't gonna never show up.

Hey, did you not get the talking point memo all the corporate media talking heads get to pass around the public? Recycling the same old, same old PR/propaganda is a nod to those demanding greener, more sustainable policies and the old hippies and millennials ought to be going wild over this major concession, the rotten ingrates... it's all they're going to get, anyway.

Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.

A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.

It has been a year now, and enough time has passed showing that the democratic party will NOT adopt in its platform anything that is progressive. When democrats have had a chance to move policy to the left or at least stop Trump's rightward push, the democrats have instead opted out. Starting with voting down a resolution for drug importation from Canada to approving of warrantless searches to approving an obscene increase in Pentagon budget to supporting ME wars to democrats at town hall meetings refusing to support single payer of any sort: not to mention the purging of the DNC of progressive voices.

It is Hillary's strategy. Support the status quo, don't talk about policy, resort to identity politics, and RUSSIA!!

The democrats could take the House this year, and just as easily lose it the following year.

As long as Chump (or anyone like him, i.e. Hillary) is President, ours is the shithole country!

On the one hand, Oprah Winfrey (at least right now) publicly recognizes and preaches the fact that austerity must end. ("You get a car!") On the other, there's no pseudoscientific quack nonsense she doesn't just love, along with the quacks who sell such garbage!

It would appear that the Dems' attempt at wit -- "Trump's a Shithole and We're Not" is only half right....
