Youtube silencing antiwar dissent

I don't agree with Ron Paul on a lot of issues, but when it comes to war we see eye-to-eye.
We both agree that wars should be avoided if at all possible, and that absolutely none of the wars we are currently engaged in can be justified.
So if Ron Paul can be silenced for his antiwar views, anyone can be, including progressives.
But was it for antiwar views? Yes.
Youtube spells it out clearly.
I've watched a couple Ron Paul videos, and the only one of those rules that applies is the last one about controversial "subjects related to war".
Given that Google’s assault on “fake news” has resulted in the blacklisting of anti-war and socialist websites, there can be little doubt as to the real target of such “extremist” censorship. Indeed, the results so far of Youtube’s AI dragnet give some indication of what is to come.
Chris Woods, the director of the organization Airwars, which documents the effects of international airstrikes, told the New York Times that YouTube removed around a dozen of its videos earlier this month and threatened to remove its YouTube channel entirely. Middle East Eye (MEE) reports that several of its own YouTube videos have likewise been removed. These include drone footage of fighting in Mosul, where Airwars documented the deaths of more than 5,000 civilians as a result of US-led attacks between February and June of this year.
Journalist Alexa O'Brien, who covered the 2013 court-martial of whistleblower Chelsea Manning, told MEE that videos used as evidence in that trial have also been removed. (Some of the above-listed videos have since been reinstated.)
BTW, conservatives think they are being singled out.
And here's an interesting tweet - before and then after.

I used to be an internet critic...
And left Youtube after they censored my first vid for using unapproved clips.
Youtube is quickly becoming the Corporate Friendly place that Google wants it to be. Anything they don't like will be quietly put aside. Of course, they will claim it is only the advertising that is blocked... but if that's blocked, then the video can't be worth much, so is assigned much lower... you get the idea.
It's a bit like the Roman Forum, with Bouncers who watch every entrant to decide if they get to speak, or are shuffled off to a quiet corner with the flagged "CONSPIRACY THEORY/FAKE NEWS" banner on the barricade... And all justified because it's "a private company".
Yep, time to abandon Youtube, if you haven't already. Almost all of my friend who are creators are quietly leaving, because Youtube has censored their LOUD videos which complained.
I do not pretend I know what I do not know.
Where do you suggest?
What's a good location for videos?
A lot of creators are going to
It's ugly, but at least they don't censor.
I do not pretend I know what I do not know.
Our own. Build our
own BlueTube. But, Libruls won't put their money where their mouth is.
Wouldn't take much. $10 /mo. x 1 million of us. Done.
Our own BlueTube with a bunch of blue "web tv" channels at $5 /mo.
We need to build our own blue media or we won't have a media.
BlueTube is a good start.

BitChute is a site gaining momentum
They are leading a charge against the YouTube-type of Internet censorship. My GenX daughter turned me on to the site.

They haven't removed this one,
although they've probably demonetized it.

We wanted decent healthcare, a living wage and free college.
The Democrats gave us Biden and war instead.
Yeah, you can see it, but I bet you had to look for it
Either go to their channel, and specifically sign in and look through the catalog...
OR use the direct link.
You won't find it on your youtube front page when you go there, or in any of the suggestions, or even if you've subscribed, you won't get notifications about them.
Essentially, it's a bit like how Google already censors C99. If you don't already know about it, you won't learn about it by searching. If you do know about it, you might not notice, because you can still get to it.
I do not pretend I know what I do not know.
All of Dore's vids show up in my YouTube feed.
He has complained about them being demonetized but the newest ones show up whenever I go to YouTube along with vids related whatever nonsense I've been watching lately.

Youtube has a blacklist now.
Most of their blacklist stuff does not show up when not logged in. That's just my experience of course, but I invite folks to try that out and see if you you get the same results.
I do not pretend I know what I do not know.
Are Sane Progressive's reports
still readily available? If not it would be good to have a C99er post links for her new videos.
Or links to SP on social media, which with no wireless are more difficult to access here.
Yeah, she shows up in my feed.
I'm still using Firefox and I'm using a desktop, not "devices".

@Azazello Jimmy Dore, Tim Black,
Do I hear the sound of guillotines being constructed?

@gulfgal98
There's a very clear purge happening, and it's designed to eliminate any non-compliant information. Only the establishment's message will be allowed, Google, Facebook and Twitter are working to ensure alternate viewpoints are silenced. Anti-war posts are against the rules, but MSM news reports gushing over the beauty of missiles being launched are allowed.
I found anti-war news on Al Jazeera and Real News Network
- some devastating images too. Is it because YouTube admin have not discovered them yet? One lives in hope.
To thine own self be true.
De-monitization is the first step

Naomi Klein and Democracy Now are on but guess they
don't seek monetization?
Good catch, thanks for the essay.
A truth of the nuclear age/climate change: we can no longer have endless war and survive on this planet. Oh sh*t.
Yeah, but don't worry...
You can still see plenty of 'feminism rekt lol', 4channers bitching about PizzaGhazi, world star hip hop, Sons of Kojima keeping DarksydePhil in business, and all the left-bashing you can stomach.
Modern education is little more than toeing the line for the capitalist pigs.

So they're cutting off the income
of people whose ideas they have deemed to be unacceptable. YouTube has come to be widely regarded as a kind of public utility, but clearly it is not that. It's more like a very useful, privately owned super-highway, that millions of people use freely, and that thousands of people have come to depend upon as a source of income. But it's a private highway, access to which has been suddenly and arbitrarily restricted. Or rather, a prohibitive tariff has been placed upon certain kinds of traffic. To "demonetize" a channel is to ban it from using the Youtube highway to gain any sort of income. Effectively, this could result in eliminating most of the smaller, targeted channels -- not only from Youtube, but altogether.
Let's say hypothetically that Amazon for example, were able to effectively drive all other booksellers out of business. And that Amazon were then to arbitrarily place a prohibitive tariff on certain books they deemed to be socially harmful. Would there be anything to prevent Amazon from doing this?

One of the new alternatives
to Youtube that have been popping up is BitChute, https://www.bitchute.com/ I suspect there will be others. I don't know to what degree they are able to be monetized.
