or 'Getting to Grips with a New Camera'.
I've had the camera a couple of weeks.... and am still trying to work out all the options (seemingly thousands).
Of the shots I've taken, this one is my favourite:
Portrait of a Cat
Not much else that is very noteworthy, so here's a shot from last year.... a misty, Minnesota lake.
So, back to practicing with the new piece of kit.
If you have shots, feel free to share.

Such a beautiful portrait Bollox.
It’s so soft and beautifully focused. I think your new camera has a great quality to it.
He is an amazingly beautiful cat, who looks like he forces you to get down to his level, unless you always hang out on the floor ; ).
Daffodils in winter, January 15, 2017
Thank you psyched,
for two majestic portraits of common varieties. It's nice that you can encourage daffodils to bloom in the winter.
Nice portrait.
(Not quite sure why this ended up here, but anyway.)

Thank you.

Still, I get to commune with furry friends.

Easier though Bollox,
to come to grips with a new camera than a new president : (
I wonder if everyone
is stupefyingly benumbed?
Purfleet makes more sense than Trump
even when she's chuntering on about the 'Grill of Death'
or the state of English cricket.

I love the colour orange!
I am going to admit something that I may never be forgiven for,
but I have never watched cricket or rugby. That means that I can never consider myself a true kiwi, and because I had to look up "grill of death", I am not a real american either, I guess. I'm partly both I think. I bet you feel similarly at times.Rugby I can live without (too many bad school memories)
But cricket? Days of 'Rain stopped play'. What's not to love.

nevermind

Wishful thinking, I guess.
Very funny, gustogirl!

whew..... daunting
Been trying to not focus on national politics today. Local, yes. Setting up a google file to monitor new housing developments. Boring but useful.

So far lovely camera, but lots of bells and whistles.

The 'bun in light' photo is amazing
The lighting naturally, the look of awe or expectation on the lookers/bakers face, and the weird blue neon light mimicking the shape of the roll on paper.
very nice janis
love the mixed textures of the wood and the fern shadows.
edit - Thought I was replying to janis. Who knows.

Late to the Party, but thanks BR & fine C99P
photographers!
I enjoy the many lovely feline photos--as well as the birds and other animals. Occasionally, I snap a photo of Mister B when we're walking, but not sure if I transfer the photo to my hard drive, if I'd still have a copy on my Android phone. (That matters, because I use some of his photos as caller ID photos.)
Anyhoo, think I'll try to find and post a couple photos of Westminster winners that I think are especially beautiful. That would include 'James,' the 2007 Best Of Show--a Springer.

Thanks, magianmma--since it's pretty late,
I think I'll post it next week, in hopes that more Folks can see this perfect looking dog. James was handled by the same handler who took Springer Ch. Salilyn 'N Erin's Shameless--call name, Samantha--to Best-In-Show at Westminster in 2000. And, her sire was BIS in 1993.
Not that I'm biased -
- but Springers are the Westminster Dog Show's third winningest breed--after the Wire Fox Terrier, and Scottish Terrier.

RL, I don't have a cloud backup service (except
for my faxes).
Hey, I hope you're feeling better by now, regarding both your loss, and your gall bladder problem.
(Mister B has recovered physically from his gall bladder surgery, but he seems much more clingy. Maybe I overdid his care--dunno. Hard not to, though--the incision ran from the top of his sternum, along side and past his private parts. Anyhoo, now he follows me from room to room, if I leave for more than a couple of minutes. BTW, from what I understand, it's mostly a Laparoscopic surgery for humans.)
Take care.

Nothing for me this week
as we're in the process of moving. Not sure when I'll be able to get out there again. Today would have been lovely for birding, but we were too busy. Also ended up getting the water pump, thermostat and serpentine belt replaced in the car. Fun times.
Anyway, here's a list of birds I want to photograph:
hooded merganser
common and Barrow's goldeneye
wood duck
mandarin duck
green heron
black crowned night heron
American bittern
sandhill crane
western and Clark's grebe
Steller's jay
mountain bluebird
western tanager
Clark's nutcracker
northern and loggerhead shrike
There's probably more, but we'll see what this year brings.
This shit is bananas.

Symbolically dark and blue Russian River
Sorry about the date stamps forgot to turn off. The eyeglass prescription upgrade fell off budget years ago so I can't see worth beans in dim light, or up close, or far away. Ha ha go on laugh, I do. Sometimes the photos look awesome when I get home and see them up close, others not so much.
At the bridge Thursday morning

Buzzard (Turkey Vulture) airing its wings on phone pole in distance

What ~20,000 cubic feet of water per second looks like, it's a lot.

There is a bunch of household trash under the bridge, the city water workers drive by it every day, it's a county problem, see how that works? Contractor's delight. I pick up garbage when I feel better than it does, and put it where it goes. Right now I have to stay away the water calls like crazy, a pocketful of rocks.
The Russian River ends in west county, at the coast near Jenner. Protectors always needed.

"At the bridge Thursday morning"
is very moody and beautiful. It's nice that you and others care for this place, so that it's charm can be saved and appreciated.
Compared to height of drought
shoppaste in an arrow with a graphical image manipulation program, to show practically zero cubic feet per second.edit: ugh branding sneaks in everywhere, free advertising, if i sneeze i still think kleenex. ugh.
The storm woke me up again oh noes it is massive, I did like the delay of Obama's fancy retirement landing, wish he was going to live in a tent. Hang on Los Angeles. Peace.
Does that mean that the drought was more severe in the past?
We too here, had a really intense wind/rain storm. The wind reached 80mph at moments. Rain is usually in abundance where I live.
