Colin Powell - "Trump has No Sense of Shame"

Only one um, creature, that I know of has been truly able to encapsulate the U.S. political system in a simple to understand manner.

In all seriousness, I wonder what most people think when they see a Ministry of Propaganda headline like that. Do they understand what an utterly bizarre statement that is, coming from a guy who played a key liar role in an illegal war based on lies that has caused the deaths of over a million people. Do they realize he's a War Criminal? Do they wonder how a guy like Powell could have the fucking gall to say anything about anybody after what he's done?

Nah, I wouldn't imagine most people would pay it much thought. Kind of like how most people don't pay the United States Empire Killing Fields much thought, the wars that aren't really wars but sure seem like wars.

This is what the Serfs are fed, their daily dose of he said, she said, they said to keep them focused on the flagrant farce that is the Great Presidential Election of 2016. To make them think it matters. But it just does not matter, not to We the Serfs.

In Science Faction, the US gave up moon landing projects to focus on low-earth orbit space shuttles to rhe International Space Station before giving up on rocket launches and space shuttles entirely to depend on the Russians to send its astronauts to the ISS while . . .

. . . the Guardians of rhe High Frontier, in the guise of launching satellites from Vandenberg Air Force Base, were actually launching themselves to US Non-International Space Stations in low-earrh orbit and to a Moon Base on the Far Side of the Moon, where, as a unit of the US Strategic Command,

He exudes a steadiness and intelligence that makes him almost charismatic. And then you think about his lies on the floor of the UN and your realize he is the one person that could have turned the course of the ship IF HE HAD ONLY BEEN HONEST WITH US.

In a way, he is less forgivable than W or Cheney because we really did want to trust him.

a war criminal position. Agree, somehow he gets more of a pass than others in that administration and other SOS's which is amazing considering what he did.
To his credit, it is documented that he didn't exactly favor the neocon (Zionist) faction in the Bush admin who were the major pushers for the Iraq war. But he did what he did and he knew what the deal was.

for months, and all anybody saw was Wolfowitz, and somehow nobody in the Bush administration was mentioning that, nor anybody in the press, which seemed to indicate BushCo had some sort of problem with Powell even though he'd just lied for them.

Also, his former chief of staff has said some remarkably honest and cogent things since Powell left State, which I think makes some people like Powell better by association, even though it's not Powell who's said those things.

For the next nine months, he disappeared so definitively that Time magazine asked, on its cover of Sept. 10, 2001, "Where Is Colin Powell?"

'propagandizing the next generation'. 30% of this country are stark raving religious right wing antidemocratic lunatics their next generation may or may not carry on as they always have. The rest of the young'uns are just not this fearful, stupid or greedy. Why did so any of them turn out for Bernie's political revolution. In times past the young radicals got co-opted and became yuppie screw or get screwed cappies the Slick Willie supporters. They now are old and a lot of water has flowed under the crumbling bridges of the neoliberalism the 'greed is good' generation.

The next generation and the one after that have to now live in the wreckage these past generations have created. Man oh man do you underestimate people globally to see and know what a farce the shallow propagandists are pumping when they are faced with and have access to the internet and can see the carnage, death and destruction in real time. Never seen the USA not at war does not equate to thinking this is the 'inevitable' world as we find it' and accepting this as something patriotic or acceptable. you underestimate people globally whatever generation they are.

Yeah if Powell hadn't given away his reputation by giving that speech and resigned in protest like so many other military members did, then he would have the standing to make this comment.
Has anyone read the comments on the website?
I have no idea how people can think the way they do about what is happening in this country.
People are fixated on the 4 people who died at the Benghazi embassy but I don't think that they know that the Obama administration, Hillary's state department, the CIA and Stevens and others were taking Gaddafi's weapons out of there to give them to the moderate terrorists in Syria who Obama created to help him overthrow Assad. Including the sarin nerve gas that the terrorists used on the Syrian people which Obama tried to blame Assad for using it in order for him to invade Syria.
This is one comment from the website.

Hey Colin: Aren't you the same Republican guy who voted twice for OBAMA? You will have no shame now in voting for that lady who was sound sleeping when our dear diplomat was burning alive in a distant land. By the way, Trump may say that you got the job of the Chief of Army Staff & the Secretary of State because of your ethnicity. There is still time. Vote for Trump and he will not call you names or start tweeting on you.

is that if you kill hundreds of thousands of people in pointless wars you do so with a "sense of shame." Powell dutifully looked the other way in Vietnam, and then opened the door for, what, 600,000 or so lives wiped out in Iraq? But as long as he did it with a "sense of shame" (perhaps having no relation to his actions), it's all kewl.

I only care about "shame" because the lack of it indicates a possible sociopath on the loose. And it's always good to know as much as you can about which public figures are bonafide sociopaths, kinda like it's good to know, if you have a venomous snake in your house, where it is and how much you'd likely suffer from getting bitten.

Oh Hell, let me post what I'm talking about and you'll get a good example of why this election sucks so bad.

Did I Say The Worst?

Heckuva job.

David Cameron’s intervention in Libya was carried out with no proper intelligence analysis, drifted into an unannounced goal of regime change and shirked its moral responsibility to help reconstruct the country following the fall of Muammar Gaddafi, according to a scathing report by the foreign affairs select committee.

*
It concurs with Barack Obama’s assessment that the intervention was “a shitshow”, and repeats the US president’s claim that France and Britain lost interest in Libya after Gaddafi was overthrown. The findings are also likely to be seized on by Donald Trump, who has tried to undermine Hillary Clinton’s foreign policy credentials by repeatedly condemning her handling of the Libyan intervention in 2011, when she was US secretary of state.

Right after I posted that video of Hillary's it was deleted. THIS is why we're screwed. So called lefties like to rewrite history just like the right. And Hell, as big a skeezey sleezey as Cameron is, Clinton was right there pushing to destabilize Libya along with the rest of them.

Wait, I think I've got it--they define shame differently than we do.

What they really mean, translated out of Oligarchic, is "Trump talks bluntly, and out loud in front of cameras, about all the shit we do as a matter of course in the shadows."

From the Guccifer 2.0 emails he is at least accurate in his description of HRC in a 2014 email.

“I would rather not have to vote for her, although she is a friend I respect. A 70-year person with a long track record, unbridled ambition, greedy, not transformational, with a husband still dicking bimbos at home (according to the NYP).”

about your capacity, real or otherwise, to feel any “sense of shame” —

http://www.newyorker.com/news/news-desk/does-henry-kissinger-have-a-cons...

In Errol Morris’s remarkable 2003 documentary “The Fog of War,” we saw that McNamara, who was an octogenarian at the time, was a tormented man who was attempting to come to terms, unsuccessfully, with the immense moral burden of his actions as the U.S. defense secretary during Vietnam. McNamara had recently written a memoir in which he attempted to grapple with his legacy. Around that time, a journalist named Stephen Talbot interviewed McNamara, and then also secured an interview with Kissinger. As he later wrote about his initial meeting with Kissinger, “I told him I had just interviewed Robert McNamara in Washington. That got his attention. He stopped badgering me, and then he did an extraordinary thing. He began to cry. But no, not real tears. Before my eyes, Henry Kissinger was acting. ‘Boohoo, boohoo,’ Kissinger said, pretending to cry and rub his eyes. ‘He’s still beating his breast, right? Still feeling guilty.’ He spoke in a mocking, singsong voice and patted his heart for emphasis.”

None of them take responsibility for a thing they've done wrong.

I'd really like to see the evidence that anyone in national elected office today has a sense of shame. Even icon John Lewis claimed he saw Bill and Hillary Clinton marching for civil rights in the 1960s, but not Bernie Sanders (when Jim Crow was still law in Arkansas, Hillary was supporting Nixon and then Goldwater and the police chained Bernie to two black women).

Once media proves them wrong and they have no choice but to come clean, they do. That's not a sense of shame.
