and scheduled to go to 95. My wife just brought in a handful of green beans, our first veggie harvest of the year. There are more, but we often work on a pick as needed basis since they are just outside the back door.

Even then petty "crime" was a source of revenue extraction from the ? 90%? The Puritans did a job on us, continuing until today. Other than a human trait, I think Puritan thought made some mean.

Spending the day trapping squirrels.
Rotten little rodents. They have chewed off my corn starts at ground level. Have only five left out of twelve. They were a foot tall, and they just left them lay. Same with the broccoli, three chewed off right at the ground. They're also digging up my seedlings just comming up.
The worst part though is chewing through my gas line on my motorhome. Of course, I didn't know until we were packed and ready to leave on vacation.
Had to rush around and get new hose and drain tank to change it.
This is the third vehicle in ten years they have chewed through a gas line. Each time I have to trap a dozen or two and relocate them to someplace they will do more good. Down by the river, next to the ritzy neighborhood of McMansions.
Neither Russia nor China is our enemy.
