2016 Presidential Election - The Madness of Our Being

animal farm_1.png

My precious granddaughter is 12 years old and in the seventh grade. What a wonderful time in human life. Twelve years old. They're half teenager, half child, able to watch SpongeBob, play with dolls and tell vulgar jokes all at once.

Today she comes homes from school and with a straight face, tells me she said a bad word today and was sorry. I asked her what she said and she turned on the anguish, feigning tears, again saying she was sorry for saying such a bad word. I again asked, well, what did you say that was so bad.

"Grandpa, I said Donald Trump!"

She and I had a good laugh over that one. But it piqued my interest, what else were the kids saying?

It seems a whole new genre of dirty words has been developed based off the pathetic persona of Donald Trump.

"Trump Off!"
"That's a bunch of D.T."
"Trump You Man"
"You piece of Trump!"
"Get the Trump out of here"

The kids, we're talking junior high/middle school (11/12/13 year olds) have illustrated the predicament this country finds itself in. Of the two major candidates for President, one is a dirty word, the other is a war criminal.

This is madness. We've been reduced to listening to or participating in arguments about this asshole billionaire, and make no mistake, Trump is a supreme asshole, and what he says that has nothing to do with the major problems we face as HUMANS, and war criminal sociopath Hillary Clinton's husband's sexual history, himself a certified war criminal.

That is a bunch of Trump!

I can't even describe how whacked this is to me. It is surreal, bizarre, freakish, weird and strange mixed with Trumping stupid and pathetic. Here we are facing issues such as an existential crisis relative to climate change, a world at war with genuine possibilities for a major world war involving nuclear weapons, a runaway global capitalist system that is threatening the very balance of the planet, an end to human Trumping kind, etc., and this is happening in this country. We're on the very tail end of a completely asinine 18 month odyssey of propaganda, illusion and delusion, and this is the final act.

And we're reduced to talking about WHAT? The kids got it right.

Trump that man. Just Trump that.

Trumping next time why don't we just not do this again.

Maybe it just seems so overwhelming that it's easier to talk about their sex lives - or predator lives - than to talk about climate change and WW III and whether or not we can fix capitalism. After all, all we have to do is put them in jail. The big issues seem much more difficult to resolve - even if those two will use their white privilege as get out of jail free cards.

different in this election. Even when they talk about the issues it's devoid of substance and coming from hollow mouths so it's useless to even consider what they say about the issues. Maybe that's part of it too, what else is there to talk about relative to these two? They're both Trumped.

about issues. Maybe if both had come from a place of integrity so that they would stand firm on an issue, any issue, then we could have a discussion about which is better.

Not whether we like someone's style or lifestyle. What have they done & said POLICY-WISE? That disqualifies Hillary, period, even if she hadn't been recorded talking about "a public policy and a private policy" and "Simpson and Bowles got it about right." As you will remember, Simpson & Bowles want to cut Social Security and Medicare because we freeloaders are too expensive when our money could go to Wall St or endless war profiteering.

The disgusting man wants to rebuild our infrastructure and says he won't cut SS/Medicare and that we aren't going to have anyone starving or dying on the street. She, on the other hand, talks about Bernie's "false promises that we can "never ever" have and has even said on camera that she's "open to" more restrictions on abortion, while the disgusting man has defended Planned Parenthood - on a GOP debate stage, yet.

Plus the little matter of World War III that Her Heinous is agitating for already. The disgusting man says things like, "Wouldn't it be nice if we got along with Russia?" Oh, eek - better dead than red again. Although nobody's actually red any more. Bombs away!

What kind of equivalence is that? Why are we being suckered into Clinton's frame?

The issue should be, can the candidate lead, and is where they want to take us where we want to go?

Yes he can, no he can't. I say no he can't. Others on here say he can.
I've seen a fraud from the beginning. A veritable weirdo, whacked out strange man. I want no part of that associated with my being. Where do we draw the line?

knows the context of the video clip you showed and I wished I hadn't looked at it. Just saying, why did you need to post that? I have googled now what the movie Jacob's Ladder is all about. I can't say that I was enthusiastic about having seen that clip. YMMV.

my first job as a professional was in an institution described in the clip. Not the best experience I had. And I didn't associate the clip to the movie from which it was taken. May be I should watch the movie.

Just forget what I said. It was unrelated to the reality of the context for which you posted it.

Can’t say he’s wrong to call out the New York Times and the media orchestration and collusion with the Clintons. He’s full of it on things like the Iran deal.

Hadn’t actually watched him in action — his stance and demeanor remind me of Jesse Ventura.

Edit: My intuition is still telling me a GOP defeat of Goldwateresque proportions is in the works.

I didn't want to be impressed by Trump, but I liked his speech for the most part. He is not what the media has painted him out to be. He also had a very enthusiastic audience.

(And I am one) might opt for Trump over Hillary with rhetoric that mimics Bernie's so closely. However there were no policies other than cutting down "Obama Care" that was mentioned. Generalities about trade deals and bringing back jobs are not policies but wish lists.

Overthrowing the oligarchy was a prevailing theme that ran through the entire speech. Building back education and opportunity into the inner city. They may be broad ideas, but he is clearly articulating what he will DO for America. And doing it in a respectful, not condescending manner. Many have said that Hillary's only campaign meme is how bad Trump is and that she has no platform other than that which she can articulate.

Yes, I do believe Trump has a following of Bernie fans. And a following of African Americans. Not sure about Latiinos.

I think Trump has a stronger following than the "polls" show, because some of that is Clinton propaganda to make voters think he's tanking. I'm no so sure he is though.

Like I said, I don't want to be impressed. But the few times I have heard him speak, my impression is not the same as what is portrayed by the media.

(1) He doesn't want to start WWW III, and (2) he doesn't want to hand our national sovereignty to foreign corporations with the TPP. That's worth a lot, like a chance for survival. Nothing to sneer at. Against those issues, so what if he is rude, crude, has funny hair, and/or is gross. Are we so dainty that we'd rather die or be colonized serfs?

On a secondary level, rebuilding our infrastructure would do a lot for all of us ordinary people. Prosecuting Hillary would make many many people happy. We have to break the machine's power somehow.

All you imperial feminists and male chauvinist clintonholes can go clinton off.

Cigar.jpg

Hooray for the kids! Its a bit harder to make up a seriously good cuss word using "Clinton"... Bill is easiest:

Clinto w cigar.jpg

"Suck my Clinton, Motherclinton." "Up your Clinton, Motherclinton." "Yo Mama takes it up the Clinton." "Yo mama smokes the Clinton cigar."

hillary-drink-crosseyed-575x410.jpg

But lets get right down to Eecchh:

How about a bit of female or male anatomy, "Hillary (Bill) is a clinton."

A bit of the oldest profession or our favorite pet species: "Huma is Clinton's clinton"

And my favorite, "Lassie clintons Clinton's clinton."

has ramped itself up to a full court press in opposition to Trump. Lurid headlines and moral outrage everywhere you look. Hardly a word about the looming prospect of war with Russia.

Trump is Toast! Read all about it. Read only about it. He's a despicable cad, while Clinton is... um... er... not. She may be an Imperialist, but at least she's a feminist Imperialist. So what if she likes to wage wars? Let us focus instead on the Donald's improper fondness for pussies and tits. I mean, since his blatant male chauvinism is such a clear threat to our way of life.

"You can't just leave those who created the problem in charge of the solution."---Tyree Scott

earned his and his friends anger. Here it is

7 graders and their peers (at least in my town) are hardcore anti-Trump. There is no way that any peer of my son could make a pro-Trump statement without being ridiculed.

Trump won't win but if he did it would do a ton of damage to the physiques of these kids.

This was the reason I gave for voting for Hillary, because I promised my son that I would do everything I could to prevent a Trump presidency.

However I have good news:

The latest round of leaks especially the leaks about placating the Bernie wing of the party with a couple of crumbs when crafting the Democratic platform which they have no intention of implementing and the fact that she now admits (internally) to hating the 99%ers have changed my mind.

I'm voting Jill.

If my sons asks me who I voted for I will answer "I did not vote for Trump" (Hat tip to Kharma who suggested this in my essay). If he asks me if that means I voted for Hillary I will answer "I voted against Trump". If he asks if that means I voted for Hillary I will just answer with a smile and ask "what do you think?"

I already feel much better. I had a chance to vote for a Clinton for president twice and passed now I will continue my streak!

(meant as reply to dakrie) At least where I'm from they seem to be solidly against Trump. Of course unless they have a grandpa like me telling them, "but don't forget, Clinton is a war criminal", they might think Clinton is a better choice.
The popularity of both candidates has always been over inflated. Most people know what a farce we're watching.

Many people aren't going to vote. I spoke with a woman probably in her 40s who told me she has only voted once in her life. She says it is rigged, that is reason she doesn't vote.

I think a lot of non-voters have the same reason for not voting. They are not apathetic. They just aren't going to participate in what they see as a corrupt farce. Regular people are more politically savvy than they are given credit for. And many are so turned off by the whole thing that they ignore elections.

If enough people vote for Jill it will be hard to keep her below 5% and we get a third party on the ballot who can win in 2020, and a lot of the local elections before then. The Green Party can become what its members make it as it grows. We'll have a party that will be on the ballot everywhere and will fight for democracy and wont take election fraud lightly, if we fight for it.

ThoughtfulVoter's picture

The timing of these stories is highly suspect, IMHO. ( I'm not addressing the content of the stories and whether these women have an actual claim or whether they have been troubled by it for all the years between when it happened and this last month before we vote.)

Because Hillary has such a strong arm of "journalists" that muddy the waters of good news, almost anything in the media about this election has to be questioned. And because we are so near the election, we may have already voted by the time the "truth" comes out or we learn that there were "consulting fees" paid out to help these storytellers come forward.

these claims, and they know that. Launching them, en masse, less than a month before the election is transparently political posturing, and as such they should be disregarded until after the election.

We're busy talking about grabbing pussies (Trump) and reminiscing about putting cigars inside pussies (Bill Clinton) instead of things that matter. Trump is anti-TPP, so let's dredge up a story about his potty mouth. Trump wants better relations with Russia instead of war, so let's bring in a woman from 35 years ago who thinks he may have touched her ass but she isn't sure. Trump doesn't like Wall Street Bankgangers because they make it hard for him to get credit, so quick, somebody, let's find an instance where Trump hit on a married woman.

If I didn't know better, this could all be considered a classic case of projection and misdirection and obfuscation to remove the spotlight from rapist Bill Clinton and shine it on big mouth Donald Trump so that Hillary's coronation can proceed without a hitch.

Donald Trump’s campaign says a British man is countering claims that the GOP presidential nominee groped a woman on a cross-country flight more than three decades ago.

The man says he was sitting across from the accuser and contacted the Trump campaign because he was incensed by her account — which is at odds with what he witnessed.

“I have only met this accuser once and frankly cannot imagine why she is seeking to make out that Trump made sexual advances on her. Not only did he not do so (and I was present at all times) but it was she that was the one being flirtatious,” Anthony Gilberthorpe said in a note provided to The Post by the Trump campaign.

Indeed, Gilberthorpe claimed, Leeds was “trying too hard” in her attempt to win Trump over.

“She wanted to marry him,” Gilberthorpe said of Leeds, who apparently made the confession when Trump excused himself and went to the bathroom.

“The guy in the seat across the aisle could see. And I kept thinking, maybe the stewardess is going to come and he’ll stop, but she never came,” Leeds told CNN.

That allegation infuriated Gilberthorpe, a retiree living in northwest England, who said, “That I sat there — eyes bulging — and not intervening is nonsense.”

http://nypost.com/2016/10/14/trump-camp-puts-forward-witness-to-refute-s...

Next I suppose someone will try to cough up the old flight passenger list just to verify...once again the Clinton campaign has everyone chasing their tails so that we're not focusing on the real issues.

if you read that link (you don't have to...the link explains it all) you'll see he likes to make claims...like the one referenced here

Gilberthorpe has his own questionable past. As Private Eye reported when his claims about the Tory politicians surfaced, he once got the Gloucester Express to report that he was engaged to a California fashion designer in 1987. However, that whole story was fabricated.
