Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity Have Endorsed Forensic Analyses of Adam Carter and Forensicator re Guccifer 2.0

As I outlined in a previous post (https://caucus99percent.com/content/what%E2%80%99s-left-russiagate-%E2%8...), forensic analyses of the DNC material posted by "Guccifer 2.0", conducted by Adam Carter and an anonymous entity calling itself "the Forensicator", have indicated that "Guccifer 2.0" downloaded his subsequently leaked material via USB drive or local connection to the DNC computers, on the East Coast - contrary to the assertions of our intelligence community that Guccifer 2.0 was a Russian hacker. This download occurred after Wikileaks had announced that it would be releasing DNC material pertinent to the Clinton campaign and, curiously, just 5 days before Seth Rich was murdered by hitmen.

Furthermore, before being placed online, the metadata of the Guccifer 2.0 leak was intentionally altered to add "Russian fingerprints" that would suggest to naive analysts that the material had been hacked by Russians. Following the Wikileaks release of DNC material, "Guccifer 2.0" claimed to have provided that material to Wikileaks. The material released by "Guccifer 2.0" is notable for being anodyne - unlike the Wikileaks release, it did little to impugn the DNC.

These findings suggest that "Russiagate" was a consciously constructed hoax, by someone likely affiliated with the DNC (as he had local access to the DNC computers), the intent of which was to falsely implicate Russians as hackers of the DNC, and to imply that Wikileaks had obtained its DNC material from Russian hackers. This cast aspersions on Wikileaks, distracted from the damaging content of the leaked emails, and provided the Deep State with another narrative which they could use to demonize Russia.

The credibility of these bombshell conclusions evidently rests on the accuracy of the forensic analyses by Adam Carter and Forensicator. It is therefore of momentous importance that Veteran Intelligence Professionals for Sanity, a distinguished consortium of retired intelligence professionals (including notably Ray McGovern and NSA co-founder William Binney) that has no political ax to grind, has vetted these forensic analyses and finds them to be sound:

https://consortiumnews.com/2017/07/24/intel-vets-challenge-russia-hack-e...

"Forensic studies of “Russian hacking” into Democratic National Committee computers last year reveal that on July 5, 2016, data was leaked (not hacked) by a person with physical access to DNC computers, and then doctored to incriminate Russia."

----------

"Independent analyst Skip Folden, a retired IBM Program Manager for Information Technology US, who examined the recent forensic findings, is a co-author of this Memorandum. He has drafted a more detailed technical report titled “Cyber-Forensic Investigation of ‘Russian Hack’ and Missing Intelligence Community Disclaimers,” and sent it to the offices of the Special Counsel and the Attorney General. VIPS member William Binney, a former Technical Director at the National Security Agency, and other senior NSA “alumni” in VIPS attest to the professionalism of the independent forensic findings."

(I have amended my own Russiagate essay to add this key citation.)

How long will it be before MSM outlets even deign to acknowledge the existence of this new compelling evidence? Our MSM have raised "lying by omission" to an art form.

With respect to the identity of "Guccifer 2.0", Adam Carter indicates that he suspects members of Crowdstrike, the private cybersecurity firm which the DNC retained to evaluate the "hacking" of its servers. Carter also indicates that he hopes to provide proof of this in coming weeks. Notably, Crowdstrike - whose founders have strong animus toward the Russian government - is the only group that has been allowed to analyze the DNC servers, as the DNC rather suspiciously refused to allow their servers to be examined by the FBI, even after multiple requests. Hence, our intelligence community is relying soley on the reports of Crowdstrike in concluding that hackers affiliated with the Russian government hacked the DNC servers. Crowdstrike is clearly in an ideal position to foment the Russiagate narrative.

In any case, whether or not Crowdstrike concocted the Guccifer 2.0 persona, it is now clear that people close to the DNC attempted to hoax our intelligence community on Russiagate - a hoax which the Deep State very likely was eager to fall for. Bear in mind that the widely touted Intelligence Community Assessment implicating Russia in election meddling was not a formal National Intelligence Estimate collating input from a wide range of intelligence agencies and experts (and noting dissents), but rather an ad hoc report concocted by intelligence professionals hand-picked from 3 agencies by the Russophobes Brennan and Clapper. There is every reason to believe that such a report would be highly politicized. Also recall that, in the run-up to the Iraq invasion, our intelligence agencies proved themselves to be remarkably credulous in accepting the bogus reports of Iraqi defectors recruited by Ahmed Chalabi.

For evidence rebutting additional claims regarding Russian interference in our election, please see my previous essay.

that loudly protested the intel on Iraq's WMD was fake. I believe them far more than I do the so-called assessments of the current CIA, DNI and FBI.

But will this even get mentioned in a trad corp. media outlet? Only to mock it as CT, if that.

…the entire Russian false flag. The official narrative has the DNC consulting CrowdStrike about the server "hack" starting April 29th. It shows CrowdStrike running a test on the DNC server on May 6th, when they say they discovered active "hacking". However, my sources show them at DNC headquarters during the entire month of April. They were believed to be engaged in finding proof that the DNC server was hacked by Bernie Sanders' staffers — attempting to get ahead of a lawsuit being filed against them. The DNC wrote CrowdStrike a check for $168,000 in late April. They were also on retainer to the FBI for $150,000 at the time. The founder of CrowdStrike, being a rabidly anti-Russian Ukraine immigrant, would periodically plant dire warnings about Russian cyber attacks, which he is invariably forced to retract. So it comes as no surprise that CrowdStrike reported a Ukrainian cyber attack implicating Russia, on the same day they filed the first hacking announcement about the DNC — in mid June 2016. CrowdStrike was forced to publicly retract the Ukrainian report in March 2017. It is not known why CrowdStrike delayed a month (without cutting off the alleged hackers) before filing a notice of the DNC intrusion. Oddly, some of the most damaging emails were written and saved on the contaminated server during the month of May, and later lifted and leaked.

The two months CrowdStrike was at the DNC happens to coincide with the last two months of Seth Rich's life. This computer stored their voter database, over which Rich was the director, both as an IT specialist and as the prime user of the content for his Voter Outreach project. He was writing an app that would assist voters on election day, providing them with a news feed about their local reps and races, offering social networking with other voters, helping them shoot out voting reminders to friends and family, updating the waiting time and conditions at their voting precinct, using GPS to speed them to their voting place, and surveying them after they voted. These voting records are the files that Bernie's staffers were suspected of stealing, so one might assume there was significant overlap between Seth Rich and CrowdStrike.

CrowdStrike founder, Dmitri Alperovitch, is an active member of the Atlantic Council, the anti-Russian think tank funded by George Soros and staffed with Neocons like Susan Rice. They were all about overthrowing the democratically elected Ukrainian government to provoke Russia, and were all about Hillary Clinton being elected president. That's the connection between CrowdStrike and the DNC.

There are a dozen reasons why the Russian election interference is fabricated nonsense, This is just one of them.

@Pluto's Republic Surely you jest!

CrowdStrike was also on retainer to the FBI for $150,000 at the time.

Why this is no more a conflict of interest than, say, Mueller investigating Comey.

(for those who need to be advised, this is snark. Please check back with the MSM before proceeding).

@Alligator Ed

…has been a real boost for CrowdStrike. They hang with the beautiful people, now.

March 17, 2017

It’s not a bad time for a security specialist to be raising money.

CrowdStrike, the provider of digital security that aided the D.N.C. in its response to what is believed to be interference by Russia, announced on Wednesday that it had raised $100 million in capital.

The new money values the company at close to $1 billion, not including the investment itself, and brings its total fund-raising to $256 million.

It is the latest indication that investors remain intensely interested in online security [and] businesses faced an increasing number of threats.

That has meant more work for CrowdStrike, says George Kurtz, the chief executive and co-founder of CrowdStrike

The new round of money comes as the six-year-old company undergoes rapid growth. CrowdStrike said subscriptions had grown 476 percent in the last year. It says more than 10 percent of the Fortune 1,000 are customers.

Much of that growth, Mr. Kurtz said, came from word of mouth as customers praised the company’s offerings. But the company’s role in helping the D.N.C. “certainly raised our profile and awareness,” he said.

Mr. Kurtz said that CrowdStrike had already raised $100 million in the summer of 2015. But even though it did not need the additional capital, it began seeking new funds about three months ago, he said.

"From the information available, we conclude that the same inside-DNC, copy/leak process was used at two different times, by two different entities, for two distinctly different purposes:

-(1) an inside leak to WikiLeaks before Julian Assange announced on June 12, 2016, that he had DNC documents and planned to publish them (which he did on July 22) – the presumed objective being to expose strong DNC bias toward the Clinton candidacy; and

-(2) a separate leak on July 5, 2016, to pre-emptively taint anything WikiLeaks might later publish by “showing” it came from a “Russian hack.”

My guesses: The inside leak (1) was probably Seth Rich. The doctored, fake leak (2) was probably Crowdstrike, perhaps in collusion with the Clinton campaign.

@Roy Blakeley

All while I was reading, I kept asking why crowdstrike would do leak #1. Hillary was much more likely to attack Russia than Trump. If Seth was #1 and Crowdstrike #2, it would answer that.

@Roy Blakeley That's my conclusion as well.

Some commentators are screwing up their reports on the Adam Carter/Forensicator revelations by conflating the Guccifer 2.0 breach with the leaks that provided the Wikileaks DNC emails. It's great that VIPS is taking pains to clarify the situation.

The fact that Guccifer 2.0 is not Russian does not necessarily imply that the Wikileaks releases weren't provided by Russian hackers. But of course we believe that the Wikileaks releases were leaks because Craig Murray says so, and Assange insists that the Russian govt is not his source. And it's clear that Assange believes that Seth either is, or could be, his source.

The Atlantic Council had this to say in 2015:

http://www.atlanticcouncil.org/news/press-releases/bright-and-hadley-to-...

JUNE 02, 2015
Albright and Hadley to Lead Atlantic Council Task Force on US Strategy for the Middle East

Former US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright and former US National Security Advisor Stephen Hadley announced today the launch of the Middle East Strategy Task Force (MEST). The Task Force is a bipartisan Atlantic Council initiative to try to better understand the underlying dynamics behind the current crises in the Middle East and develop a long-term framework for US policy in the region. To accomplish this, the Task Force emphasizes collaboration with international partners and experts—especially those in the Middle East.

The Task Force will culminate in a report by the Co-Chairs in late 2015, proposing a pragmatic and actionable Middle East foreign policy roadmap, which can guide the United States and its partners and can inform the foreign policy debate for the US presidential election in 2016.

Co-Chairs Albright and Hadley are leading the Task Force, and working with a high-level group of Senior Advisers from the United States, Europe, and the Middle East. The Co-Chairs have invited eminent specialists on the Middle East to convene working groups consisting of both regional stakeholders and international experts to address some of the region’s most persistent challenges. The working groups and Conveners include:

  • Security and Public Order

Kenneth M. Pollack, Brookings Institution

  • Religion, Identity, and Countering Violent Extremism

Geneive Abdo, Stimson Center

  • Refugees, Recovery, and Reconciliation

Manal Omar, United States Institute of Peace

  • Politics, Governance, and State-Society Relations

Tamara Cofman Wittes, Brookings Institution

  • Economic Recovery and Revitalization

Christopher M. Schroeder, Entrepreneur and Author, Startup Rising

“Given the scale and complexity of the crises afflicting the Middle East today, now is exactly the right time to bring together this distinguished group of regional experts, foreign policy practitioners, and civil society organizations,” said Albright. “By identifying the root causes of the region’s problems, it is my hope that this task force will guide the United States and the international community in developing a longer-term strategy to help the people of the Middle East achieve stability and prosperity.”

“The issues facing the Middle East, and the US approach to it more broadly, are a matter far beyond partisan politics,” said Hadley. “This is a time when we need to be bringing people from both sides of the aisle into the circle.”

“There is great need to reinvigorate US leadership in the world, and especially in the Middle East,” said Atlantic Council Chairman Jon M. Huntsman, Jr., “and this Atlantic Council task force will help enrich the debate on US foreign policy in the Middle East as the next presidential election approaches.

An important part of the Task Force’s mandate is to inform discussion among the public at large through a series of public events, the first of which the Co-Chairs will host in Washington, DC on Thursday, June 4, 2015. They will examine public attitudes in the region, and feature polling data presented by Jim Zogby of Zogby Research Associates and Gallup’s Mohamed Younis.

The MEST is a project of the Atlantic Council’s Rafik Hariri Center for the Middle East in cooperation with the Strategy Initiative of the Brent Scowcroft Center on International Security.

Sounds remarkably like sense to me. If some of you guys were making policy, our survival chances would skyrocket. and that someone followed in his/her footsteps and made another download, one which had "Russian" fingerprints. That was the first analysis I heard, because people were wondering why there had been two downloads. The idea was that the second download was because they realized they had been hacked, and wanted to poison the well/sow doubt.

But the person I read thought the original Guccifer 2.0 "hack" was a genuine leak and not a created persona.

Changed my mind after reading all the comments here. I think it makes more sense that the first leak was Rich's and what followed was the Clinton machine or their Deep State allies putting out fires.
