The New Midlife Crisis

Interesting article at Oprah.com - While reading it I got one of my Big Picture epiphanies. Look beyond the copy discussing parenting pressures and time deficits because it traces the outline of a disease to which our nation is succumbing.

I called my best friend, a reporter a few years older than me who grew up in the Midwest. She has three children and lives on a quiet, leafy street in Washington, D.C., with her boyfriend. They recently adopted a dog.

"Hey," I said, happy to have caught her on a break from her job, "do you know anyone having a midlife crisis I could talk to?"

The phone was silent for a second.

Finally, she said, "I'm trying to think of any woman I know who's not."

For a while now I've posited that TPTB prefer a crappy jobs outlook because it helps them lower their labor costs. This article helped put that into perspective. The GOP is angling to make Social Security go bankrupt. Pensions have all been raided. Incomes are stagnant and job security is perilous.

What will the future look like? What is TPTB's endgame? A dystopian future is not far off, where widespread poverty rips through the middle class who will have become unable to afford their previous lifestyles.

Will the government step up and knit a giant new safety net? Hahahahaha
Will the government allow millions to die of starvation and exposure? Hmmmmm
Is this just a long-term asset forfeiture strategy?

cause that's where we've been thrown. The corporate government promotes the profit of the 1%.

Time to practice some self-reliance and community cooperation. The gov't has no interest in serving the people...just the rich people! Nice video explaining the rigged game that Snoopydawg posted in another essay - (6 min)

@Lookout We're really not talking about the 1% even, it's more like the 0.01%. I know they say that greed is insatiable, there's never enough, but I wonder about the ulterior motives the super-uber-rich may have. The Rothschild family is reportedly worth $2 Trillion dollars, and that's the wealth we know about (some global entity reported that $20 Trillion had gone untracked the other day). When you're worth a million dollars, a million times over, how does any additional wealth change the game for you? There's no investment that is beyond you, nothing that you can not buy. At this point maintaining the paradigm of serfdom over socialism must serve a further goal.

I hypothesize that our financial enslavement is a shackle that keeps us from spiritual freedom, because a spiritually enlightened race might actually eliminate currency. It's circular in a way. our serfdom isn't so much a way of TPTB wielding power for its own sake, but a way of preventing spiritual progress because that's what really threatens the status quo.

to escape the surly bonds of the dollar. However, whether we use Bitcoin or Dollars, it makes no difference if we have none of either.

Also makes me suspicious that banks are getting involved...

Capitalism is simply hard to escape. There's always Muhammad Yunus' Gramen bank
http://www.grameen-info.org/grameen-founder-muhammad-yunus/ focused on helping the poor with microloans. They have branches in the US (NYC and other urban areas) but they won't let them be called banks because they don't screw their clients like other organizations called banks.

@Lookout That's very interesting about the micro loan bank. I was watching a segment on RT about crypto-currencies and how California will collect the anticipated $1 Billion in pot taxes if no federal bank will allow "drug" money. The only solution offered was the only private bank in the USA, based in N. Dakota. This was also the segment that discussed the disappearance of $20 Trillion in monetary supply, a problem which would be eliminated with crypto-currencies.

From Wikipedia:
In addition to denoting a cannibalistic monster from their traditional folklore, Native Americans also understand the wendigo conceptually. As a concept, the wendigo can apply to any person, idea, or movement infected by a corrosive drive toward self-aggrandizing greed and excessive consumption, traits that sow disharmony and destruction if left unchecked. Ojibwe scholar Brady DeSanti asserts that the wendigo “can be understood as a marker indicating . . . a person . . . imbalanced both internally and toward the larger community of human and spiritual beings around them."[26] Out of equilibrium and estranged by their communities, individuals afflicted by the wendigo spirit unravel and destroy the environmental balance around them.

@strollingone Have you read the books "Wetiko: The Greatest Epidemic Sickness Known to Humanity" and the follow-up "Dispelling Wetiko", by Paul Levy (who also wrote "The Madness of George W. Bush")?

These are a discussion of wetiko (variant spelling of wendigo, witigo, etc.) from a socio-political and psycho-spiritual perspective. Levy likens wetiko to a disease or virus that has taken over our global governing systems as well as human consciousness, thereby taking over and feeding off our sovereignty as human beings, individually and collectively.

@Centaurea

No. I had no idea. I learned of Wendigo as a lad and thought it important enough to remember. Then I started seeing it in its more generalized form and realized that it is real. I have heard of it as a clinical description of a psychosis. Thank you very much, Centaurea. I will get the first book and read it.

I don't think I CAN go back to sleep....sometimes I don't sleep much at all.

That video is one of my favorites and I posted it on GOS quite a few times. I called it, the crayon version of Gilens & Page.

While we have our friends who live in the other countries within the Empire, in general, we are all on our own with regards to getting things done.

I do not believe the empire will help anyone but the Deep State Emperors who hide behind anonymity.

I think it really will take a Teutoberg before the Emperors get a clue that it's over.

What is TPTB's endgame?

They don't have an endgame. They have no goals except to increase their money and power in the moment.

A bad combination.
