It's seven minutes before the Open Thread should go up, and it looks like JtC has gotten the site back up. As always, thanks for all your work, JtC. We all hope you weren't up all night working on this.
Since time is short, I'm just going to post a video I ran across this week of Ken Kesey at the University of Virginia back in the late 90s. Kesey raps on the Clintons, lotteries, the government's attitude toward psychedelics, threats to love, peace and freedom extant in the world at that time, and his own life. It's very instructive to hear him sound a number of alarms about issues that have only grown worse today.

I just got off face book as all Shah's and my musician friends and half of my DFH friends from real life are all atwitter with how Trump and the RNC are in league with Putin and the Podesta emails are fake. So I posted this and ran off.

Great Kesey video! I watched the whole thing and am flabbergasted at his insight. However, I also realize he was my age during that lecture, and I'm more insightful now than ever, too. I just wish it hadn't taken me so long to catch on to the 1% game. Alas, better late than never.

Adventure of the day: Brush snow off car and venture out
with flurries now giving way to partly sunny. No plowing yet, 3-5" expected overnight. SO The major test was whether I could make the drive back UP my driveway. I forgot I have to switch Traction Control OFF until I got to a chewed-up segment where one of my deer hunters removed a lot of rubber spinning s-l-o-w-l-y up about 100'. My automatic gets switched to manual in 2nd gear for the drive up. It worked; snows and manual/traction control OFF. Took me 2 years to figure out the reverse logic in that.

It feels like a balmy warm day as the temperature here in Portland. It is out of the 20's and we're going to supposedly get a high of 41 degrees. Yippee. We somehow got lucky as our power stayed on while other parts of the city went dark. I'm still itchy as hell from my head to toe rash. It's slowly retreating and yesterday due to severe cabin fever I donned jeans, boots and layered up and went shopping in the freezing cold. That set the healing process back. I feel great other then my the fact that my skin is like an alligator's hide.
The fake news that's supposedly the real deal has gone bananas. Since when did the 'left' think the CIA and other spook agencies we're a reliable source of information or at all truthful? That giant meteor might still be needed to end this madness. I don't think I can take anymore.
So power outages are frequent in Portland?
That surprises me.
We had an outage of a couple of days when Sandy hit (still seems absurd to have a hurricane hit Cleveland), but there were big trees down everywhere, plus a lot of local linesmen crews went to NY and NJ to help them. Otherwise, it doesn't happen much.
It's pretty hard to recognize TOP these days. Even MB is pushing the Russian shit. I guess Kos has run enough people off that he feels he's still in control--control of Orange State.

all our friends most of them musicians from Portland are pushing this Putin absurdity also. These are people who I thought were liberal and most of them we're Bernie supporters. It's madness. What is going on? Are the Democrat's trying to get the election thrown out because the Russain's did it? Pretty insane.

Yes power outages are frequent here in Portland. The city is more interested in demolishing and gentrifying the neighborhoods then fixing or upgrading the infrastructure, including electrical, sewer and streets. They bill themselves as the city that works, just who and what they work for is the problem.
