Very nice series of photos. I really like the two cloud shots.
Here are some Meerkat shots I took a few weeks ago

(or enjoyed) your visit stateside with Family.

Here's a photo of a 'green space' at my old University in Cholulu (Puebla, Mexico). Most of the original buildings remain, and, amazingly, look as good as they did when the new campus opened. In some photos of the campus, you can see twin volcanoes in the background.

Thought I'd take a break from posting dog pics. Wink

@Unabashed Liberal

I haven't been around here much, so it's especially nice to see you again tonight. I've been looking at photos of the location of your university. How wonderful it must have been to live and study in such an outstanding place.

I'm still in Florida for a few more weeks.

Sending you warm wishes.

I must admit I am feeling both sad about leaving and pleasantly anticipating the serenity and comfort of home.

See you around ; ).

I will have to take a look now myself at more pictures of your university. Really lovely. I see you in the threads from time to time. (That is not like being in the weeds, thankfully.) Smile I have been organizing my heart out. There is so much to do. We are working on the insane commodification of housing in our area now. A friend of my best friend's granddaughter is living in a 300 sq ft apartment with her child, works two jobs and pays 1K per month. Can you say oligarchy. This is the norm here. (edit the word friend)

especially, since I haven't run into you, lately. I've always enjoyed your work and perspective.

Pleasantry

Best of luck to you organizing to help the young woman with a difficult and unfair housing situation, fight back. "Good on you"--as Thom Hartmann would say.

As an aside, we always loved traveling through British Columbia, etc., during the years we lived in Interior Alaska. Another place we liked, and thought was very pretty, was Lethbridge, Alberta.

You Guys may see more photos of Puebla and Cholulu from time to time, unless we nix the idea of returning to the region. For now, though, I'm still checking out (today's) safety factors.

Have a great week!

Thank you for the very beautiful music and imagery. I hope you are well and your mother's care has become a little less challenging for all.

no matter, no need to be redundant, the music is the same, different vid. It is good to see you, as always.
Mom, the financing, the extended family not understanding, all taking its toll; many here have or are enduring similar circumstances, we all do, i suppose; cheers for caring.

Drop in tomorrow if you can.

Daenerys's picture

I had some really nice shots of thunderclouds; if I ever find them I'd have to scan them.
Here are my offerings this week:

Forster's terns

Last Saturday we went up to Silver Lake in Big Cottonwood Canyon and hiked between there and Lake Solitude. I got three more lifers!
Western tanager, which I was super excited about! But this is the best I could do.

Western wood-pewee:

The third lifer, which I actually saw first was a Steller's Jay, but I couldn't get a photo of it on account of it kept moving and people were being noisy and wouldn't stop so I could get a photo. Rude!! But that and the Western tanager were two I was really hoping to see before we leave Utah so I was happy!

White-crowned sparrow, which I probably should've cropped:

Dark-eyed junco

Loved watching the chipmunks run around!

Holy lens flares!

This one isn't mine, but another one I saw on FB that made me laugh!

so I always look forward to your work.

Hey, definitely got a chuckle out of the FB (last) bird photo. That's about how things have been going for me, lately!

isn't it, Danni? The only time I've been able to go up big or little cottonwood canyons was to go skiing. We only went there a few times because Snowbasin is so close.
And I can go hiking in areas like that in less than 15 minutes.

Will you have this type of scenery where you are going to be living? I don't know much about the landscape where you are moving to, but hopefully you will take some photos of it and post them here.

There were problems with running a campaign of Joy while committing a genocide? Who could have guessed?

@snoopydawg The northern half of the state has beautiful forests though. There's a place northwest of Duluth called the Sax-Zim bog that I'd like to go to some time to look for Great Gray owls and hawk owls. The photos I've seen of it look awesome. There are also lakes and ponds everywhere; MN is called the land of 10,000 lakes. Eric likes to joke that he'll be confused not having any mountains around. Lol

@Daenerys
Always love your pictures of birds. We have lots of Stellars here. This year two Red Shouldered Hawks raised two babies in the grove behind us. One day I heard a loud bird noise outside in the eucalyptus trees and then I saw a Peregrine Falcon eating one of the Hawk parents. The next day another family of Hawks with two babies moved in and the three parents raised the four baby hawks together. There are only ~500 pairs of Peregrines in the US now (up from something like four). And one of them lives here. All amazing to witness.

Cool pictures of the clouds. There is something about them when they are being lit by the sun.
The photos of the critters and birds are great as well.

I haven't had time to take any new ones, so I'll share this one that won 1st place in the National Geographic photo contest for travel scenario this year.

@magiamma

of your dear 'Miley.'

I'm sorry--I didn't see your comments until this evening. (Sunday)

A lovely quote by a Nobel laureate in literature, Anatole France, comes to mind,

Anatole France Quote, magiamma.png
Brainy Quote

But, of course, you know that.

All I can say is that I'm sure that Miley was very much comforted that you loved him so dearly, and that you were able to share so much time with him in your lovely garden, as his last days drew near.

Strength and peace to you.
