Afghanistan currently at war since 1978 The US "officially" joined in the fun in 2001, sssh no black ops ever, right? No dealings with Al Qaeda? No dealing with the Taliban, ever? No playing with the Northern Alliance when the Taliban proved difficult?
Democrats and Republican voted overwhelmingly in 2001 to invade the country on a mission purely driven by vengeance. I was called Un-American and a Traitor for daring to speak out. Recently I have been called a Russian stooge for speaking out against Warmongers.
If the Democrats speak out against the Presidents latest bloody plan then they are fucking hypocrites.

Since doing the same thing that has failed every time over and over and over again suddenly become a bloody winner.
The logic of America firsters, fuck that, just stop doing what doesn't work.
- Invading a sovereign country was fine when we did it.

- The suspension of human rights [notably habeas corpus] was fine when we did it.
- Torture was fine when we did it.

- Summary injustice with no trials by targetted murder is fine when we do it [drones]

I think it only appeared that Bannon was 'sane' with respect to Afghanistan. Valid reporting is that he wanted to privatize the war and hand it over to Eric Prince.
As for the effect on Trump - The media, GOP establishment and Democrats are falling over themselves talking about how to preserve an unwinnable war in Afghanistan, and by extension - his 'address' was 'presidential' now that he is deferring civilian leadership to 'his generals'. In other words, as we approach a fascist military dictatorship - according to those in power - things are looking GREAT. For the rest of us - we are truly fucked.
