Daily Kos and Tulsi Gabbard visit to Syria

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2017/1/26/1625555/-Rep-Tulsi-Gabbard-has-turned-into-a-stooge-for-Syria-s-dictator-Who-will-primary-her

It is with great dismay that I read on KOS the David Nir piece on Tulsi Gabbard's visit to Syria. If this piece demonstrates nothing except the complete takeover of KOS by paid shills arguing with each it surely demonstrates that the Democrats are a lost party. In all my years of being a Dem, and I mean to tell you it goes way back to the 60's with cheering for each new SCOTUS ruling that we won, I have never been so embarrassed to see the party flail so wildly - grabbing onto each negative piece of media trash that comes along. What are we now? - the party of WAR?? Do the Democrats (I'm no longer one) actually want a war in Syria? That's what a "safe zone" would involve - just another false target for the US to post up to prove just how horrible their own "terrorists" are? This is terrible and the first time in months that I have actually read any KOS related material - but it is NOT good. Markos deserves some accolades from the CIA for turning a community against their best interests - not good for society but certainly proves how propaganda can turn a country on a dime if it needs to. Tulsi was eviscerated on national news (those who would even dare mentioned her visit and only, only Tucker Carlson on FOX (of all places) gave her a fair shake. Sad just sad to see how easily we can become the next Syria with the help of Markos and the like...

Peace - and I MEAN it!!!

And with pretty much every other country that isn't already effectively our colony.

Dogma now is that nuclear war is survivable (for some) and would end with Full Spectrum Dominance for the U.S. Empire. They are insanely bloodthirsty. Look at Obama's late-term moves, packing more troops along Russia's borders, in Norway, for God's sake!

@Oldest Son Of A Sailor @Oldest Son Of A Sailor Russkis, anyway! The barbaric, Satanic hordes from the East that Hitler warned us about! Wait, WAIT! -that doesn't work either. But I'm sure that Vladimir Putin is some kind of evil mutant with super-powers, so we may have to use - NUCLEAR FORCE! Yeah, that's the ticket!

Jeebus, it's like a Godzilla movie where Godzilla hasn't DONE anything, but they still want to bring out the full-spectrum military response.

There is one very heartening thing I note concerning Tulsi Gabbard. I have a bad habit of always reading comments on the web, at least the first page of them. And when I watched the Faux Gnus interview with her, there were multiple comments saying: "I'm a Republican, and I would vote for her!"

Gosh, so would I, over here in LEFT field. But like Bernie, she is (so far) staying with her abuser; the Great Donkey. The Dems are the ONLY ones that don't want to hear more from Rep. Gabbard. Does anybody still doubt that the Dem leadership is firmly, irrevocably committed to shooting themselves in the ass, emptying the clip, and re-loading? Yeah, a new Party sounds better by the second.

BTW, for those of you who are still playing the GOS game, and actually think that anybody can be saved over there; or if you just feel like pissing them off;

Tulsi Gabbard is our very first Hindu, AND our first American Samoan, member of Congress.

Ergo, her detractors are OBVIOUSLY racists, and religious bigots; possibly radical Right-wing Moslems. It's that CIA-Islamofascist connection. Kos may well be a Wahabist. Just sayin'. If you're still into planting seeds over at the Great Orange Satan, that is.

It might explain the Russophobia over there, sort of. Or maybe Kos just has a Napoleon complex to the point where he wants to act out. Invading Russia! It's not like three major world powers have tried that and failed miserably or anything! It would be so simple; just like invading Afghanistan! Let's see them ROOSHINS do somethin' like that! Oh, wait, where was that better example? I had one here somewhere.

@fakenews The only question is whether we are at critical mass or not. I suspect we are. Particularly if we are not firmly committed to excluding the working class from power, or playing identity politics. This country would unite around issues that matter, but we are fed a diet of wedge-issue BS. Things that both the Left and Right 99% agree about never become policy.

In the long view, political parties come and go. The Democrats need to go the way of the Whigs before them. I'm never going back to the Great Donkey. Never. I am certainly not alone. They crossed the line with me by cheating Bernie out of the nomination, and subsequently trying to pretend they didn't. -AND NOW they are risking a nuclear war to try to distract people from discussing that. They are actually talking about WINNING a nuclear war. With a straight face. That's a level of idiotic, nihilistic psychosis that threatens us all. The Great Donkey is rabid. It should be put down; the sooner the better.

How can anyone expect to make electoral change with

rigged elections run by corporate political parties stated to be unanswerable to The People because of being 'privately owned' political parties determining The People's electoral choices,

selections being made by TPTB as to who can run/win of two corporate Parties, one of which The People are expected to identify with and rally behind to some divided and feasible-for-semi-plausible-electoral-cheating extent

- and now with Homeland (In)Security taking over control of elections, away from any hope of independent/citizen oversight?

Will the donors/owners of these corrupt corporate Parties mend their ways to allow for a 3rd Party run without even stealing votes from such contenders?

How about the corporate media?

How much longer will we have internet?

How long do we now have before dissidents begin to disappear?

Hasn't anyone seen this history before?

I saw an earlier hit piece on Tulsi Gabbard by one of the less popular kos kids/sockpuppets? that had a very vicious comment thread. Sometimes it seems like kosly kids are softened up for the big attacks posted by the Important People from the Front Page.
I just skimmed the diary you linked, but it looks like something that would make Faux News proud. Oh, Yeah, Oops. Fox News is the one being reasonable about this? I never thought I would see Faux do anything 'fair and balanced'. Now I am waiting for the sun to rise in the west.

Several of my comments on the Russia situation have disappeared from my comments list over at TOP. I have never been HR'd there. I thought that even if a thread or diary was hidden that my comments would stay in my own comments list?

I am beginning to see TOP as a place to find out what the Dem leadership wants and occasionally to try to get signatures for petitions about worthy causes. I have some knowledge of database manipulation and data mining; I often feel manipulated over at TOP.

@asterisk I think you are right. There is definitely a behind the scenes editorial direction/agenda. I noticed that nearly all the front pagers have written an anti-Russian article--the site definitely wants to keep the Russian accusations very visible and lasting. The hit piece on Gabbard seemed to be more shrill than normal and definitely meant to turn democrats against her for talking peace.

I've seen the posts by millenniums and I am very disappointed by the no "thinking" and "herd mentality" that takes place. It's easy to look back at the sixties and think that you are on the right side of history by being anarchist and revolting AGAINST the peace movement. You as young people need to stop, stop and think for yourself - this is not a "Tommy Hilfiger" commercial , it involves real lives. You are being led astray by commercial propaganda - the democrats in your corner are just as likely "killers" as you profess the other (who ever that is) side to be. stop and think, just think my young friends - where are they leading you? If it's NOT peace then it is NOT peace...

Umm, the anarchists in the sixties (and today) support the peace movements.

Please don't confuse the neo-fascist American "libertarians" with anarchists. In the USA, the term "libertarian" has been hijacked by right-wing assholes who only want liberty for themselves and those exactly like them, with endless war and strife for everyone else.

at Dkos and I am currently on a time out because of them. It's gotten real nasty there. I have been trying to get people to see that as long as Dems continue to behave in incredibly hypocritical ways, and continue to deny the facts about Hillary's loss, they will lose again. Now all they do is write tabloid style hit pieces on Trump which is a waste of time when there are so many areas that need their energy and focus. Pointing all this out does not sit well.
I do have to thank them though.... being on a time out gave me the final reason I needed to leave the Party. I went down to the local clerk's office and after 40 years of being a Democrat, changed my registration to Independent.
And when the time out is over, I will not hesitate to return to posting comments to point out the hypocrisy when I see it again.
I too read the diary on Tulsi Gabbard's trip to Syria. It doesn't surprise me that she is so reviled at DKos. She insulted everyone by quitting the DNC and promoting Bernie. That's all she needed to do to be on the shit list in Daily Kos heaven.

Oh, and here's a good one..... turns out that Deval Patrick, who just joined Obama's new "Foundation" refused to release his income taxes to the public when he ran for governor. Apparently it was OK for him to do that, but not Trump.

OMG, I love Tulsi Gabbard for diplomatically uttering the truth about the role of the US and their allies in arming and otherwise supporting terrorists - this including the group (eventually) claimed responsible for 9/11 by the corporate coup/TPP-creating top Bush Admin corporation-representative guys who ignored and shut off warnings about the incipient attack for months, were too 'disorganized' due to scheduling war-games with the necessary defences at just that time to prevent it, and used the disaster as an excuse of the sort stated to be required in order to attack other people's oil-rich countries for long-planned connected-corporation gain - in this attack and invasion of the oil-rich Syrian people! And CNN actually aired this, without switching the facts off to cover any entertainment emergencies? Good for them!

https://www.theguardian.com/environment/earth-insight/2013/aug/30/syria-...

Syria intervention plan fueled by oil interests, not chemical weapon concern
Massacres of civilians are being exploited for narrow geopolitical competition to control Mideast oil, gas pipelines

Nafeez Ahmed

Friday 30 August 2013

... Experts are unanimous that the shocking footage of civilians, including children, suffering the effects of some sort of chemical attack, is real - but remain divided on whether it involved military-grade chemical weapons associated with Assad's arsenal, or were a more amateur concoction potentially linked to the rebels.

Whatever the case, few recall that US agitation against Syria began long before recent atrocities, in the context of wider operations targeting Iranian influence across the Middle East. ...

... According to former French foreign minister Roland Dumas, Britain had planned covert action in Syria as early as 2009: "I was in England two years before the violence in Syria on other business", he told French television:

"I met with top British officials, who confessed to me that they were preparing something in Syria. This was in Britain not in America. Britain was preparing gunmen to invade Syria." ...

...So what was this unfolding strategy to undermine Syria and Iran all about? According to retired NATO Secretary General Wesley Clark, a memo from the Office of the US Secretary of Defense just a few weeks after 9/11 revealed plans to "attack and destroy the governments in 7 countries in five years", starting with Iraq and moving on to "Syria, Lebanon, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Iran." In a subsequent interview, Clark argues that this strategy is fundamentally about control of the region's vast oil and gas resources.

Much of the strategy currently at play was candidly described in a 2008 US Army-funded RAND report, Unfolding the Future of the Long War (pdf). ...

... It would seem that contradictory self-serving Saudi and Qatari oil interests are pulling the strings of an equally self-serving oil-focused US policy in Syria, if not the wider region. It is this - the problem of establishing a pliable opposition which the US and its oil allies feel confident will play ball, pipeline-style, in a post-Assad Syria - that will determine the nature of any prospective intervention: not concern for Syrian life.

What is beyond doubt is that Assad is a war criminal whose government deserves to be overthrown. The question is by whom, and for what interests?

And what of the far worse war criminals behind such global plots as this? We know the chemical attacks on civilians were not initiated by Assad.

Regime change in America, in the interests of democracy, Americans, America, the world and of the world's people and planetary life would seem to be the real imperative. Or there'll be nothing left to salvage in a very short time, indeed.

We have to get polluting industry the hell out of governance - now.

@gjohnsit I'm with @fakenews , "CNN is a p.o.s." Here is a good anti-rant for that interview:
http://www.newslogue.com/debate/304/CaitlinJohnstone

In her first major television interview since returning from her fact-finding mission to Syria, Gabbard was subject to a breathtakingly obnoxious spin job on CNN at the hands of the phenomenally despicable Jake Tapper, who peppered her with so many establishment party lines it’d make even the greasiest Fox News pundit blush. In the seconds leading into his interview with Gabbard, Tapper ran an appallingly blatant psy-op featuring “Bana Alabed,” a social media presence whose authenticity is subject to so much doubt from experts that it’s absolutely inexcusable for any purported news source to run any story about it as fact.

Speaking to Radio Sputnik, Russian political scientist Alexander Konkov said that her departure is highly symbolic, and could presage important changes in the Trump State Department's attitude toward US-sponsored regime change operations.

@fakenews @fakenews glad I am that Hillary is not now president. In a world of two evils, she definitely is the greater in my mind.

With Hillary, we'd have been radioactive dust piles by now, and the last comments on DKos would have been 'Yay, we're finally nuking Russia, China, Iran, India, Pakistan and a whole list of other countries! We're Number 1 again!'

Not that anyone would have been around to see them, or that internet would have survived, either.

All this is being generated by a Clinton propaganda site. It's a Turd Way operation to try to ruin her and her career before too many people hear that the 'New' Democrats have been lying to us as usual. They want regime change and Syria's assets, the Syrian people want to live so they want peace. The two ideas here ARE mutually exclusive.

It's another gaslighting job by the neo-liberals.

@Amanda Matthews @Amanda Matthews Too bad I didn't see the diary before today because a person posted this comment.

Heroes don’t meet with mass murderers in secret

This is a picture of McCain meeting with the leaders of Al Qaida and other terrorists leaders.
The article that I got the picture from said that he could be charged with treason because HE DIDN'T GET PERMISSION to go to Syria like Tulsi did.

Wonder how they would have reacted if I had posted this picture and the link to the article?
Never mind, I know. Something about right wing talking points or something else that tells me that I am wrong.

guess it might go along the lines of - protesting what dKos and the neolibs say you should protest against, even if that means more war and killing - is not going in the right direction. I know there are so many social issues swirling around that the newbies into the fray (if in fact they are newbies and not bot accounts) should pick their fights apart from swallowing the whole cookie just because of some faux bloggers opinions. but yes the anarchist meme was unintentional and the true anarchists do have a valid point about our culture as Chomsky has written many times.

Congress critter with half a brain, and all they can do is shit on her. What, we're supposed to embrace Obama's "peace-loving" crew of Samantha Powers, Vicky Nuland, and Hillary "no-fly zone" Clinton as emissaries of a national consensus? To hell with that, and to hell with Brennan and Ash Carter and Chuckie Schumer and the entire MIC establishment. And fuck Donald Trump too, while we're at it.

Daily Kos has got its head buried so far up its ass, it is now peering out from its own nostrils. The site has become a parody of what it once claimed to be. By abandoning critical analysis in favor of partisan cheer leading and other-blaming, and by failing to identify and address the causes of the Democratic Party's dysfunction at a root level, Daily Kos is in the process of rendering itself conceptually irrelevant.

This is a sad state of affairs. I do not celebrate the precipitous decline of the once-influential and inspirational congruence of interests that was Daily Kos, circa 2004. Little did we know, back in the early 2000's, how perfidious and self-serving was the nature of the "loyal opposition" to the crimes of Dubya and Cheney. Little did we know, how compliant and often complicit our "Democratic" representatives had been in these crimes. Well, now we know. Or at least we should know, if we have eyes to see and ears to hear.

Obama, the silver tongued advocate for all we believed in, the miraculously black emissary for world peace, proceeded to betray the American working class as soon as he took office. First thing he did was to bail out the big banks. In foreign affairs, he needlessly abetted the Ukrainian revolution and resulting chaos, the utter dismemberment of Libya, and the attempted overthrow of the Syrian government -- via jihadist proxies, all the while railing against ISIS. Which was only prevented by Russia's intervention. So Mister Nobel Peace Prize in retaliation declares Russia to be Public Enemy #1, thereby initiating Cold War version 2, and threatening the entire world with a nuclear nightmare. Way to go Barack, Bravo. Hero of the Democratic Party who, in eight years in office managed to do exactly what? Prove that even black people can be upper-class corporate imperialists, just the same as white folks? Well, I guess.

And Hillary, Obama's rival-compatriot was supposed to take over the reins of an utterly corrupt and fully compromised Party that had never demonstrated an ounce of ideological integrity since the days of Jimmy Carter?

@native I feel exactly the same way as you do about the DP , Obamas's roll in the destruction of it and how far DK has fallen since the days when the site members were against the Middle Eastern wars or supporting coups.
When we worked hard to give the democrats the power to roll back the Bush abuses, they betrayed us. That was in 2006 and here we are 11 years later and they are doing the same things.
Voting to confirm people who aren't qualified to be in charge of dog catching.
Not one democrat has to vote for any of those people because they would be appointed by just republican votes, yet Warren says that she voted for Carson because Trump might try to appoint an even worse candidate.
Schumer and Pelosi have stated that they are going to try to work with Trump and his agendas but will be keeping their eyes on him and his appointees. After they are appointed there is nothing that they can do if they don't do their jobs.
Here's an article from Greenwald 7 years ago that explains the games and deception of the democrats by changing who gets to be the person that sacrifices their integrity and work with the republicans to pass legislation.
It's from during the health care debate and when Rockefeller had been on record for a public option before the vote for it and why he decided to vote against it when the time came for him to put his approval for it.
I hope that people read this.
It shows that the democrats are in league with the republicans and have been for decades.

It's just a game for them.

@snoopydawg , As per a few Dylan lyrics,

Well, I thought that the rain would cool things down
But it looks like it don't
I'd like to get you to change your mind
But it looks like you won't.

From now on I'll be busy
Ain't going nowhere fast
I'm just glad it's over
And I'm seeing the real you at last.

for me I guess the cruelty of destroying whole countries is top on the list of how we got thrown overboard. That did not abate over the last eight years, broke my heart but that's the reality. Looking back over how functional countries can end up being shells (literally) of their former selves because of the imperialist formula of gutting a country with fake terrorism. Some day, we can only hope that Nuremberg returns to take justice on these bastards (if they're not all dead of old age) and history will look back on the good ol' US of A imperialist days as a horrible nightmare...
