Open Thread - Friday, December 30, 2016 - The Morning Blues

Reshaping life! People who can say that have never understood a thing about life—they have never felt its breath, its heartbeat—however much they have seen or done. They look on it as a lump of raw material that needs to be processed by them, to be ennobled by their touch. But life is never a material, a substance to be molded. If you want to know, life is the principle of self-renewal, it is constantly renewing and remaking and changing and transfiguring itself, it is infinitely beyond your or my obtuse theories about it.”

Here I am in the final stretch of another lap around the calendar. I am feeling more bluesy than funky.
The holidays were/are meh. It is hard to shake these blues. Especially under the prevailing circumstances. Heh, I saw Little Jimmy King playing with Albert.
I am trying to work up the energy to shake it off.
Things may be a little loud for some of you, but I use loud blues to set me free.
Heh, that is righteously loud! Reminds me of the time Sweetie took Thing1 and a buddy to Cat's Cradle for early Black Keys. We even ran into Patrick @ School Kids Records.
Loud blues were a fixture of my youth. Growing up in the Burgh means work hard and play harder.
The thread is OPEN. Just remember.
Take that EBs!
Have a Happy New Year!

Good morning, Tim~~~
I love that quote. It plays out in my life. A new record has just been put on the turntable of my life as I have discovered new family to love.
I hope the new year is a positive one for you; really - for all of us. Let's work to make it so.
Have a beautiful Friday, folks!
"The “jumpers” reminded us that one day we will all face only one choice and that is how we will die, not how we will live." Chris Hedges on 9/11
It is reassuring
That you have found someone to hug. I have been feeling particularly isolated. Sweetie is here, sort of. But I think that I have a deeper understanding of solitary confinement being cruel and unusual punishment.

Turn the page.
Most of us, not all, survived 2016. Either by luck or by planning, who knows? I have set myself up with plans for 2017, mostly close to home. I still need two surgeries, both removals of some item, one natural, the other implanted in 2015. That undo will wing me for a time, so I am thinking of scheduling under many constraints. Having one arm when snow falls is....risky. And my PCP recommends the other removal first, but I have an unwilling surgeon, so I may have to shop.
Overwintering two trees that came too late to plant. Yikes! And expecting more in the spring. And need to clear spots in the woods for them to catch some rays. But I have a plan. For the spot I steward on this earth.
Hard to tell now, I still write checks on occasion. Usually I have proved to be good at recalling it's a new year until around March. Then I revert. I do not think that will happen in 2017.
A good Friday to all. I am just west of a LES snowband, off Lake Ontario. Cayuga Lake may start its engine but I am expecting less than an inch.
Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.
We might
Get below freezing overnight. I have been pondering about things like, writing checks, ETFs, banking, PayPal and the government tracking us. It may be time to fly at a lower altitude and stay off the radar.

Breezy and cool. The sun comes in my east facing bedroom window.

Good Morning, Tim
It is a hard time for you right now, but I hope you are enjoying the same beautiful Carolina blue sky that we have here in Brevard. It is very cool today, but it is also sunny without a cloud in the sky. [video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wwyXQn9g40I]

Same here
I rolled Sweetie out for a little drive and fresh air.

Good morning, Tim!
It is going to be cold this week in east Texas. I still hope to be outdoors this afternoon, puttering with some potted plants, maybe grilling myself nice dinner.
I spent last week in Spain. I was without internet most of the time, surprised about the diplomats being expelled, the actual idea of survivable nukes being openly discussed.
Perhaps the Spanish version of the blues is "The Lonely Bull". At least it is the song in my head.
I know you are struggling to maintain your emotions, and I wish for you and Sweetie all the best, and leave it you to define "the best".

Cool
I would like to visit a couple of Spanish vendors.
