I hope more of "the disappeared" show up here to add to what is already a critical mass of troublemakers!
My mind is dancing right now contemplating all the things that can be discussed here that were bannable at Kos's Animal Farm--and with people that I've enjoyed reading and engaging with for years.

this site is an outgrowth of a community of people who were looking for a place to be long before the current wave brought you to us.
we have been through a number of platforms and then jtc kindly developed this site as a home for us. he has put an amazing amount of work into developing this and keeping it running and deserves all the "atta boys" that a community can muster.
As you might guess from my name, I won't be saying much over here, either. But I think hanging out over here will be better for my BP. Thanks for the lovely space!
No problem. I mostly lurk as well (though I should speak up, dammit). My impetus to comment mostly comes when there's some nonsense to push back on, and the folks over here are less prone to nonsense than the ones at dK where I've been noisier, but we don't need an echo chamber, either. There's lots to do. Some of that is opening ourselves more, and some of it is getting more pro-active outside this space. I'm hoping the expansion of this site makes both things develop simultaneously and quickly.

Sorry we overloaded you guys, but a homecoming is worth that. We'll all find room to sit, or congregate around the libations.
I miss our forays in greenspace -- do you think there'd be an interest in reprising those sometime? I know you'll be busy now with the expansion hereabouts, and I'll be away for a couple of weeks anyway, but maybe sometime sooner than later would be possible? Whatever works. . . .
in a couple of weeks things should be starting to pop up all over at longwood. i'm generally up for a weekend day trip most weekends for the next month.

Glad to have new homes. I never expected to be bannable for saying I would vote for Sanders in November. I have read and posted drastically less over yonder since DK 5, but yesterday was the purge in earnest. I have gone back only to rec Sanders supporters. I will not give that site views, clicks, or words beyond supports for my candidate. And I have been there through three Presidential primaries.

I mean how many loonie RW'ers go around agitating /talking about Goldman Sachs Golden Handcuffs, bad mouthing Goldwater, ending the endless war on terra, regulating the freaking bankster's and too big's and getting some decent affordable healthcare? He's got it as ass backwards as a teabagger. What he means is no 'rotten, patriotic Dr. Commie Rat' left wing factual talking points. He wouldn't know a real issue if it bit him, which it finally has.
I signed up for an account here several months back but never got out of lurker mode. Yesterday's events gave me a much needed kick in the rear.

First and foremost, please make yourself at home. You do not have to like Hillary. You can advocate for a third party or anarchy if that's your bent. You are free to speak your mind and to be responded to with respect. There are no flags, no NRs, no TOs, and no corners to be sat in. You will be treated like an adult.
The routine is really casual. There is a morning open thread where everyone gathers with coffee. It publishes 7 days a week between 7 - 9 am and diarists take turns. If you want to volunteer for a slot to write an OT, let Johnny (admin) know
Evening Blues publishes here M-F somewhere around 4 pm. Its traffic is usually heaviest after 8 pm.
JayRaye publishes her series here daily and Robyn does too. GJohnsit publishes often and whenever the mood strikes him. Others publish essays (diaries) or not as the mood strikes them.
There are no fees and no ads. This site belongs to the users. Johnny volunteered all of the time needed to build us this great place. He also maintains it on a volunteer basis. We do take up a collection when it is time to chip in for licenses, more bandwidth, etc.
This site was built in anticipation of Kos's STFU or GTFO edict. It was a lifeboat, a refuge, from the immaturity, ugliness, and censorship that is dailykos.
