And to be completely honest, I am scared shitless. The only time in my life I have been this scared is 1961, Kennedy and Khrushchev. I have the same feeling in my gut, and have had it ever since the announcement.
Now for the reason for this particular rant from an aged democrat/liberal/humanist. It requires all of us on 99, the folks at TOP, TruthOut, MoveOn and all like minded folks . It's time to stop bitching, stop parsing, stop recriminating and get our asses to work for 2018 midterms, because, even now we can see a sea change beginning to rise. We have to take back both Houses. Otherwise we will pass by as other nations have done, the neo-empire will crash and burn, So let's get our collective shit together and work our asses off.

So it's time to cooperate. Remember how we do that? Extend the first hand. Because whatever deity you believe in (or not), we have to work together, or we all sink. Call me Pollyanna, call me a dreamer. But let us not forget who also had a dream - one that we can not let fade away. And if we lose the dream, we might as well roll over and die. However, remember one thing, cooperation does not necessarily require friendship, only tolerance.

Like-minded folks
I'm happy to work with like-minded folks. Thing is, it takes discernment to recognize whose thinking is like yours, and whose isn't. We're at a tipping point now, and where we choose to put our energy and attention is very, very important.
It's not at all clear to me, for instance, that MoveOn is of the same mind as I am. I was an active member for years, until they failed to strongly support Bernie although over 70% of their members voted to do so. Even before Hillary declared herself presumptive nominee, MoveOn had pivoted to "Oh, no, Trump!" I finally figured out that MoveOn is part of the neoliberal establishment. (I was a slow learner, apparently, since when I remember how they got their start during the Bill Clinton impeachment, it's obvious to me now.)
So to trust MoveOn to be my ally, to rely on them and put my energy into co-creating something with them ... problem is, I don't think I could be sure at all that the thing they were working to create would be the same as what I wanted to create.
