The Dead End of the Week - 11-3-24
Submitted by joe shikspack on Sun, 11/03/2024 - 3:00pm
Afternoon folks!
Last week, orlbucfan asked if i would put together a deadhead feature, possibly in honor of Phil Lesh, the Dead's bass player who recently passed. So, thinking about it, I figured that I'd come up with a video to get the ball rolling and let other folks contribute their favorite stuff.
So, here's the video that I came up with:
Celebrating Phil Lesh. Big Steve pays tribute to his friend Phil
... and here's a clip of some of my favorite Phil Lesh fretwork:
Grateful Dead - Scarlet Begonias / Fire on the Mountain 5/8/77
Okay, so the floor is yours, contribute as you see fit.

Hi deadenders
Hi Joe and EL,
Thanks for these... Anything is good for me. I love it all. It is a mountain of fantastic music these guys made. My brother plays electric bass and said 'no top 10 bassist list is complete without Phil Lesh'. He was a great player who really knew how to make music work. So creative, and adaptable. Really unique.
Be listenin to some dead....

Not a fan of "top ten" lists, for many reasons,
such as simply not enough, should be much longer. Depending on where on looks for top bassists I note a lot of tunnel vision: no Mingus or Dixon, only electric.
