OT WE 27 NOV 24 ~ sandpaper
In the woodwork finishing art, there is a known a basic formulaic system of
beginning with rough approaches and stepping down to finer finishing materials.
Progressing from a rough surface to a smooth finish. Applying this to the human
or philosophic condition is a small leap of logic.
There are abrasive people that try to get their way by aggressive means. Think
the PMC, political and military characters.
Others have a much smoother approach to life. Artists, musicians and normal folk.
Imaginary thinkers, writers and poets. Being of a finesse sort perhaps
precludes radical change. Transformations will occur regardless.
Going against the grain gains little. Depending on the finish one wants to achieve.
The sands of time and the winds of change can abrade even the roughest rocks.
All other things aside, this is an open thread.
Use whatever rasp you have on hand.

Good morning...
Got the turkey in the oven to take to B'ham tomorrow. I normally smoke turkey, but my family prefers oven roasted...so it is in the oven.
For a smooth finish it takes coarse, medium and fine grit, and as you speculate perhaps with people too.
At last some good news out of the ME...
Israel-Hezbollah truce takes effect
The US-brokered ceasefire was announced on Tuesday following tense negotiations
...
Hezbollah said at the time that it would not end the hostilities until Israel stops the war with Hamas in Gaza.
Thanks for the OT. Hope everyone has a good day!

That is good news if the truce holds
Lined the roasting pan with carrots, onion celery and garlic.
After 2 days of marinating the spatchcocked bird, tom is in the oven.
Good luck with your trip to B'ham. And thanks for coming by!

Dems reaching out to heal their base
Yeah that ought to work.
True
Was Humpty Dumpty pushed?
Hey, chica!
Well, that is an apt description of today's Dem party. I want to throw something at the computer screen when I hear tropes about how poor people are lazy. How they demand high wages and get upset because an immigrant will take the job at low wages. A corporation can't be blamed for holding their margin of profit based upon labor costs, which is proof poor people are stupid and have nobody to blame but themselves! Let the illegals in! They came here to work. (What's a few Cartel gangs in the neighborhood such a big damn deal, stupid!) Even Democrats are open to eliminating or greatly diminishing food stamps and Medicaid.
I do not expect to have Medicare or Social Security much longer, either. The Uniparty's wet dream.

Was aghast on what the 'puter was coughing up early this AM.
Had to C-clean it, re-boot and all that other weird stuff. Helped a bit.
Doing the taters and rice, turkey is roasting away.
Thanks for showing up! Just for fun ..

Good morning, QMS!
We are in The Hill Country, finally being treated to some fall foliage. Headed to a Dale Watson concert tonight at Luckenbach. There is no a/c or heat in the dance hall. We got lucky. It will not be very cold tonight.
His fun crowd pleaser:
Last year, a woman, probably in her 60s, was first in line to get in the door. She looked like she had just come from the ranch, fringe leather jacket, sparkly cowboy boots, and it was only when she spoke that you realized she was from London. She could do the Texas Two-Step. I wonder if she will come tonight? I might inquire about the restrictions on home heating in England, just out of curiosity.
About that treaty, seems the US and Israel determine if it is breached and the proper retaliation in response. I think of the treaty as more of the same, but hope to be wrong.
Thanks for the OT, dear friend!

Obama….
He got the message that voters had rejected everything he stood for when democrats lost seats in congress and governorships across the country.
Then after he abhorrent terms democrats thought that the country would accept
Obama 2.0the Hellabitch, but instead they went with Trump. That’s Obama’s legacy forever.Don’t forget that Powell admitted that he was raising interest rates to keep wages from rising and he ended up crashing the housing market. Did any dem speak out about it?
And if the uniparty actually wants to help American workers they would start arresting CEOs who hire undocumented immigrants…but of course they would never do that.

Wow!
Hey, this is fun!
I’m commenting from inside a hyperbaric chamber, during my ride. It’s not a real chamber like I’ve been in before- I wouldn’t have been able to bring my phone, and there’s no way signal would make it out through the steel hull.
This chamber is a light duty double layer neoprene bag, big enough for a comfy chair and yours truly. The bag has a double-seal zipper, not a hatch… They are diving me to only ~40 feet of sea water equivalent, or basically 2 atm absolute- but the higher pressure forces more O2 into the blood. I’m breathing air enriched to 35% O2, not pure O2 like in a real chamber, but it certainly can’t hurt.
At 1.5 atm on the descent, i’m already seeing some stars in the blind area, so it would appear that it might be helping a bit- maybe it isn’t too late to help fix the damage.
If it continues to improve, I’ll go find a place that will pop me into a real tank and do a real Navy Treatment Table 6 dive, which I‘ve had before. That is to 60m (192fsw/7atm) switching between chamber air and pure O2 via mask, with the occasional seizure from O2 toxicity (self correcting, since you can’t help but automatically drop the mask). (;-)
Now, that is a real chamber ride, Still, this ain’t too shabby for retail medicine in a landlocked state! More after they surface me. Gonna take a nap.

Hey there ufs, I hope the oxygen dives help.
Mon mari and i both had Tick borne diseases (aka Lyme) and eventually ended up in steel chambers in Chico, California. We dove to 1.5 ata with 95% oxygen. Very careful of sparks even not allowed to wear synthetic fabric. One downside was that an eight seat chamber was ok as long as we all had about the same tolerance to the descent. Ear drums were often a problem, requiring some to have the drum scored so pressure wouldn't build inside.
We ended up with our own chamber, oxygen concentrator and compresssor. It really does help many conditions and healing. We had the benefit of controlling our own dive speed and length of stay. A remarkable device for sick people.
Best of luck to you. We too have lost our home and health over a short period, but we endeavor to perservere and step by step have been on the recovery road. Happy Thanksgiving.

There are now
several places around the Denver area with proper chambers, and my new primary care physician is very receptive to "alternative" techniques. Well, as you know, there's nothing at all "alternative" or off-label about HBO used for soft tissue, neuro, and burn injuries, let alone DCS. So I should be able to make a non-Navy connection or two here. The Table 6 is essentially standard across all the dive medicine people, and I'd imagine that it would be known to the other specialties as well. The Navy did pretty much write the book on the subject...
The chamber at the Kuakini Medical Center on Oahu was downright amazing. Truly, Hawaii was a great place to get bent, if you are just determined to do it for some reason. At the time 20+ years ago, Dr. Robert Overlock at Kuakini was basically the dean of dive medicine worldwide, and I was lucky to be seen by him, and have one of his close associates run the chamber for my rides. At the time, that chamber seated 20 in one sub-hull, had 4 hospital beds in another, and a complete anteroom/separate lockout system for the dive nurses. Those are some cool characters... Completely relieved my symptoms, so I've directly experienced it working.
Pro tip I just learned: never select doctors near your own age. In the last 6 months, my PCP, cardiologist, acupuncturist, and opthalmologist have all friggin' gone and retired on me. And Doc Overlock passed in 2016. And wouldn't you know, now I need 'em, and I have to go find new ones. Only my knee guy remains, but he looks like a 35-year-old Matthew McConaghey- I picked a baby. My wife liked him, anyway... (;-)

Can relate with the retiring Docs
I had a doc retire on me, and his son took over the practice. A few years later he retired also.
I feel OLD!
Damn.
By now you are probably out of the chamber/bubble. Hope you're seeing more better.
Know that I just finished with your recipe for cranberry sauce. You were right on, it's delicious. Cooling in the fridge now.
Will let you know how it goes down tomorrow at dinner (earthling2 is already a convert).
Get well soon and have a happy Thanksgiving.

Awesome.
There’s no better recipe to astonish the cranberry hater. We make a quadruple batch, freeze it in little delis, and that’ll last us to the 4th of July, when we’ll do a midsummer single batch to coast through to the holidays. It is great on ice cream in the dead of summer…

Got to spend a chunk of the day so far trying to deal with some electronics having cartoon based interfaces and "manuals". Bah! To adjust ;-(, ! => @=> and press ok. Say waht?

that Lindsay has been involved in Ukraine long before the Obama coup and the US/CIA has been there since the coup and yet they weren’t interested in taking those minerals out before now. Curious.
Ukraine governments have been selling off the country for years and I sure hope the people know about it so they can confiscate Zelensky's billions before he skeedaddles off to one of his many mansions.
