Trump is Insane, But Hillary Clinton is the Devil
For all those democrats, particularly those on partisan democratic party blogs like Daily Kos, who think Hillary Clinton would have been better than Trump the Paler.
Bob Corker, Republican Senator from Tennessee and the Republican Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, said in an interview on Sunday that President Trump was treating his office like “a reality show,” with reckless threats toward other countries that could set the nation “on the path to World War III.”
What a bunch of hooey coming from that guy, a warmonger imperialist who has the military industrial complex stuck up his butt. Hell, they ALL have us on the path to WWIII with their bipartisan support for anything that blows people to smithereens and protects the rich people's "interests". Every single politician from the evil duopoly has jumped on the New American Century Train to WWIII or Bust, one way or another. What a fucking hypocrite, Bob Corker.
But he might be right about Trump, the dude is nuts and clearly has an unstable, vengeful personality. However, we very well could have been even closer to WWIII than we are now had Hillary Clinton won.
How soon the American people forget about the war crimes their government representatives commit, if half are even aware of them. How soon we forget about the murders and the lies and the deceptions. Hell, most people have already forgot that Trump himself is a war criminal that should be brought up on charges of crimes against humanity and waging illegal wars as Commander in Chief (CINC) of the U.S. military imperial empire. He's killed kids. Real kids. He should be in prison, now, along side Clinton, and Bush, Obama, Clinton, Bush, etc., etc.
Last year during the interminable atrocity that was the United States presidential election, many of us tried to remind people about Hillary Clinton, the devil, the warmonger, the murderess, the war criminal who along with fellow war criminal Obama the Great proceeded to attempt to illegally and inhumanely dismember and destroy Libya, Syria and Yemen, among other places, during her short term as Secretary of the Empire.
We should have had a massive boycott of that election, it was the ultimate fraud portrayed as a free election in a democratic political system, which is pure rubbish. How long will we continue to accept that?
Here's a little reminder in case anyone forgot about the real Hillary Clinton.
Comments
This was the calculus many of us made
during the election. Trump is evil and incompetent, Clinton is evil and competent. Trump's agenda may be even worse than Clinton's, but he will accomplish relatively little of it. Clinton would have accomplished much more of hers, as well as cementing neoliberalism in the Democratic party for another generation. However small the chance that we can pry corporatism and imperialism from the cold dead hands of the Democratic party establishment, there would have been exactly zero chance if She had won.
Clinton looked like she was planning to start a shooting war with Russia. Trump looks like he is planning to start a shooting war with North Korea. Of two horrible options I'll take Trump's.

Agree. If Her Heinous had
won so would have Turd Way Neo Liberalism. Bigly. And there would have been damn little chance of course correction any time soon, if ever. The 99% would have been totally hosed, no $15 /hr., no MFA. Thank the gods she lost.

Your comment so succinctly states my reasoning
Sure, they were both evil. But I'll take incompetent evil over competent evil any day of the week. I understand that there are those who don't think she is evil. That, in my mind, is simply a reflection of how barbarous the entire American culture is coupled with how pervasive and effective the propaganda machine is.

@SnappleBC The president being
He has an army (well, literally a lot more than an army) of people who ARE competent to follow his instructions.
For example, Neil Gorsuch is a very evil, radical ideologue - and now he's on the Supreme Court thanks to his name being handed to trump by the Federalist Society. How did trump incompetence protect us?
It matters that Hillary would have appointed a better person to the court.
Pin the Gorsuch thing on Obama
He could have given Merrick Garland a recess appointment and then argued with Congress when they returned. He did nothing. He did nothing for OVER A YEAR, while the seat went begging.
For that matter he could have picked someone better than Garland (who's a Corpocrat) and plugged him/her in the same way.
Instead he sucked his thumbs and whined that the "mean Republicans" wouldn't "let" him do anything.
Disgraceful, and unforgivable.
There is no justice. There can be no peace.
Thank you for saying this
This is one more reason why Obama is called the Empty Suit president. One of many reasons. His choice of Garland was typical of his neocentrist politics. Garland could have been appointed in many ways, but Obama refused to take on the republicans. One would think that they were in charge of his administration instead of him because of the way he let them set his agenda. I don't think he was upset when the democrats lost the house because it gave him cover for not getting any of his legislation passed. He got to hide behind their
telling him that he couldn't do thatobstructionism. They said that they wanted to make him a one term president and yet he kept trying for bipartisan support for his legislation. How did that work out for him? Just the way he wanted it to do. Gawd. I still can't believe that people say that he was the best president since FDR. No seriously, they said that.As you stated, he could have used a recess appointment and Garland would have been able to serve for 18 months before he had to be nominated again.
Did he make a deal with Hillary and let her choose the nominee because he thought she would have won? If so, they could have come up with a nominee that Hillary liked. Instead,
GorpeGorsuch is going to be able to do inestimable damage to this country during his tenure as a Supreme Court justice. This is another part of Obama's legacy. So far it's not looking good for him.
If Roe v Wade is overturned, we can thank Obama! Or any of his other decisions!

Back at the formation of the ACA
I was politically asleep. Even so, the general lay of the land as I understood it was that for a while the Democrats had a supermajority and they failed to implement health care. At some point, Republicans started having negotiating power and we couldn't get real health care reform.
Even in my totally unaware state I wondered why Obama, when thwarted, didn't take it to the streets and the bully pulpit. The man was a very gifted orator. Why didn't he take the case for universal health care to the people?
It was probably a year or two after that that I started to learn why he didn't.

Obama and the democrats played us
During the pseudo debates, Obama made deals with the insurance and pharmaceutical companies while the democrats played with the republicans. In order to get them to vote for it, they let them add amendments that weakened it and they took out the good parts. The democrats knew that republicans weren't ever going to vote for it because they told them so.
Then they gave it to Baucus who had Liz Fowler on his staff. She took a break from working at WellPoint, an insurance company long enough to help write it and then she went back to WellPoint.
After it was written, the democrats passed it through reconciliation which only needed 50 votes to pass which they could have used from the beginning and passed universal health care that came with unicorns, ponies and puppies.
It was all for show because it was a giant giveaway to the insurance and pharmaceutical companies.
Instead of people saving "$2,500"'like Obama said, people insurance went up to almost $5,000 and it's gone up double digits every year since.
There were problems with running a campaign of Joy while committing a genocide? Who could have guessed?
Since you seem to know more than me
I know the Democrats mumble something about not being able to get UHC passed. That made no sense to me because my understanding was that they had a supermajority and even after they didn't that's hardly a "cannot pass" thing.
Do you know what they used for their claim of innocence and the rebuttal to it?
Thanks in advance

They used their standard standing excuse
They told us that they didn't have the votes to pass single payer, the public option or any legislation that we wanted. This turned out to be a big lie because they used reconciliation which only needs 50 votes to pass. Once upon a time, the rules of congress said that any business in congress only needed 51 votes to pass legislation, but this rule was changed for some unknown reason and now the parties need 60 votes to pass legislation. And both parties can use the filibuster or place holds on legislation for certain legislation and certain confirmations. I think. I'm not sure about this last one.
So yeah, the democrats kept telling us that they didn't have the 60 votes to pass the ACA because their party gets to play "free will" while the republicans used to vote as one. And for some reason, only republicans could use the filibuster and place holds when they were the minority party, but when democrats were the minority party, they never did that.
After
wastingworking for over a year on the ACA, they decided to use reconciliation to pass it which as I mentioned only needed 50-51 votes to pass it. This is why they could have passed anything they wanted. Which they did. They wanted this horrifying give away to the insurance and pharmaceutical companies bill that Obama let them create. The reason why the republicans' attempts to repeal the ACA kept failing was because the republicans were using reconciliation to repeal it. They needed 50 or maybe 51 votes to pass and since no democrats were voting for it, we needed McCain and the two women to vote against it.
The democrats let Lieberman walk over them after he helped McCain during his campaign against Obama. He sat on a committee and they could have told him to get on board or he would lose his position. Again, they had the power to make him vote for the ACA, but they didn't. Why? Kabuki theater.
Apparently according to the rules of congress, the parties can use reconciliation for certain budget legislation and the ACA fell into that category. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on this.
And as you stated, they held all branches of government for the two years after Obama was elected and he sighed in relief when democrats lost the house. This was the start of republicans telling Obama that he couldn't pass his legislation. Even when they were willing to negotiate with him, he usually gave them more than what they were asking for. So did the democrats. Remember all the years that we were telling democrats to grow spines and stand up to the republicans? Or when we said that Obama was playing 11 dimensional chess and that he had republicans right where he wanted them? How many years did we waste on this before we figured that he was playing us and that he had no intention to uphold his campaign promises? Many people figured that out and tried to tell us that, but just like the members of ToP, we refused to listen to them.
Sigh
There were problems with running a campaign of Joy while committing a genocide? Who could have guessed?
Thank you... an additional question
So during those first two years, they did not have a supermajority as I thought. Do you happen to know what the seat counts were (or where to find that out?)
I'd really like to get this one nailed down in my head because it comes up regularly when discussing health care with Democrats. I need to know my facts better.

Well, we actually were members of TOP back then - and at least some of us certainly had no idea of the various layers and degree of absolute corruption running US government front-puppets/representatives. The number of self-interest groups, corporations/institutions, foreign governments and billionaires purchasing policy and variously involved in US government corruption of which I've heard is astounding and there always seem to be more surfacing.
The whole ugly, leprous mess needs to come down; regime change is required to bring democracy to America.

republicansHarlem Globetrotters. We didn't even need to spend money up front for the tickets to the games. The money was taken out of our general funds and given directly to the insurance and pharmaceutical companies. Sweet deal, huh?

But is any of this a President's decision to make, or does he just get a list, as with cabinet appointments, from The Psychopaths/Parasites That Be and instructions on whether or not they are to actually be appointed? Threatening to splatter the 1st family over the landscape might encourage cooperation considerably...
I seem to (rather vaguely) recall that there were a rash of Secret Security fails at one point with President Obama, a number of them involving White House fence hopping, one in a elevator where somebody dressed as a workman? was allowed to ride up with the President, one of a woman dropping off a package in the road for him just outside the White House fence, with what I seem to recall were reported as (drunken?) off-duty Secret Service screeching wildly up in a car just after she left and before guards had picked up the package, nearly running over the package and/or hitting the White House fence - and one fence-hopper making it into the 1st Family's living area, just as Obama had seen his wife and kids off in a helicopter? . That intruder was, I read at the time, only seen and tackled by chance.
Taken together, it all sounded to me at the time rather like threats/warnings to exert pressure, as though creating a vulnerability and just showing how easy it would be to get access to Obama and his family...
Then some particularly horrible Republican wanted to take charge of the Obamas security, apparently having the right to do this - and it struck me as though it sounded rather like another threat, when heard on the video.
That was before Obama started pushing the TPP, as I recall, which may or may not be accurate or related.
I don't recall enough detail to apparently find the right search terms for these incidents, although I do recall posting about them some time back, on DKos.
There had been a lot of articles on this way back when, but I only finally found something when I recalled the Repub's name, although this is an unfamiliar article (no mention in here of various things I'd thought I'd remembered, sych as [the criminal] Darrell Issa speaking on a video about taking over Obama's security detail if something wasn't done,) and it fails to mention the package left in the road by a woman just before that said-to-be-drunken off-duty security (if I recall correctly) almost driving through the White House fence incident.
There were complaints at the time about these being downplayed and portrayed as being far less hazardous than they were, though, with some pretty drastic omissions discovered.
On the other hand, my memory often sucks...

Just to add a minor sentence reconstruction which is at least equally pertinent this way:
'... lawmakers from both parties ... need to be independently investigated as the bureaucracy '...could no longer police itself and was endangering the very people it is sworn to protect. ...'
All I know for sure is that it's a mad House...
This article covers a multitude of Issa's sins, (for many of which charges were, rather interestingly, dropped) some of which are mentioned in excerpts quoted below. The story of that car alarm firm I can rather vaguely recall as being a tale in itself.

Presidents are just puppet heads for the puppet masters. I don't know if they were always so impotent, or this was done after FDR passed the new deal. But it's obvious that the office has been neutered.
There were problems with running a campaign of Joy while committing a genocide? Who could have guessed?
The supreme court is probably the strongest case for her.
I'll handle the separate pieces separately,
.The president being 'incompetent' isn't the protection you think.
I'm not sure how much protection you thought I saw there but honestly, hoping for protection in the randomness of evil is a pretty thin hope. It's just better than the alternative.
It matters that Hillary would have appointed a better person to the court
I agree but even then probably not as strongly as you. Yes, she would've put someone there who was better from a civil rights standpoint. But whoever she put there would also be solidly in the camp of the plutocrats.
Here's my issue with that. Sure, civil rights is nice and all, but it really doesn't help if the entire world goes up in flames while all of us of all colors and persuasions are getting sick and dying the world those plutocrats have created. Having some judge declare that gays can get married is nice, but it isn't as nice as declaring that those same gays can put food on their table, a roof over their heads, and handle any required medical intervention. It isn't as nice as making sure they have jobs, etc.
Fundamentally, I see the Democratic party's focus on social justice as both predictable and pointless. It's predictable because of COURSE they focus on that. It's all they have. It's pointless in the same sense rearrange deck chairs on the Titanic is pointless. Now matter how swell that new arrangement, they're all going to the bottom of the sea.
Unlike Democrats, I actually do care about blacks, women, children, and Muslims. But my concern extends to their entire lives not whether they can get a wedding cake made at the bakery of their choice. I also happen to care about those same groups when they don't live in the US. The fact that I do is what makes me a liberal. The fact that Democrats don't is a part of what makes them neoliberals.

at one of her campaign rallies.
And her sycophants would answer NO! to her questions.

Great comment! If I may, I'd like to add that Hillary had promised to bring Bibi in for consultation regarding policy within the first month of her taking office and wanted a to impose a no-fly zone over Syria, where Russian planes would have been shot down.
Hillary would definitely have 'got things done' and quite likely all of us done and over with long before now because Her lot apparently believe that they personally can survive all-out nuclear war - and still have a habitable planet when they come out of the luxury bunkers they believe will see them through what they imagine to be limited and short-term results.

I don't see HRC as competent
Her fundamental incompetence is the reason she lost. To Trump! Good grief, it takes really bad skills to pull that off. How she's managed to maintain a reputation of being competent and smart, despite consistently demonstrating vast incompetence and absolutely terrible thinking, decisions, and judgment, I'll never understand.
As I've said since before the election, she and Trump are both totally unacceptable and unfit for office. Nothing has changed. My vote still stands: no to both. I'd cast the same vote again today.
@CS in AZ Which makes you
But I've yet to see anyone who washed their hands take that responsibility pretty much at all.
Instead it seems they criticize both and consider that the whole issue.
So trump taking healthcare from millions of kids Hillary wouldn't, if he had taken healthcare from 25 million Americans Hillary wouldn't, the many deportations Hillary wouldn't do, and much more.
You just won't let go, will you!
I wish we all could live in that alternate reality you've dreamed up, where Hillary Rodham Clinton would actually do things that benefited the underpeople rather than her super-rich buddies and masters.
She despises us. Is it any wonder that we respond in kind?
There is no justice. There can be no peace.
Yup, I have superpowers! I personally made Her lose
I personally made Her and Bill and the DNC decide to use the "pied piper" strategy of propping up Trump as Her opponent.
Then I personally made Her and her DNC minions rig the dem nomination for her, and I personally made her such a horrible loser candidate that she couldn't even beat her chosen opponent.
All me!!! Fear me, I tell you. In fact, please go and inform Hillary Central that I will personally do it again, if they ram Her or any other warmongering liar down our throats next time. It's so cool that I'm personally in charge of the presidency.
You know, why wait until next time? Since I've suddenly become so all powerful, you can inform them that I've chosen Bernie Sanders to replace Trump, effective immediately, and Big Al from Caucus99% will be VP, or Secretary of State, or whatever position he wants, his choice. Thank you.
@CS in AZ
OMG - are you Super-Putin in disguise? Here, there, everywhere and controlling all of the powers of Earth, Air, Water and Phlogiston? Surely there can't be two like this! Or is this just the manifestation of the united power of the American voter when voting against the one of two psychopathic 'electoral choices' that cheated the American voter of their rare chance of a primary candidate who actually believed in democracy?

Yes, I am personally responsible
I'm personally responsible for that and a wide variety of other things. I voted for Obama in 2008 and so there is quite a bit of blood on my hands.
I know of no other method of atonement than to seek to undo that which I have done. But you can bet I feel the burden of that guilt on my shoulders. You can also safely bet that I am pretty torqued at Obama & Co. for deceiving me. But sadly, I cannot pin the blame on them because the information was available to me and even partially in my mental vision. I just didn't care enough to ... you know ... wonder why we were bombing random people in various spots on the globe. Too busy you know.

My condolences
I personally believe that those who are responsible, in principle and in fact, are those who gained financially or through influence by committing and organizing these evil causes. And I can assure you, sadly, that all of them are sleeping just fine.
There is always Music amongst the trees in the Garden, but our hearts must be very quiet to hear it. ~ Minnie Aumonier
No. Simply no. Do not try to share your blame with me
I accept responsibility for my choices. I voted for Jill Stein. I'm willing to stand behind that. The folks who voted for Trump are reasonably responsible for Trump. Those who voted for Clinton... well... they share some blame since Clinton actively assisted Trump's candidacy. You know, her "pied piper strategy".
It is not my fault that the Democratic party is so corrupt that they could not beat Trump. I'm trying to fix that. What I will not do is accept the blame for other people's evil and other people's decisions. I will try to stop them, but I won't accept blame for them.
Out of curiosity though, what is the end-game for your lesser of two evil's strategy. I ask because that's where I get caught. If we managed to stop Trump, all that means is that we went 90 miles further down the road of evil rather than 100. That is not a victory. What is your plan to actually achieve something resembling liberalism? How do you think electing Hillary would've forwarded that plan?
If you were going to convince me (or most of the folks here), you're going to need to do better than blame. You're going to need to acknowledge the problems we are facing and you're going to need a real strategy to convince me with. As it sits, I DO have a strategy. It's a long-term one but it's certainly better than "a somewhat slower drift into hell".

This is getting old fast
You don't get to tell us what you think we get wrong, correct our opinions or any of the other things you have been saying here. If someone voted for anyone besides Hillary, that doesn't make them responsible for what Trump does. He is the only person responsible for his actions. My vote for whomever I voted for doesn't mean that I voted for a different person, it means that I voted for the person I did.
This site has one rule and that is don't be a dick. Sorry to say this, but you are putting your toes across the line.
As I stated before, you are welcome to your opinion, but you are not welcome to tell us ours. Please remember to color inside the lines.

There were problems with running a campaign of Joy while committing a genocide? Who could have guessed?
Craig, Craig, Craig
Obama deported more people than any other president. Just like he prosecuted more people under the espionage act than any other president. Just like he dropped more bombs on countries than any other president since WWII.
The only person he prosecuted for torture was the person who reported it.
The only person he prosecuted for war crimes was the only person who told us about it.
He and Hillary are responsible for destroying Libya, he invaded both Libya and Syria on false pretenses, just like Bush did in Iraq. Which Hillary voted for and said that she would vote for it again.
Hillary's second in command, Victoria Nuland, wife of Robert Kagan who helped write the Project for a new American Century, was responsible for the coup in Ukraine.
His administration backed the neo Nazis in Ukraine who set a building on fire and then shot people as they fled the building.
Obama armed, funded and trained Al Qaida in Syria, has protected ISIS from Russia and Hillary and the CIA were responsible for the sarin gas attack by the 'moderate Syrian rebels' after they gave it to them when they raided the Libyan weapons that they ran out of the embassy in Benghazi.
Obama dropped over 26,500 bombs just last year alone.
These are only a few of the things that both Hillary and Obama did. I knew what Hillary had done and that's why I didn't want her anywhere near the White House again. This is on top of the damage that the Clintons did to this country during his two terms.
Let's not forget that Clinton's sanctions on Iraq killed over a million people, including 500,000 children.
Now tell me how bad Trump is or will be. Maybe you can watch the video in this essay and then read my sigline.

The message Hillary said she wanted to send to the parents evidently was that TPTB running America don't care if the shell-shocked, uprooted, terrified and family-deprived children die en route back to their desperate-to-try-to-save-their-kids-even-if-they-die-themselves parents or with them, if their parents are still alive and they manage to find them.
One other thing: correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that Hillary was only Secretary of State up until 2013 and has (thank goodness!) held no public office since.
What's the official excuse for people like Her and Dick Cheney still operating as though they were legally able to (illegally) abuse any public office in order to continue carrying forward the objectives of the other pathologically greedy and ruthless self-interests ruining the country and the world through control over the government and military of the American people?
Oh, right, Cheney says he's 'just helping' the Trump Admin, so that's his shtick - what's Hillary's?

The American people did not want to be presented with effectively nothing but 'choices' between two pathologically greedy, corrupt and self-interested Presidential candidates; they'd overall wanted Bernie Sanders and a government finally working for - rather than against - the public interest.
The selectoral result in either case would not be their choice as they were, in reality, given none and Trump was not their fault, any more than the Clintons would have been.

As is always true
...we all have a wide variety of areas in which we are competent and not. Hillary, self-evidently, is an utterly awful campaigner. I mean seriously, if she could've lied even just a tiny bit better she'd have won. But I have a great deal of respect for her intelligence and her knowledge of how the [corrupt] levers of power work. I remain quite convinced that had she made it to President she would've enacted much more of her actual (rather than stated) plans.

Clinton/Trump was about the same choice as...
Ted Bundy versus Jeffrey Dahlmer.
Either way, a sick serial killer murders you. But Jeffrey also eats you.
Some fucking choice we were presented with after they basically put a horse's head in Bernie's bed and told him to stop fighting.
The only thing that is real in our fake political system is the "wealth primary".
Bundy is Scarier Because He LOOKS and SOUNDS Sensible.
Dahmer looked and acted freaky -- his dysfunction on his sleeve.
People would avoid Dahmer and be captivated by Bundy.
Which is more dangerous?
This is a solid metaphor for Establishment support.
“Tactics without strategy is the noise before defeat.” ~ Sun Tzu
That's a good point. Bundy was high-functioning.
I vaguely recall some documentary in which he casually washed his car, inside and out, as if saying to the watching FBI "I'm destroying the evidence." He was crazy, AND he was smart.
And so was** Hillary more high-functioning than Trump.
** She has really gone silent, except for the book. I will be really interested to see if she turns up with some severe neurological problem a year or two down the road.
Limited public appearances
That was her main problem near the end of the campaign, I think, perhaps even why she lost the electoral college. She just couldn't maintain the facade of good health that many hours per week, and they focused her appearances on fund raisers rather than campaigning in the rust belt. Now she can appear when she feels up to it, and cancel if she needs to, without undue publicity.

Agree with you Big Al, but people around me give me incredulous looks when I say things like this. My first choice would obviously be none of the above, but no one has convinced me yet that the devil we know, be it Her or Pence (to satisfy the impeachment fantasy), would be an improvement on the crazy we have. The reality is, people have an issue with Trump's boorish nature and political un-correctness, which is all part of his willingness to play the heel, but they don't really care about the actual policies. Even if Her would do the same thing as Trump on an issue, Her is somehow preferable for reasons no one can ever explain.
Idolizing a politician is like believing the stripper really likes you.
I hear ya Dr. John
Certainly those not keenly aware of the crimes of the U.S. empire and oligarchy would be affected like you say.
@Big Al
And it's the next step anyway. Whoever was in the hot seat would be expected to carry out the next stage of the PTB's plan.
Clinton would be having a great time, yucking it up in consultations with Bibi and enjoying every moment of the attacks on the people of various countries; did Trump just not want to bother with the day-to-day bombing and droning and droning of civilians around the world, or might he perhaps have handed control over to the the Generals at least in part because he had no control over what was planned and to be done anyway and had no stomach for it? Or didn't want to be directly responsible for ordering war crimes (off a list?) potentially (finally, please!!!) tried in international courts, planning to throw the Generals under the bus in his stead?
Trump's definitely sociopathic but I've yet to hear of him reveling specifically in the horrible deaths of any individuals, so he may not be a full-blown psychopath in the manner of Hillary. Although I suppose we'll hear if he begins to develop a taste for torture and particularly cruel murders he's had a hand in, one way or another.

This is what a lot people are saying
Trump isn't the problem, he is the symptom of our society. His election can be put directly on what Obama did and didn't do during his tenure.
The democrats are just as complicit in why Trump is president now. Besides them not bothering to run decent or any candidates against republicans, their walking away and abandoning their principles is the reasons why they lost over 1,000 seats at the federal and state levels as well as many states governorships.
This country is sick and the only thing left to do is burn down our political system and start over again.

100 percent agree
The problem I have is similar to Dr. Carpenter's: I am unable to successfully argue your premise with those who haven't already joined the choir. Their response is always, "You can't know that Hillary would have done [X,Y,Z]. That's idle speculation and of course she would have been better than Trump."
Every. Single. Time.
No matter if I respond, "You can't know that she would have been better than Trump," because fingers are already securely wedged into ears.

I call them matrix people
Honestly, I get it. They are surrounded, 24x7, by a constant and pervasive set of lies. I think the analogy of "The Matrix" is spot on. And just like in the movie, I do not blame them for being caught. I was caught up until a few years ago. I just recognize that they are not my ally and really cannot be my ally because they don't even know what battle is being waged. They don't know the map. They don't know the players. They don't know the plans. Instead, they live in their liberal bubble pontificating to the rest of us.
Heck, it's not even like I think their battles are unimportant. It's just they are focused on the shadow cast into the matrix by one particular tiny aspect of the real war. Their part of the battle is still a legitimate and important part. But the idea that anything useful can come from fighting a shadow battle in a tiny corner of the whole battlefield seems... unlikely.
More urgently though, if I banded together with and we won... won everything we had hoped for and more... how does that change much at all? I'll use Robyn as an example since she posts here and I'm hugely sympathetic to her cause. But let's assume that we got the whole laundry list for her. All that would change is who drowns first, second, and third as the Titanic slips under the waves. The price-tag for that victory, however, would be simply accepting that we're all going to drown. No thanks. I prefer to try to save the ship. If I were gay or Trans I'd say the same thing out of self-interest as well as civic-mindedness.

One minor disagreement
If Hillary had been elected we would not be closer to WW3, we would already be dead or eating glowing cockroaches.
A theory I'm surprised that no one has thought of: Theresa May said to parliament, when asked if she didn't care that nuking a Russian city would kill 100,000 innocent civilians, she said "Yes! What's the use of having a deterrent if you don't use it?" Now, let's try being rational (about Theresa May?) Britain would not sanely attack Russia without being sure of American support, so we can assume that May had assurance. Obama (it was before the election) would never give her that assurance, at least not publicly, so she must have been planning with Hillary. And it just so happened that a short time later Britain tested a sub based nuclear missile - and it failed. Is it possible that the Royal Navy sabotaged WW3?
On to Biden since 1973
I think Obama did support May
He and NATO were building up troops and military equipment in countries that surround Russia. Poland already has missile defense shields weapons and other countries got some too. This is one of the reasons for the Russian propaganda. They have been accused of aggression and interfering with other country's elections, which was bogus. Obama and now the Trump administration is saying that they were responsible for the Ukraine coup and being aggressive in Syria which is also bogus. Assad invited Russia into Syria to help defend him from an American coup. America is building base in Syria which is against the Nuremberg laws, but they don't seem to apply to our government and military. We are exceptional, don't ever forget that.
There were problems with running a campaign of Joy while committing a genocide? Who could have guessed?

They rely upon the light of their projections onto designated targets of what they do themselves to blind observers, repeating the same strategies and tactics, over and over again, bolstered by their Big lies repeated endlessly by corporate media - because they themselves are The Only True Exceptionals and the norms, kidded into thinking they're in the Exceptional Club, are too stupid to ever figure them out... Psychopaths, go figure!
They can't help having damaged brains missing (among other things) the capacity of humanity - they can only be kept out of situations where they have any power to harm others.
And they can be so easily identified by actions and attitudes lacking in empathy, ethics, humanity, etc. which ID can be verified with brain scanning in independently performed empathy testing publicized by law on a recorded and freely available live-stream prior to running for any public office or appointment to any public position, where a fail disqualifies them - to save society in future.

Many of us didn't.
And to answer the objection that complete boycotters were virtually "voting" for whoever won, many of us cast ballots demanding a non-Duopoly President.

But, but, but..........................
Hillary only voted for the AUMF to give Bush more time to have the inspectors investigate whether Saddam had gotten rid of his WMDs. This is what we told ad nauseum by her dumb ass supporters. It didn't matter how many times we posted links to the statements she made in the video where she parroted Dick Cheney or posted videos of her saying that Saddam had WMDS, repeated the lie that he met with members of Al Qaida and all the other things she said that went far beyond "giving Bush more time for the inspections", they would not believe that, just as they wouldn't believe that Obama's foreign policies went further that Bush's. He got away with killing 3 Americans without due process because he said that they were an imminent threat and there wasn't time to arrest them. Exactly what was their threatening behavior? Al Walki was giving a speech in a Mosque, his son was sitting at an outside cafe and his cousin was sitting with him. Wow, that should have had me shaking in my boots.
She told Bill to go into Kosovo even though he wasn't in favor of it. This was the start of her being for every military intervention she saw.
Big f*cking deal that we didn't lose a single soldier in Libya. The people in Libya lost hundreds of thousands friends and family members in the illegal invasion. Libya is in ruins, slavery and sex trafficking is a huge problem and the people who weren't able to leave are faced with violence every day. The ones who were able to leave and didn't drown while crossing the sea, are living in absolutely deplorable conditions in refugee camps. The Nuremberg law says that it is the ultimate war crime to invade a country that hasn't threatened it. The US has broken this law countless times since it was instigated, yet not one of the NATO countries has had the balls to hold us accountable for them.
People say that Obama had the duty to hold the Bush administration accountable for torture, but no one has said that they should have been accountable for the Iraq war. Even the Afghanistan war was illegal because it hadn't threatened us or were involved in the 9l1
false flagattacks. For Gawd's sake: "I think an argument can be made for Assad being accused of crimes against humanity and I think that he would fit in to that" she said after gleefully cheering Gaddafi's brutal death that she helped set up. Her reaction to the video should have disqualified her to run for the presidency or any other political office.
Look at Ellen happily dancing with the war criminal after she spent 8 years protesting against what Bush was doing. But that is water under the bridge. She has had him on her show and cuddled up with him in a giant hug just because he wasn't as bad as Trump is.
No Norm, voting for a third party candidate isn't a vote for Trump, it's a vote for a third party candidate. Period. In this country, voters HAVE THE RIGHT to vote for anyone that they feel is considered worthy of their vote.
How you could have spent months pointed out Hillary's discrepancies and then turn around and say that you feel that you have to vote for her is beyond my comprehension. She would bring every one of those discrepancies into office.
Good lord, the amnesia this country has for previous war criminals is beyond insane. People wish that Obama was still president even though he did nothing to help mainstream Americans, came into office inheriting two wars and left with 8-9 wars going on, and is responsible for up to 20 million people in Yemen dying from disease and starvation. Yep, what's not to love about this man?
Oh good lord, there is ANOTHER diary about how Russia placed ads on social media platforms. After over a year, Facebook and Twitter have found some ads that prove this and now Google has finally found some ads that the Russians placed. Again, why haven't we been shown these ads that flipped the

Regarding those Wall Street speeches she got paid $250,000 for, in one of them she is answering Dimon's question of how many troops would be needed if she imposed a no fly zone in Syria and she said that it would take up to 70,000. Wouldn't one think that a speech to financial people would be about finances? They were. Wall Street make a shit load of money from wars, especially when they finance both sides. I too voted third party, despite the heated efforts of an old friend -- who incidentally has read countless books on Hitler and WWII but hadn't connected the dem dots -- who asserted that the republican candidate represented existential disaster.
The world feared Her more than Trump
Not only feared Her but despised her. I got a earful on my last trip from a room of people from all over the world. The destruction of Libya has left a really really strong hatred of her. Many of my friends would visit Libya, the crown jewel of North Africa. It was prosperous, secular, and stable and now a mess. To my friends this was a particularly viscous war crime. They also see her as one of the most corrupt public figures in the world. Pay to play Clinton Foundation? Bullshit --- graft!
We had a choice of either viscous crap or stupid crap. I'm hoping that Trump is playing a really weak hand and has resorted to bluffing. The consequences of so many of his impulses internationally will be horrendous. He doesn't know what he is doing, but Her does and that would have meant certain catastrophe.
The US would have maintained its position of a hegemon until 2040. Bush the junior idiot reduced that by 15 years. Trump will finish off the US as the dominant hegemon in two years. Prepare to see other countries stepping into the power void. Fortunately the major two candidates, Russia and China are well run, moderate, and display much more wisdom when it comes to war. US as the one and only exceptional nation leaving a trail of dead and mangled bodies all over the globe is about to come to an end. Just keep your fingers crossed that the carnage caused ny a dying behemoth is minimum.
Capitalism has always been the rule of the people by the oligarchs. You only have two choices, eliminate them or restrict their power.

Hillary's supporters refused to acknowledge what she did to this country. I'll give them one thing. They have stayed silent on Trump's war crimes. They are too focused on his reality tv show As the Oval Office turns.
I can't get over how the rest of the world was okay with this. This country has been destroying people's lives since its inception and the rest of the world just yawns or joined in. NATO was created to stop the next Hitler. This is pure bullshit. We brought some of the worst Nazi scientists here after WWII to carry on their work. Why was that acceptable to Israel?
Hopefully, with Trump being such an arrogant ass and pissing off the leaders of the other countries, they will decide it's time for this country to go its own way and they will stop being our lapdawgs.

I don't believe Trump is insane. I feel he's developmentally challenged. He's stuck at the mental age of a pubescent 13 year old boy, with all the emotional turmoil, anger, mood swings, and revenge fantasies that entails. He's just playing at being an adult.
I kind of think that too.
Bush in a Pant Suit, But Cleverer, Sneakier, More Evil
Bush was an utterly incurious drunk frat boy chicken hawk who would be in a meth clinic now were it not for his Daddy, the family $$, and the general stupidity/ignorance of the American Public. While Cheney is unabashedly evil, Bush to me seemed merely a stupid asshole, congenitally devoid of a conscience, happier torturing little animals/bugs as a child and clearing brush in Texas as an adult, a task he was ideally suited for. HER on the other hand should have known better, but her lust for power/ambition/riding in the Black Explorer convoy turned her into a cold, calculating, lying Cruella de Ville. Hundreds of thousands, millions in fact (it all becomes of a piece I would imagine, after Person # 1) could die, as long as her grasping objectives were met. While the cackling over Qaddafi was indeed revelatory of a deeply pathological person, and should have automatically disqualified her from any public office, that disqualification should have come earlier with her vote for Bush's AUMF-- a vote NOT EVEN INFORMED by the reading of the military brief. It was clear to so many of us then that she knew it was all Bushian Bullshit, and was only making a calculated decision so she wouldn't be accused of being 'soft on terror' when she ran for the highest office. (A decision, if we are to believe her, that she only made after all those lucrative speeches to Wall Street-- "I didn't know I was going to run then," she lied, defending herself.) On the contrary, that decision was made when she moved to Arkansas with Bill, when they spoke of 'Bill, then Hill.' This and 10,000 other fabrications, machinations, and equivocations told anyone with half a brain that she was as phony as they come; 52% of the public despised her before the first ballot was counted, and that number only rose as she hit the campaign trail, or more accurately the money trail. After losing to Obama, no chance of that happening again would be allowed: hence the grooming of Trump and her campaign's command to her media people that they promote and legitimatize him; the 709 superdelegates; the stacking of Southern primaries early on; the slime-ball Brockian whisper campaign that Bernie was racist, sexist, etc; the collusion with the DNC, the media, the entire Dem power structure, etc etc.
And guess what-- she still didn't win. As with Britain's Brexit, if the system won't serve the people, then the people would rather smash it, then see it prevail. As I've said before, Clinton Inc (as I call them) has been a cancer on the American body politic in general and the Democratic Party in particular since the day they slimed their Turd Way into Washington, lowering the bar to a level of corruption, nepotism, and pay-to-play (all the while fucking over the little people and promulgating empire while talking Identity Politics-- Cheney with a rainbow flag and an African-American wife, perhaps--- not seen since the hapless Ulysses S. Grant admin.
This is all by way of saying that we indeed dodged a bullet. Trump is everything his critics say he is, an international embarrassment that represents the very worst of America. But the biggest cockroach in the Neoliberal brood has been stepped upon; they called our lesser-evil bluff once too often, and we said enough. There is hope now, even at this dark hour...

Great comment
this
has been proven to be a lie because she had collected as many delegates as she could before she gave her speeches to her Wall Street friends. This was against election laws too, but things like that don't matter to the Clintons.
One of the reasons why she and her campaign pushed for Trump to be the republican candidate was because she knew that her email server use was going to be a big problem with the voters. This was one way to deflect people's attention from them.,
I still don't understand what Comey did. He has been a friend to the Clintons since Bill's terms and he was told to stand down by Obama, so why did he say that she was careless with her emails and that she had sent classified information on it? Plus he said that anyone else who had done what she did would go to prison. He didn't have to say anything about his decision to not charge her. Then he told congress that he was reopening his investigation two weeks before the election. He had to know how this would affect it. I'm glad that he did all that, just wondering why if he was their friend?
