The Evil Empire Is Back! With Greenwald Update.

More allegations about Trump: from Manchurian Candidate to Puppet and potential target for Blackmail.

At the heart of the matter

The material, which has been seen by the Guardian, is a series of reports on Trump’s relationship with Moscow. They were drawn up by a former western counter-intelligence official, now working as a private consultant. BuzzFeed on Tuesday published the documents, which it said were “unverified and potentially unverifiable”.

The source? Rest assured:

An official in the US administration who spoke to the Guardian described the source who wrote the intelligence report as consistently reliable, meticulous and well-informed, with a reputation for having extensive Russian contacts.

Yet:

Despite glowing references from US and foreign officials who have worked with the source, there are some errors in the reports. One describes the Moscow suburb of Barvikha as “reserved for the residences of the top leadership and their close associates”, but although it is a very expensive neighbourhood, there are no restrictions on who can own property there. The document also misspells the name of a Russian banking corporation.

Meticulous, eh?

How many novelists must be cursing at the sun as every plot they are working on is being "open sourced" to the public before they even get paid?

I suppose we are in the phase of "let's throw it against a wall and see what sticks"?

The Clintons: We could be back!

Never thought I would be subjected to a spy novel 24/7, however it stinks to high heaven of a power play.

The duopoly appears to be trying to castrate the incoming executive before they even get into office, this may not be a bad thing as I have long argued that the executive has too much power that was willingly conceded to it by congress. Whilst it may be the one positive those that are trying to grab power are less than trustworthy, i.e. congress and we all know just how popular that group of sold out politicians are in the US.

The MSM [Oligarchs], Democrats and Republicans are all in on the show, they care dontcha know. The fallout could be truly comical....if you live on Mars that is, move over climate change we have a global conflict to manage now!

We live in farcical and probably very dangerous times.

Remember, none of this is proved and possibly cant even be proved. You cant handle the FACTS!

This needed to be added, for memory if nothing else.

Greenwald The Deep State Goes to War with President-Elect, Using Unverified Claims, as Democrats Cheer.

Their most valuable instrument is the U.S. media, much of which reflexively reveres, serves, believes and sides with hidden intelligence officials. And Democrats, still reeling from their unexpected and traumatic election loss as well as a systemic collapse of their party, seemingly divorced further and further from reason with each passing day, are willing – eager – to embrace any claim, cheer any tactic, align with any villain, regardless of how unsupported, tawdry and damaging those behaviors might be.

You might end up paying heavily for your faith in spooks.

As if the reality of Trump is not bad enough [thanks for that one Democrats] the CIA as our saviours?

But cheering for the CIA and its shadowy allies to unilaterally subvert the U.S. election and impose its own policy dictates on the elected President is both warped and self-destructive.

It's a very good piece and sets out the timelines and various claims very well.

There are solutions to Trump. They involve reasoned strategizing and patient focus on issues people actually care about. Whatever those solutions are, venerating the intelligence community, begging for its intervention, and equating their dark and dirty assertions as Truth are most certainly not among them. Doing that cannot possibly achieve any good, and is already doing much harm.

Oh well, what the hell, music

A pesky little fact that all the neo Mc Carthyites Clintonistas forget is that the Clinton campaign elevated Trump to the top of the GOP ticket through their pied piper strategy. I suspect the massive amount of free publicity that Trump got via the MSM was partially due to this strategy since the MSM was in bed with the Clinton during the entire campaign.

Going back even further, former secretary Clinton also sold 20% of US uranium reserves to the Russians. So who is really in the pocket of the Russkis? Hmmm.... Wink

Been thinking about Trump and all his tweeting, think he's making a smart move. Disregarding the MSM, and all the DemoRATS, journalists feeding info to DNC, Clinton & their sycophants - and Trump manages to control the message, as he sees fit. He controls the message, and gets everyone else to respond to what he's saying.

Didn't cost him anything in campaign, got all the attention he wanted, free media. He doesn't have to worry about falling for a phishing scheme like Podesta did ( still laughing at that, and his pass@word) and forget hacking.

Trump has rewritten the campaign game, seems to be enjoying himself. Grateful he got rid of the Clintons too.

up

They're already trying, and have been trying for many months now. But so far at least, all their best efforts (which have not really been all that smart) have been in vain. Right from the start, Ds and Rs alike have consistently underestimated Donald Trump. IMO they continue to do so. I do not believe that Trump can be bent to anyone's will.

The US oligarchy as presently constituted is a thoroughly bi-partisan affair, and for the most part, it thoroughly disapproves of Donald Trump. Trump's personal wealth notwithstanding, he has never been an important player within its most influential circles. He has never been a team player, he has always been an inveterate iconoclast, and there is no place for such a creature within the tightly knit alliances and mutually beneficial agreements that keep the current system in charge of the US Reality Show.

By opportunistically aligning himself with key elements of the far right, Trump seeks protection from inevitable attacks to come, from the currently bi-partisan power-sharing structures of the entire US Establishment, both governmental and corporate. Structures that Third-Way Democrats have themselves worked hard to build, in the interests of "pragmatic compromise"... and perhaps their own job security.

This is a bold, but very risky strategy that Trump pursues. His cabinet seems composed largely of ideologues and independently wealthy extremists, who may or may not remain loyal to him, should he try to obstruct or curtail their various programs very severely.

However, I don't think assassination is a viable option for Trump's opponents, no matter how powerful they may be, on account of the disastrous political repercussions such an action would be likely to precipitate. On the contrary, Trump's opponents had better hope he does not meet with some untimely demise or other.

of the current state of US politics, and the mixed messages we're getting from our corporate media:

The famous speaker who no one had heard of said:
Ladies and jellyspoons, hobos and tramps,
cross-eyed mosquitos and bow-legged ants,
I stand before you to sit behind you
to tell you something I know nothing about.
Next Thursday, which is Good Friday,
there's a Mother's Day meeting for fathers only;
wear your best clothes if you haven't any.
Please come if you can't; if you can, stay at home.
Admission is free, pay at the door;
pull up a chair and sit on the floor.
It makes no difference where you sit,
the man in the gallery's sure to spit.
The show is over, but before you go,
let me tell you a story I don't really know.
One bright day in the middle of the night,
two dead boys got up to fight.
(The blind man went to see fair play;
the mute man went to shout "hooray!")
Back to back they faced each other,
drew their swords and shot each other.
A deaf policeman heard the noise,
and came and killed the two dead boys.
A paralysed donkey passing by
kicked the blind man in the eye;
knocked him through a nine-inch wall,
into a dry ditch and drowned them all.
If you don't believe this lie is true,
ask the blind man; he saw it too,
through a knothole in a wooden brick wall.
And the man with no legs walked away

i especially like the line about the paralysed donkey.

That's why I changed my sigline to this one, from the olden days of war protests at Berkeley:

“There’s a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart that you can’t take part! You can’t even passively take part! And you’ve got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels, upon the levers, upon all the apparatus — and you’ve got to make it stop! And you’ve got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it — that unless you’re free the machine will be prevented from working at all!”

Sorry, comrades, I've seen nothing so far that indicates Trump is the horror show the Obama-Clinton-MSM-Deep State axis of evil claims him to be. Before even taking the Oath of Office, Trump averted WWlll with Russia, ended the TPP, brought jobs BACK to the U.S. (more to come), and just held his first press conference without a teleprompter, notes, or a five-minute limit that Clinton imposed with pre-approved topics. Give him a chance ... He's accomplished more pre-inauguration than Obama did in eight years and nobody was droned either.

The people that he intends to run his administration are probably the most hawkish of all time, Kissinger included.

Don't look at Trump watch his minions closely.

Sometimes I almost wish you weren't so damned accurate... Do you kinda get the feeling that since the two-party trade-off scam is failing, a new variation may be to have the President Of (Desperately) 'Hope For Change' opposed by his own (or TPTB's) cabinet picks, Congress and Senate on anything at all potentially benefiting The People so that some will still be suckered by believing in one of the corporate parties while the world expires? The Dems also tried pushing the same Oppose Everything The President Proposes meme the other corporate Party used on Obama...

I also keep thinking of Dune and the Baron Harkonnen planning to place the Beast Rabban over Arrakis and to encourage the infliction of the worst cruelties-for-profit so that in future his nephew would be welcomed as a saviour...

Honestly, with the 'legalization' of US government propaganda use against The American People and with the Orwellian Homeland Security taking over elections, does anyone think any elections TPTB bother to run in future to keep The People quiet will ever matter again? There wasn't much pretense of democracy this time, was there, with the TPP (ready-signed by everyone involved, even when outgoing public officials) still set to go, illegally and unconstitutionally offshoring law and turning government into corporate enforcers under global corporate law? Once having forsworn the oath to uphold the Constitution which is necessary to hold/retain high public office, the oathbreaker obviously can no longer form any part of any legitimate government.

I suppose we just try to hold on until Android Hillary comes out in all of her potholder glory for the Coronation finally so securely nailed down by Homeland Security/State Department/MIC/corporate media, etc. that the Truly Deserving really do NOT need any votes at all to be declared the landslide winner. Then, if this has not already long since occurred, find the nearest desk to crouch under while awaiting the nuclear flash. Or, if we're lucky enough to be in the right spot, maybe never even know what hit us.

What else can we do?

With Trump Victory, China Is Now the De Facto World Leader on Climate Change

In fact, China is emerging as a global climate leader, taking the number one spot in global renewables investment for the past few years. In 2015 alone, China invested some $102 billion in renewables ― more than the U.S. and EU combined, representing around half of new wind power installations globally and roughly one-third of new solar capacity. Realizing the benefits of actively adapting to the new low carbon economy, China is committing to move ahead regardless of what the U.S. does.

7 signs that China is serious about combating climate change

Earlier this month, Donald Trump’s economic advisor Stephen Moore claimed that limiting our carbon pollution is pointless because of China’s supposedly growing coal dependency. “Every time we shut down a coal plant in the U.S., China builds 10,” Moore told E&E News. “So how does that reduce global warming?”

Not only is Moore’s statement simply untrue, but the broader conservative theory behind it is badly outdated. China’s coal use and carbon emissions have dropped for the last two years. In 2015, China cut its coal use 3.7 percent and its emissions declined an estimated 1–2 percent, following similar decreases in 2014.

If China continues to cut its emissions, or even just keeps them at current levels, the country will be way ahead of its goal of peaking emissions by around 2030, which it laid out in 2014 and recommitted to during the Paris climate talks last December.

The Chinese government is spurring this shift to a lower-carbon economy by reducing its indirect subsidies, such as favorable lending from state-controlled banks, for coal and other carbon-heavy industries.. “This is actually a correction for the economy because China is adopting a more market approach,” says Ranping Song, an expert on Chinese climate policy at the World Resources Institute, an international environmental research organization. “That will have an impact on emissions.”

We can’t know whether Chinese emissions will continue dropping every year, but China is committed to improving the energy efficiency of its economy and the cleanliness of its energy sources, and it’s already off to a strong start. “There is a set of things happening in China that will continue to change the trajectory of its emissions,” says Jake Schmidt, director of the international program at the Natural Resources Defense Council.

China Usurps United States As Global Clean Energy Leader

January 9th, 2017— China invested a record $32 billion in global renewable energy projects during 2016 and is expecting to invest at least $361 billion into its own renewable energy sector by 2020, securely placing China as the leading clean energy player in the world.

Two new pieces of news have coincided to show that China is likely to overtake the United States as the most important global player in the clean energy sector.

As of today at this very moment. COAL produces more electricity in China than any other source by a large margin. In fact their coal use is one of the largest in the world. Sure they are making a massive investment in renewable energy. But don't get ahead of reality.

…"getting ahead of reality" is one of the smartest things that humans can do. In the case of China, they were fully aware of the environmental costs of lifting a billion people out of squalor into full development in the 21st century. China mitigated some of costs through their long national sacrifice of the "one child program." That alone is more than any other nation has done to address climate change by curbing population growth.

The fact is, the Chinese can do two things at the same time — produce copious pollution as they settle their population at a higher standard of living, and produce advanced energy technology and infrastructure strategies that will eliminate that pollution.

China now dominates the world in science and technology, particularly in renewable energy. They plan to invest $360bn in renewable power by 2020. Who better than China to tame climate change?

Because of their communist economy, China is the only country in the world with the public resources to take on an ambitious endeavor like saving the world. They have the wealth and initiative to deliver advanced infrastructure and energy strategies to the rest of the world. Their educated workforce is positioned to meet that challenge, with more university graduates in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics than any other country – about about five times more than the US, which stopped investing in its People decades ago. In science and engineering alone, China generates nearly 30,000 PhDs annually.

The Chinese have already produced the world's biggest radio telescope and the world's fastest supercomputer, and are building the world's largest particle accelerator and the world's most ambitious space program, with a whopping 30 missions schuled for 2017. The sheer development speed of China's science and technology says that China can deal with global warming caused by runaway capitalism in record time, too.

I agree that China is making great strides, having looked an unsurvivable environment in the face for quite some time now. But having killed off their ecology and poisoned everything and everyone within their country, (much of which unrestrained industrial pollution also travels around the world, carried by global air and water currents) they can never repair the losses which took billions of years to ultimately evolve.

Technology and biology are different things, and the first should, at the least, not damage/kill off the second - it's quite possible to make a decent profit without massively off-loading 'the costs' of industrial poisons, illness, death and destruction of the environment and spending a fortune in redirecting disease attribution, regulation and liability away from your own products and pollution - generally onto the victims themselves in order to knowingly continue to profit by slow murder - and if the maximization of profits by maximizing damage and hazard to everyone else had never been permitted to polluting industries by complicit government officials, we would not be in our current state.

Indecent profit gained only at the expense of others is nothing less than banditry and often slow murder simply to gain more money than one family could ever spend. Yet so many public officials are willing to allow others to continue to kill for it... or even under unconstitutional 'trade agreements' 'allow' them to sue the public of any country dry if they protest or try to protect themselves from even the most hazardous and unnecessary (if 'cost-effective'/more profitable for the corporation involved) petrochemicals/radiation/asbestos exposures.

Neither technology nor Super Jesus can save us if industrial pollution and corporate greed and lust for totalitarian power complete the destruction of our planetary life support system. The natural biology of which we consist and on which we depend is the growth which must be nurtured as we turn to greener tech, but patented and eternally profitable techological 'fixes' and replacements for life itself have been promoted by certain (polluting and other self-)interests and I do hope that this sort of thing is not what's being considered in your comment?

Personally, I'd never trust industry/for-profit 'science'...

Sanjour used to have a blog which seems to have become difficult to find in searches... Haven't read this yet, but going by his blog (which I haven't read in... several years?) it should be an interesting historical read and may be an important awareness-raiser for some... PEER Blog is another which used to be good... Much more information vanished, was altered/became difficult to find under Obama than Bush...

Psychopathy is not a political position, whether labeled 'conservatism', 'centrism' or 'left'.

A tin labeled 'coffee' may be a can of worms or pathology identified by a lack of empathy/willingness to harm others to achieve personal desires.

We are on the same page, but we are not in the same room.

I speak from a certain point in time: Now. Here's what's real: If everyone in the world stops what they are doing right now and just forrages for food for the next 20 years and walks wherever they need to go, and produces and buys nothing — Climate change will wipe us out right on schedule.

The mistakes of the past do not matter, now.

Abstaining from those mistakes in the future will not save us.

For me, it's a game of miracles. The Chinese have the highest IQs on the planet and they work communally, not competitively in science. If anyone can do it, they can. And if they can't, the world will move on without us.

I think China often deals with extremes. They dealt with low regulations, amassing tons and tons of wealth. That, as you point out, has caused quite a lot of pollution and suffering. However, they seem to now be trying to go "extreme" in the other direction as Pluto is pointing out. When the pendulum swings, it swings.

Unverifiable information seems to be what they are giving us all the time now. Certainly the idea that Russians hacked the DNC/Podesta is completely unverifiable.

NBC's Richard Engel says he has been trying to confirm the oppo research on Trump for more than 4 months, without success. Other reporters have been on it too, seems like they all got the memo.
