The reaction to Standing Rock has sprouted from the roots. The variety of media pieces coming from people reminds me of the creativity and productivity of the Bernie movement. It is my hope that resistance to fossil fuels and corporate greed along with protection of the environment and our water reverberates and grows into a unified global effort. I think this remains the important story although it rarely rates a mention in the corporate lame stream media – much like Bernie or the Occupy movement.

I'm still in Awe that Tulsi went to Standing Rock
While only a literal handful of congresscritters have even spoken up about the police atrocities at Standing Rock, she got off her butt and went out there. I sure hope this Vet mission does the trick and shames these Fascist Police State Pigs into standing down. Go Vets!!

estimated 9000 people are scattered in the various camps (in an interview with Jordan of TYT). I've heard there were about 2000 at Oceti Sakowin (and that was before the big influx of veterans).
I hope TPTB find it impossible to shut down the camp or this movement.

(10-12,000 people crowded onto one, admittedly very large, campground north of Pittsburgh for two weeks every summer, to play-act at medieval-ish war.)
This crowd isn't that big, yet, but it's been ongoing for much longer. The logistics must be a horrorshow.

I've been to large festivals with more people, but I've never camped in the ND winter. You're right logistics (just firewood) would have to be difficult.
My little crowd of Alabama hillbillies went to play a festival in MN. We rolled in and set up our camp - which involves a 12 x 24 ft tarp which we equip as a kitchen and music/living area. We looked around and saw none of the other folks had a tarp. We thought we would show 'em how to camp comfortably. What we didn't realize is we were sitting on the edge of the prairie - we spent half our time holding on to the tarp's poles to keep it from blowing away...until we figured to take it down.
That was a comfortable outing compared to the cold, snow, and wind - not to mention police on steroids - the protectors are facing.
