Pres. DT Threatens to Send U.S. Troops to Mexico to Take Care of 'Bad Hombres'

President Trump Threatens to Send U.S. Troops to Mexico to Take Care of 'Bad Hombres'

Source: Time/Associated Press

President Donald Trump threatened in a phone call with his Mexican counterpart to send U.S. troops to stop "bad hombres down there" unless the Mexican military does more to control them itself, according to an excerpt of a transcript of the conversation obtained by The Associated Press.

The excerpt of the call did not make clear who exactly Trump considered "bad hombres," — drug cartels, immigrants, or both — or the tone and context of the remark, made in a Friday morning phone call between the leaders. It also did not contain Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto's response.

Still, the excerpt offers a rare and striking look at how the new president is conducting diplomacy behind closed doors. Trump's remark suggest he is using the same tough and blunt talk with world leaders that he used to rally crowds on the campaign trail.

after reading his latest rant, this time against Mexico.

He has no idea of the negative consequences of that, if he does implement such a mindless act of old-fashioned North American Yanqui terrorism, directed against a nation-state which is allied with the rest of Latin America.

If he isn't a mental basket-case, then I suppose he must be trying to destabilize the whole world for some domestic fascist power play to create a US dictatorship of oligarchs.

Either case, he has to be removed from office ASAP before a nuclear war becomes a reality. He talked about using nuclear weapons during the campaign, so that's not an idle threat now.

Pissin' off Nieto to the point he retaliates by secretly allowing ME terrorists into Mexico and then ushering them to our southern border.
Great move, open up our flank.
Remember that brouhaha about mules with cantaloupe thighs hauling hundred pound backpacks of pot across the border? It could be a hundred pounds of chem/gas.

Neither Russia nor China is our enemy.
Neither Iran nor Venezuela are threatening America.
Cuba is a dead horse, stop beating it.

and Black Jack Pershing, it's good enough for Trump.

Great point here, @gjohnsit .

If you just read history, the textbook shit, there are all kinds of "Rough Rider" stories, that someone like Drumpf would really find quite appealing. I'm sure he's rather fond of the Pinkerton Agency too.

Kind of crazy to think that we might be warped straight back to the 1890s.

50/50 it's true or false. I'll wait for a verification.

@Raggedy Ann @Raggedy Ann The Trump administration has said it was “officially putting Iran on notice” in reaction to an Iranian missile test and an attack on a Saudi warship by Iranian-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen but gave no details about how Washington intended to respond.

So what's there to disbelieve? Trump is a proven pathological liar. The dialogue most likely happened in those exact words. The Mexican President Nieto may deny it for diplomatic reasons. He is aware of the sordid history of US imperialism. Mexico has no need to invade any country, unlike the US.

I know what happens in Latin America when a Rethug become President. It's deja vu, the genocide begins anew.

I recall a similar absurdity coming from Raygun, who in 1984 declared a Sandinista invasion of the US from Mexico was imminent. Graphs and pictures on TV to prove to the gullible US public. In reality, there was no absurdity south of the border, a very real genocide did occur in the 1980's. Death squad governments allied with US, this was an Operation Condor that shifted north from South America and into the fascist politics by the oligarchies within Central America. Courtesy of USA.

A threat coming from the US-Mexican border? Surely this is fake news. In which it was previously used to justify increasing hostilities, against Nicaragua for example. Genocide in Central America. And other sordid historical facts, such as the Contra war. Over here, it spawned the absurd Hollywood 1984 movie called "Red Dawn", On the Reagan/Bush timeline, half a million people were killed by US-sponsored military death squads, generally non-combatant civilians. There were simply not enough leftwing guerrillas to flush out and kill, particularly in Guatemala where they were just these small Marxist groups hiding out in the jungle mountains. So they just killed the civilians. It was the US official doctrine: Terrorism.

A new gangster Rethug is in power, this time a Trump, for historical reasons I don't think Latin Americans should treat this threat as an idle one. His business in Latin America will be dripping with the blood of peasants.

The reported dialogue between Trump and Nieto was probably accurate, but it's kept secret so there can be the element of deniability. Again, I repeat, Pres. Trump is a pathological liar anyway, so what's there to disbelieve?

Mexico does not have a military capable of retaliation. It's not in their interests and goes against their policy of promoting peace and military disarmament in the whole of the Americas. Few people in the USA even have the slightest clue about The Treaty of Tlatelolco.

Oh, good, maybe people can hope for criminal banks will stop the sociopathic billionaire President, since there's no actual government, checks and balances or law and order to do it... This would have made a great comedy several decades ago, no doubt, although nobody would have believed it. What a madhouse...

Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.

A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.
