Sunday Open Thread: December 3 is United Nations' International Day of Persons with Disabilities
It should be noted that humans do not have disabilities, they have impairments. The societies and cultures in which they live are corrupt and dysfunctional and create disabilities for those with impairments by tailoring the culture, practices and infrastructure of their society to those without impairments. This is something that needs to be rectified. A few wheelchair ramps here and there is an enormously inadequate solution.

I was there when Ozzy invited the audience on stage
He should have known better! I was there working as a union stagehand. A friend of mine was working for the band on that tour. He lost a bunch of personal stuff when the people came backstage and took everything they could grab for souvenirs. Ozzy's management reimbursed him for losses but still...
Heh, no surprise to me. I've never understood Ozzy, but
don't suspect him of genius or even substantial intelligence. Of course, I never listened to him very much, either.

good morning all
Another beautiful day here in paradise. Guess we better enjoy it while we can.
Are we too late to rage against the machine? Sure seems like the machine is rolling forward crushing people in its path. Glad to hide here in the shadow of the mountain...at least for today. There is a reason they have militarized the police.

Thanks for the OT and tunes! All the best to all of you...
“Until justice rolls down like water and righteousness like a mighty stream.”
Good morning, Lookout. Thanks for dropping by. This is
something of a test, so I'll keep it short. Have a nice day.

I AM DISABLED, TAKEN AWAY ABILITIES.
Apologies for caps lock. I miss being able to negotiate uneven ground. Not fond of surprise falls. Not fond of being deliberate. Every foot placement is calculated now. My cerellebrum is shrinking. Working passively on new connections. Play palace for demons.
Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.
Yes, in that sense, abilities lost or taken away, especially
vis-a-vis the outdoor world. What I was driving at was the designed world of modern urban living. I think back to when those with mobility issues desiring ramps were chastised for wanting special treatment, when in fact all they wanted was equal treatment in the form of equal access. There is nothing inherently normal or natural about stairs as opposed to ramps. Multiply that a thousand fold. Those with impaired color vision become "disabled" in the modern urban setting only when society creates systems that require color discernment, resister color codes, stop lights, etc.

Many thanks for the shout-out for people with disabilities!
A music selection this morning joins sensations coming from memories of times gone by, part lonely, part fulfilled feelings rushing in of things left undone, mistakes made, mountains climbed; success and failure mixed with fleeting glances of a tent we had, home to the US of A as we traversed the country multiple times for years in search of a theatre gig.
For what, i dare to ask, although, i know the answer well; rests in the confines of being, somewhere and springs forth on days like today--i want to cry--for love shared, for daring to be in memory.
Thanks, el, for this OT, giving comfort by being here.
My pleasure, Smiley7, thanks for reading.
Have a great afternoon and evening.

Well goody. A little lip service from the UN.
Of course they won't stop the massive handjobs given to Wall Street or endless war or heavens forbid, actually do anything with regards to people with disabilities.
Take a look at Flawer-Duh, for instance. Unless you have a drivers' license and a working vehicle, you may as well kiss any chance of employment besides high stress service jobs goodbye. That's the situation I'm in, and I doubt I'm alone.
Modern education is little more than toeing the line for the capitalist pigs.
Guerrilla Liberalism won't liberate the US or the world from the iron fist of capital.
Good morning, Aspie. As you note, talk is cheap, but at least
they advocate cognizance of the issue. Thanks for reading and good luck with everything down there.

Our society is tailored to people WITH a specific impairment
That is, to PSYCHOPATHS who don't care, and have no possible way to care, whom or what they crush and destroy in their rush to acquire more and ever more money and power. They will not be satisfied until they have eaten the whole world - and maybe not even then.
There is no justice. There can be no peace.
Pretty well summed it up there, thanks.

Stop and Drop 25 cents
Thank you for using "stop and drop"! Americas favorite suicide booth since 2008
Painless peaceful optimal blessing from middle earth:
High-Tech Suicide Machine Makes Death a Painless, Peaceful, Optimal Way to Go
"Once a client has established mental health" then they can achieve a peaceful death? Huh, well that leaves me out. Keep waiting for the 25 cent Stop and Drop I guess, trickle down deathonomics.
This has incredible potential for abuse/misuse
and we can all guess what the primary use for it in the UFSA (United Fascist States of America) will be. Executions at the push of a button, no fuss, no muss, no supply problems, and a simple and easy cleanup. Watch 'em go for it like bears for honey.
And the next step...?
There is no justice. There can be no peace.
"And the next step...?" Homeless cleanup services
When they come for the disabled, I will give them a middle finger and take my own way out.
thanks
Saban and Kushner are pretty friendly, who knew?
Saban was featured heavily in the Podesta and DNC e-mails, and was the guy who said he wanted to sodomize Bernie with a sharp object.
"Obama promised transparency, but Assange is the one who brought it."
Thanks, Devish, and thanks for reading. So
the self-styled centrist wing of the oligarch party kowtows to this particular oligarch, isn't that just a tad non-centrist?
