Obama: Would be 'personal insult' to legacy if black voters don't back Clinton

I wonder if there's a floor for how low this guy will go. The Clintons must really have something good on him; he's looking a tad desperate. I don't know what else to say. You guys have a go at it.

Someone opened the can of worms--
and put it on view for all to see.
It's really creepy when the establishment does that ITSELF, and then expects people to fall in line anyway. What the f.

I don't think it's hijacking -- it's educational!
I read them last night but there seem to be a few new ones ... heading back over now.
A selection of those reviews
which are indeed addictive, would make a great C99% Essay! I'm not trying to give out assignments or anything, just saying....

Obama's legacy is cynicism
Turning all the sincere dreams and votes for "hope and change" into ashes when it became clear whose agenda was being pushed over two terms and it wasn't the 99%.
Even as we speak he is teaming with Kasich to make a final push for the TPP. That about sums up the tenor of his entire administration.

One of mine too - it encapsulates a lot of observations about

FUNNIEST, BEST book I have ever read.
Ok, I'll admit it. Even funnier than the Amazon reviews on "Stonger Together" - which, BTW, Timmy Kaine shilled on MTP this am. Ugh.
Yes...genius funny.

Phoebe you hit the nail on the head!
When I think of Obama, I think of how cynical he has made me and many other Americans. Obama's legacy is selling out the American people, but on the bright side, he too will become extremely wealthy in his post Presidency.

What's wrong with you? Public service is supposed to be about getting yourself more wealth and power! Just ask Hillary Clinton! [ducking!]

He made us cynical but hopefully smarter
It's a lot harder to BS someone who came by their skepticism the hard way - at the expense of their idealism. Bernie was much of what Obama pretended to be, IMO and in quite a different package LOL!
I know that are other people out there who sincerely desire a better country for everyone and aren't simply trying to obtain a lifetime sinecure on the gravy train.

Hank Paulson will be in that group, too.
But how more much change
But how more much change could he possibly create than to enter public office in a democracy and illegally and unconstitutionally turn it (and a whole bunch of other people's predominately democratic countries) into a corporate serf-state? That change making the incredibly rapid killing off of life on the planet for the 'cost-cutting' and profits of a relative few the off-shored global corporate 'law'?

Wow, The Authoritarian Play Is Strong in the Democratic Party.
WTF?
The idea that the Democratic Party is pulling out the Authoritarian arguments on all fronts is disarming, to say the least.
It makes sense though. If 50% of America is going to vote for President, then 23% is a pretty solid bloc.
Gross.

Not at all sure 50% of America is going to vote--
nor even 50% of registered voters.
I think this is gonna be a mega-low-turnout situation.
Which makes 23% even more significant.

That's what I'm thinking. It's too bad that all those

In a different world they are.
"That's a tough question, but we think it was worth it". (Madeleine Albright, under Bill Clinton, responding to the statement that 500,000 Iraqi kids had been killed because of U.S. sanctions on Iraq.)
He's able to talk like he's deserving of some kind of positive legacy and to top it off thinks that helping elect Clinton as President will help it.
Mind blowing.
"yes men" surround every president

May as well say

I don't think
his "poor me/my legacy" shit is going to sit well with AAs. We have several involved in our Union's political council and they figured out Obama's shuck and jive shit long before I did, like in his first year. They told me then, when we still had both houses of congress, that he ain't going to do shit and he's just another corporate lackey. They were right. My AAs Brothers and Sisters bullshit detectors are way better than mine and I think Obama's statement is going to piss them off. We have a meeting this week and it will be interesting to see where they're at on it....
Harry Belafonte was right
He got incredible tons of flak for calling Obama a "house [you-know-what]" - but he was right.

Yes, Harry was right. And so was Ajamu.
Life is strong. I'm weak, but Life is strong.
Killer Mike
Would love to hear what Killer Mike's reaction to this "threat" is. He's alreayd done several interviews, videos about not voting for Clinton or Trump.
Still just reeling that the President of the United States would say something like this. Just stunning.
Trump must be making inroads.
He has been actively courting Black voters in the rust belt recently, framing it as "what has voting Democrat all these years really done for you?"
Sounds like it may be working a little.
The current working assumption appears to be that our Shroedinger's Cat system is still alive. But what if we all suspect it's not, and the real problem is we just can't bring ourselves to open the box?
LOTE
2012 was last time I vote that way. I felt I was voting for a Republican by voting for Obama; I will not do that again.
After the way African American voters have been treated
under his presidency, Obama doesn't get to tell them what to do. He doesn't own the black vote just because he happens to be black. He hasn't done a thing to stop police brutality or curb institutional racism, except make a few flowery speeches to his rich friends. The symbolic power of an African American president lost all its meaning when he let American militarism and corporatism run unabated.
The Obama legacy is a joke. The only thing that could potentially salvage it is Hillary utterly destroying any credibility that the myth of "Obama the candidate" ever had, so that we don't have to deal with this neoliberal bullshit dressed in progressive rhetoric ever again.
Which legacy is Obama worried about?
The longest war ever? The most people deported? The most countries bombed since World War II? The biggest U.S. inequality ever? The biggest surveillance state ever? Obamacare starting a death spiral? The most anemic job creation since 1929? Cold War 2.0?
Insults to his "legacy" are the least of his worries.
I never realized
just how many voting blocks the Democrats are entitled to.
Republicans don't talk like that.
They pay good money for those votes.
Of course they think they're entitled to them.
The current working assumption appears to be that our Shroedinger's Cat system is still alive. But what if we all suspect it's not, and the real problem is we just can't bring ourselves to open the box?

Remember when Trump did an outreach to the AA community?
Liberals were outraged.
Maybe the AA community welcomed it.
Despite claims to the contrary...
Trump is neither stupid nor insane. His outreach to black voters appears to be working. I expect him to focus on Millenials next and increase his support there. Trump seems to be pacing himself well. Waited until after Labor Day to start general election campaign. Reached out to black voters. Mended fences with better educated whites. Let Illary's health speak for itself.
He could win this thing.
Trump could be already
Trump could be already courting the younger age group through his daughter. She seems very poised in the public eye, designs clothes for the middle class woman, and seems to have a bit of a following. She seems much more genuine and dynamic than Chelsea, IMO.
AAs on my crew are supporting Trump
At work in southern Louisiana, I work with a rather small crew - around 20. Three AA males are part of it. Two of the guys are more anti-Hillary than pro-Trump, but one is wildly pro-Trump and quite influential. He's a pretty religious man, and has said enough for me to realize that his pastor is pushing either pro-Trump talk or anti-Hillary talk ... maybe both. (Not that he feels he must do as his pastor recommends; far from it.) Aforementioned church is evidently a large one in Lake Charles, LA, which is where all my AA co-workers live.
Biggest issues: Obamacare (they hate it) and guns.
There's nothing special about these fellows. Frankly, they sound like everyone else I run into that doesn't support Clinton. Perhaps it says something about me that I expected them all to be in the Hillary camp.
That's what the blogs keep telling us. But I don't think so.
Actually, it might be racist to assume AA's are going to be good little boys and do what they're told.
I worked with many AA co-workers at the post office. They are reluctant to criticize Obama to white people because they were intensely proud to finally have a black President. You can't imagine the emotion on the day after the election. Tough guys with tears in their eyes. When you are told all your life (Postal workers tend to be over 50) that you are not quite human, not quite equal, then the symbolism is that much more than we whites can comprehend. At first they were bewildered then they realized he was just another black grifter preying on his own community. They voted to re-elect him because they didn't want the first black President to be rejected, but as one friend told me "no door to doors, no phone banks, not even any donations. He get's my vote - that's it." However to Tea Party members and unknown white people they defend him - because of the symbolism.
His betrayal of all the slave descendants is his deepest sin.
I've seen lots of changes. What doesn't change is people. Same old hairless apes.
Thanks for that insight.
Thanks for that insight.
That is how woman would feel about Hillary if by some accident she became President...like she had betrayed all women.
The worst part is that the
The worst part is that the TPP and other corporate coups Obama's shoving through enslaves all of humanity while rapidly and irrevocably destroying the global life-support system developed over billions of years consisting of life simply for massive short-term additional profits for a relative few. His poor deprived grand-kids (sob) may not be able to play outside because they can't breathe the globally industrially polluted, low-oxygen air and there are too many rotting corpses lying around anyway.

If Obama thinks that's a personal insult
he ain't seen nothing yet. I could top that sober... in theory.
Pathetic.
“I never did give them hell. I just told the truth, and they thought it was hell.”

In a term, the Clintons have "that man," "by the balls."
Without getting into his own legacy and strictly from his viewpoint, he's now hostage to the scorned-by-him, duplicitous, corrupt, law-flouting, secretive, maniacal, money laundering, cabal of perpetual DC insiders who are hijacking the Democratic Party because "it's Her turn," simply and nothing more. That was the deal Barack had to make in 2008. The chickens have now come home to roost.
There's been plenty written about the bad blood between them. Her blatant flouting of her position as SoS to curry favors for the Clinton Foundation is a reflection of that and is not lost on Obama. Or maybe it is. His legacy, whatever it is, is now in the most conniving, self-serving hands who could care less about it.
Despite having a colluding media with assists from all the major social media outlets, conspiring operatives in the MSM who disregard the litany of offenses piled sky high while blacking out Bernie's historic, energetic people-powered campaign and party establishment attack dogs denigrating Sanders with classic RW whistles with every tool in their box at her back, she's run a horrible campaign. Because there's no getting around it. She is a terrible candidate. The majority of the country view deeply suspiciously and see as the reason why their lives keep getting worse. We all hated when the Bushes turned the keys over to their own family again, but we're ok with the Clintons? Monarchy just proves this country's vaunted democracy is a fraud.
It's clear how desperate the Obamas and the Dems are right now. They're reading the tea leaves, and watch every other day as the Clinton Cabal makes one clumsy misstep after another, further isolating themselves from the electorate.
In a reflection of this, the media is cryptically obsessed with Drumpf, desperately trying to do their all to reverse the tide of the Frankenstein monster they helped create in a big way.
I think all this desperation makes them look so much worse. Everybody but Windsock is out all over the country in proxy for her, but the voters rightly smell a rat.
It has to be so obvious to Obama, whose own campaign saw record numbers of voters and volunteers come out for him, that Hills just has nothing comparatively to offer the American People. She is so toxic and loathed. The faux feminism and LOTE crap is starting to and will continue to wear off.
For whatever it's worth, he's got to be livid behind the scenes.

I'd like to believe this
I hope he is livid behind the scenes. But he shouldn't have helped her get here at all.
Of all the many ways I've been disappointed in him, his support for the Clintons in this election is currently at the top of my list. If he hadn't appointed her as Secretary of State, she wouldn't be in this at all. He defeated her in 2008, and should have left her to fade away then. But no, instead he helped her rehabilitate her image and burnish her resume. This shitty situation is on him.
I couldn't care less about his legacy now. I consider it a personal insult to all of us that he foisted her upon us as 'his chosen successor' and if the result is president trumpet, that's on his head. Let him live with it.
I'm totally with you on that. Obama now reaps what he's sown,
and it's ugly from every angle. He turned out be a con man for the 1% and the MIC. The two largest Left movements in a generation started under him (OWS and BLM) because of it, as well as unattended police brutality and no relief from the ceaseless, ongoing economic slog.
All of their desperation of late is so palpable and pathetic.
Of the handful of begging, fear-mongering meltdown emails being buckshot from "Bold" Progressives and the like every single and all day, I fire off scathing responses every now and then to let them know how much I hold them in deep contempt and have left the party forever.

Obama and Hillary are on the same team
Obama's not mad at her for anything. They're both peddling the same line.
Think two rivals who work at the same firm
and have been competing w/each other for years. Also, factor in some personal dislike on top of the rivalry.
They serve the same people and will support each other for the sake of the firm; but they probably dislike each other intensely. Obama, in particular, has reason to dislike Clinton.

seems desperate
putting the responsibility to burnish his legacy on the people he dissed? Pretty weak.
question everything
Once you order the Washington Post
and other MSM rags to gin up Donald stories like "Trump Had Love Child with Satan's Daughter" or "Trump Caught in No-Tell Motel in Times Square with David Duke" or "Trump Itching to Get His Little Hands on Nuclear Codes", there's nowhere else to go. By that point you are so debased, you might as well go to the No-Tell Motel and smoke crack.
...just stick to being Prez...
It seems to me that the President and First Lady should just stay out of politics while they are in office. Stay neutral and concentrate on the job of running the White House. Once their term is over, they can represent whomever they choose.
I assume that not one dime of taxpayer funds go toward their campaigning efforts--that it all comes out of the Clinton fund?
