How the Democratic Party's life could be saved: A Rant.

AN OPEN DIARY FOR THE GOOD DEMOCRATS OVER AT THE OTHER PLACE.

OF RECENT DAYS,, those reading over at the Daily Kos blog have been regaled with some damn strange brews. Love for George Bush? Wow!! Now, I'm as concerned with the spectre of a GOPper Trump government as well as any other; but a Diary asking a blogsite devoted to electing Democrats to stop lauding an obviously conservative Republican ex-President? Especially when that obviously conservative Republican ex-President performed a laudable service to our common country by telling the truth?

It is obvious that some folks at Daily Kos need to be reminded of some serious realities, and fast.

FIRST: If the Democratic Party ever wants to wield any real power in government again, it's going to have to face this fact: "Democrat" needs to mean what it meant in continuously loyal States in the 1970s, and that only. That stance -- reliably pro-labor, especially organized labor, first, foremost and forever; reliable help for those who cannot help themselves; a strong, robust public sector; regulation on the wealthy and powerful to insure a level playing field for all; the things that constituted a genuinely liberal political orientation then and still does today. In addition, certain modern additions are needed: a genuine, heart-and-hand commitment to battle human-caused climate damage; a similar commitment to extracting our politics from the clutches of millionaires and billionaires and their never-ending quest to buy all the nation's powers for their exclusive benefit (money out of politics); a full commitment to public-run single-payer healthcare; a strong stance in favor of small family farms rather than Monsatan and mega-agribusiness; and a permanent shift to a PEACE footing by switching to a non-interventionistic foreign policy. And once these ideas become the permanent bedrock of the Democratic Party, that Party must embark on a "full court press" 50-State crusade to sell those ideas and the people who champion them to every American everywhere.

NEXT: The Democrats must face the fact that no DLC/Third Way/Clinton/Clintonite politician, or anyone who has ever run for public office as such, can ever be trusted to meet the requirements I laid out in the last paragraph. All these "centrists" (actually conservatives) need to be given The Boot in their fat asses, sending them all in the general direction of the GOP where they wish they were, and belong. (George Soros, this means YOU.) The Democratic Party does not need a Goldwater Girl representing it for the office of Dogcatcher much less Senator, Congressmember, or President. And make no mistake: Hillary Clinton is still as much a Goldwater Girl now as she ever has been! In addition, the bullshit identity politics need to be put where they belong -- in the ash heap of history. If you're a person of color, female, poor, LGBTQ, or what have you, your ONLY hope of ever receiving your just rights is to join your cause in solidarity with the cause of the ordinary working class stiffs who are losing everything right now at the inept hands of Hillary Clinton, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Tom Perez, Nancy Pelosi, and the rest of the current Democratic Party. United we win; divided, we DIE. And united with the Third Way, we DIE.

Once reminded of these realities, and forced to face them as the facts they are, the Democratic Party might just have a chance at survival.

The chances of any such thing ever happening are small, however, which is why so many honest Americans have DemExited -- your humble scribe included -- and why so many of those same honest Americans have declared the Democratic Party moribund, which as things now stand, it is.

SO, THE QUESTION IS THIS: Will the Democrats do what needs to be done, cast off the depleted-uranium yoke of the Third Way and the House of Clinton, return to the New Deal with a vengeance, and thrive? Or will they continue to act as the second Republican Party, and doom themselves to complete and total oblivion?

I assure you, dear reader: there are no other choices available!

If the Democratic Party · · · champion them to every American everywhere.

is to state reality. To think anyone could possibly disagree with any of this is ridicules. Yet there are such people.

forced to face them

I am arriving at the conclusion that it is impossible for the dyed-in-the-wool democrats to accept reality and deal with it honestly.

They aren't going to nor do they want to change anything about how they are going to go forward after losing their base and losing to Donald F'cking Trump of all people.
They don't care if they get to be the majority party again.
Pelosi showed hers and their true colors after the 2006 midterm elections when after running on rolling back the Bush abuses if we put them in the majority again.
I don't need to remind anyone what she said after she became the majority leader.
I wrote this comment in tonight's EBs.

A ham sandwich could have beaten Donald Trump, but the Democrats ran the one candidate who could lose to him. And they didn’t just run this candidate. They rigged the whole nomination process to get this candidate. They have lost the Presidency and the Congress. They have lost at both the national and state levels. And their response? As always, more of the same. Rather than cleaning house of the deadwood, they have put the deadwood, Schumer, Pelosi, and now Perez, at their head. They won’t organize and they won’t back programs popular with voters. Much like Hillary Clinton, their whole game plan appears to be that they are not Trump. And we know how well that worked out in the election. You can not beat something with nothing.

I see people write comments that says they haven't learned their lesson after Hillary lost to Trump. They know damn well what they need to do to win back both houses and the presidency, but they are not going to do it. If they were going to change anything they would have changed after the 2010 midterm election when they lost the house. Instead of firing DWS for that disaster, Obama let her keep her job so that she could screw millions of people and Bernie from winning the election and letting the republicans take the house so that they could block his legislation that he proposed only after he knew that republicans would block it.

The democrats had the majority for almost two years after Obama won the presidency and did absolutely squat.
He continued PNAC's goals in the Middle East and destroyed Libya and Syria, both on false pretenses and watched ISIS gain more power because he thought that they would help with Assad being removed from office, and he armed and funded f'cking Al Qaida for the same reason. And not many democrat spoke out against his actions.

He's helped Saudi Arabia destroy Yemen and doesn't care that hundreds of thousands of people are dying from starvation. He refueled their jets to drop the bombs on them after he sold them to him as well over $135 million in weapons.
And again not very many democrats spoke out against this.

And speaking of the members of DK, they are not only saying nice things about Bush, many of them are defending his actions on the destruction of Yemen because Trump screwed up so badly on the mission that got a soldier and 30 civilians killed . And what they are upset about is that the Yemen government won't let the USA put any new troops into the country now and the terrorists are going to be free to plan attacks on this country.
There was a time when that site knew that the war on terror was bullshit.

So that's my rant about why the democrats aren't going to change anything about how they are going to govern.

This sums up what DK has morphed into

foregive me for it, but here is why:
imo, fighting the neo-liberal Democrats and how they betrayed everybody is "yesterday's fight" and no fight will change that past. Whereas the fight that is needed to fight against today IS the fight against the current people in political power and that are the trumpistas. They make racism and authoritarian fascism fashionable and doable right now without any shame, publicly and big-mouthedly. And I would assume in years from now people will ask themselves: why didn't we fight those more effectively and wasted our time to fight "yesterday's wars". We missed to win the old battles on time, because we were lulled into "smooth weasel words" by our own internal demons and enemies.

That does not mean I support the idea to have to unite with the neo-liberal Democrats in order to fight the trumpistas. I do believe that this is not what has to be done. you can fight on your own without any affiliation to what are currently the Democrats.

I always hate it when some smart psychologists throw around the accusation and categorization of Stockholme Syndrome against women who they believe to have 'stood by their jerk husband' for too long. I am reminded of that, when watching former TOP writers struggling for how long they have or have not, they could or could not, or can or can not 'stand by their former jerk blog site'.

I think it's time to realize that we all make 'mistakes' in judgements and that there is nothing to be truely and prolongedly ashamed about, because people change their opinions constantly, justifiably (or not), and humanely (or not). But they all do and it comes with the territory of having a brain and a heart that can't be controlled easily from thinking and feeling what they feel and think.

It's like the story of a Nazi/Racism 'victim of guilt'. Grandpa supported the Nazis/Racists, before he himself and his son and his grandson became a Nazi/Racist 'victim of guilt' themselves. There is very little you can do about those constellations in hind sight.

I happen to know a grandkid of a case like that, who couldn't deal with it and killed himself over it (Grandfather was a Nazi supporting scientist, Fritz Lenz, his father was a scientist, Widukind Lenz who tried to make good for what his father did wrong, and imo successfully, (he was my godfather and schoolmate of my father during highschool in Berlin in the late 1936) and his son (who I babysat when I was 12 and he was eight or so once during a family festivity to which my father had invited his old schoolmate), grandkid of Fritz Lenz, who despaired nevertheless over it and jumped out of his parent's house second floor and killed himself at age 20. His mother said, he left a letter behind indicating that he can't bear the evilness of mankind anymore.

If that grandkid had been your kid, what kind of advice would you have givem him to not despair?

I think one should focus on the situation 'du jour' and fight the battles of 'today' and not those of 'yesterday'. Just saying. I read your comments always with interest and respect for their detailed information. This comment is not meant to be a criticism, more a side realization that pops into my consciousness lately more often than before.

Under the Obama administration, the US has sold $115 BILLION dollars worth of arms to KSA.

Obama’s Final Arms-Export Tally More than Doubles Bush’s

Most of the $278 billion in approved sales have gone to Saudi Arabia and other Mideast allies.
The Obama administration has approved more than $278 billion in foreign arms sales in its eight years, more than double the total of the previous administration, according to figures released by the Pentagon on Tuesday.
...
How does the Obama administration compare to its predecessors? Earlier this year, Hartung did the math: Obama has brokered more arms deals than any administration since World War II. For immediate comparison, the George W. Bush administration approved $128.6 billion in arms export between 2001 and 2008.
...
Saudi Arabia has been the largest recipient, reaping prospective deals worth more than $115 billion, according to notices announcing the deals that were sent to Congress for approval.

Not too shabby for a president who won the Nobel Peace Prize.

The policy issues enumerated here are the exact reason why the Democrat Party is dead as a Liberal Party. The Clinton strategy won, Democrats are now Republicans with a liberal slant only on identity politics, and even at that the Clintons are timid, re DOMA.

I see two possibilities. The first is that the Republican Party moves slightly to the Left on a few issues and knocks off the Democrat Party forever. Or, a new populist party forms embodying many of the principles of the New Deal, foremost making America work for her people. There is a huge opening right now. DemExit has created a new political demographic. The Republicans don't know whether to impeach or hug their brand new president. In any event, he does not reliably represent their core values. To be sure a new party needs to win some House seats and Senate seats, but the good news is that there is an opportunity to deny a majority for either main party.

Capitalism has always been the rule of the people by the oligarchs. You only have two choices, eliminate them or restrict their power.

Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.

A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.
