OT ~ Welcome to Saturday!

Sit-a-while
on swinging porch
where tin-dippers and
sweet water
in cool touches
meet lips
from hand dug wells.

Good morning good people!

Covered-up, medical stuff and traveling keep me away; please enjoy the day and weekend.

“A day spent without the sight or sound of beauty, the contemplation of mystery, or the search of truth is a poverty-stricken day; and a succession of such days is fatal to human life.”
~ Lewis Mumford

Beautiful day today, but a cool front is arriving. Brrrrr...

On Expiration Dates
Expiration dates seem to be on most things
The milk carton lets you know
When to stop short of consuming it
Or pouring it into your warm beverage on the go.

The expiration date on that medicine bottle
Warns you it might be ineffective
And not help to cure what ails you
Causing you to feel worse than before.

I've seen expiration dates on most edibles
Candy bars
Bags of chips
Cans of tomato sauce
Tubs of sour cream.

Expiration dates are most visible
On the material things we buy
But I was so taken aback when
Your expiration date came around today.

I'll miss my friend.

Have a beautiful day, folks! Pleasantry

"The “jumpers” reminded us that one day we will all face only one choice and that is how we will die, not how we will live." Chris Hedges on 9/11

We are busy boarding up the windows, shutting off the water, gas, and electricity, pouring anti-freeze into all of the plumbing elbows, and preparing for the last drive home of the season. We had a beautiful week of Indian Summer with lots of sunshine and temps in the mid 70s. I am always so sorry to see summer go. Winter is great for about 5 minutes.

over the past several weeks I've indulged in watching 2 different operas....which involves a chunk of time adding up to 7 plus hours. Since I live in flyover country I get my opera fix at the movie theater with the Met HD broadcasts. Thank goodness for those, I love them. I know opera is over the top for many, but I was brainwashed at a young age (I suppose) and so I love the form.
Anyway, this week I fell in love with The Magic Flute again. Here is the overture.

For two days I had no DSL service OR outcalling landline service. Turns out I was cut off due to non-payment of the bill. Now all is resolved. 48 hours with no communication is tough, sorry. I still have not found my iPhone.

his moustache?

May be then the lovely people at the EPA, determined to Side-Swiping the Endangered Species Act might have mercy with him. See, having well cared for teeth, a sheaved moustache is really something the "good conservatives" should consider. Such well behaved guy. How could you dare to swipe him under the rug?
