Nina Turner weighing offer to join Green Party ticket

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Nina Turner, the Democratic former state senator from Cleveland who has emerged as a rallying figure for Bernie Sanders' disappointed supporters, said she is considering an offer to run for vice president on the Green Party's national ticket.

Massachusetts physician Jill Stein, the party's presumptive presidential nominee, reached out with the pitch, Turner told cleveland.com Sunday evening in a telephone interview.

The Green Party opens its convention Thursday in Houston. Turner would stand for nomination there if she agrees to be Stein's running mate. Her decision is expected in the coming days.

I wanted Sister Nina to be Bernie's running mate, and I hope she runs with the Green Party. "Nina Turner is the heiress to the Sander's Movement".

It's a tangible connection to the Sanders campaign outside of Cornell West, and it could be a really potent way to rally support for the Green Party among people who were either thinking of sitting out the election or are whose support with Clinton/Trump is soft. It's definitely a huge "F-U" to Hillary for what happened at the DNC, but it could get kind of awkward putting Bernie opposite his former surrogates.

However in the near to medium term (the next 2 - 8 years), barring some seismic and instantaneous shift in the American political landscape, political parties are a part of American political life. The Greens are as good as any other for disaffected would-be Democratic allies. The Democratic Party sure as hell isn't a place for anything but old, rich, white and somewhat socially tolerant republicans.

Man, I've spent more than five hours over the past couple of days trying to compose a perfect letter to Dr. Stein, asking her to consider one of ours, mentioning both Nina and Tulsi in every paragraph. I've been at least one step behind for this entire election, it seems.

Anyway, GREAT FUCKING NEWS!

The problem I have with Jill is that she is a boring speaker... but Nina, her and Brother Cornel can set the house on fire and if we are to push for peace and justice, Nina is the best spokesperson we have.

The Democrat Party is dead, and if electoral politics is to make ant sense at all, we need Nina speaking as a candidate.

With Sister Nina on the ticket, we may very well win a plurality in enough states to broker the election... and I do think Stein/Turner can win a plurality in more states than Clinton/Kaine. Johnson will make a giant sucking sound from Dumbf. Nina would make it a true four way race.

I hope that this helps Jill's polling numbers. Right now she is only polling around 3-4%.

There was another Stein is an anti vaxxer diary on LOF today.
As usual, the diarist cherry picked what she stated.
She is on record stating that vaccines have helped wipe out many diseases.
But again the diarist focused on the rest of the statement.

According to the most recent review of vaccination policies across the globe, mandatory vaccination that doesn’t allow for medical exemptions is practically unheard of. In most countries, people trust their regulatory agencies and have very high rates of vaccination through voluntary programs. In the US, however, regulatory agencies are routinely packed with corporate lobbyists and CEOs. So the foxes are guarding the chicken coop as usual in the US. So who wouldn’t be skeptical? I think dropping vaccinations rates that can and must be fixed in order to get at the vaccination issue: the widespread distrust of the medical-indsutrial [sic] complex.

She is correct. The drug companies basically write the reports about the drugs and the FDA rubber stamps them.
Look at the drugs Vioxx and Avandia. They were found to have caused heart attacks and pulled from the market, but not until thousands of people were killed.
Many drugs kill thousand of people each year, but the media doesn't report on this. Of course they don't.
Listen to the side effects of the new drugs on the market.
"Taking this drug may cause......., including death!
Crestor and the other cholesterol drugs cause muscle cramps because they are interfering with the enzymes of the liver and kidneys, and at the end of the drug add there is a disclaimer that states that taking this drug will not lower your chance of having a heart attack. Isn't that the reason for taking the cholesterol drugs?
Finally, look at the Gardisal vaccine. How many people are aware that it has caused deaths and injuries to the people who have received them?
After the vaccine for the first swine flu, many people were severely injured or died after receiving this vaccine. People were suing the drug companies so they lobbied congress and now people can't sue the drug companies for any injury or death caused by the vaccines.
They have to report it to the vaccine injury website...
Here are some of the examples that the Gardisal vaccine has caused.

Gardisal was only tested for 6 months (instead of the usual 4 years) and was then fast-tracked by the FDA at which time, Merck stopped testing and began to market it. There is no proof that Gardasil or Cervarix prevents HPV*, however it is know to exacerbate existing HPV infections. A known side-effect is sterility. Another side-effect is death. Serious allegations against the Gardasil and Cerverix vaccine trials affecting thousands of girls have been accepted by the Supreme Court of India. Some of the girls died. Some suffered serious adverse effects. Some of the girls developed autoimmune diseases that will require lifelong care. The manufacturers themselves acknowledged adverse events such as anaphylactic shock, seizures and paralysis, motor neuron disease, blood clots, eye, ear and vascular problems and even death, and problems affecting the nervous system, the immune system, the musculoskeletal system, the blood and lymphatic system, the respiratory system, the gastrointestinal system and the vascular system. In the PATH project, these adverse events were grossly under-reported and hidden. Records were falsified.

http://vaccine-injury.info/gardasil.cfm

So Stein is correct that people don't trust the drug companies. She has also questioned the vaccine schedule and she isn't alone. Other doctors have questioned why the vaccine schedule keeps increasing the timeline of vaccines and some doctors are advising parents to space them out longer.
But that doesn't mean that Jill is an anti vaxxer, it only means that she has concerns about the drug industry's ties to the FDA.
Remember when Maddow was a better journalist? She had many shows about how our regulatory agencies have been captured by the industries that they are supposed to be regulating.
She reported on one agency that the people in were caught at parties were they were snorting cocaine off of people's body parts.

I was already thinking that after what the Democratic establishment did to Nina Turner at the convention, Nina would be a fantastic VP candidate to pair with Jill. Nina and Tulsi Gabbard were the two Democrats who had to openly take some kind of hit to go to Bernie (Nina because she switched endorsements, Tulsi because she had to resign her post at the DNC), which really shows that in the end they were guided by their ethics. With so much corruption present in our system, there's honestly nothing more attractive in a candidate now than ethics. Clearly a lot of us had the same thought! I hope Nina accepts.

A match-up of Pence, Kaine, whoever the Libertarian nominee is, and Turner would be TV worth watching.

VT is one of their best chances to get electoral count votes. However, they are just now forming an organization ? WTF ??? Also, Jill Stein's event schedule is practically blank. As the presumptive nominee and a virtual unknown, they are doing things that should have been done months ago.

That said, maybe Nina will sign on ? It can only be help for all of us.

Which states allow it and under what conditions and how they would want Stein's name written for officialdom and to count.

Then they need to get poll workers who work at the approved boundaries with signs that say "How to Vote Green" with written instructions on Election Day.

I always thought that a cohesive, organized write-in campaign would be the way to get an off-brand candidate in office, and we might as well start practicing now.

They have seen what Hillbots can do and don't want it to happen to them. The Republicans will probably be watching the election process like hawks, at every step of the way. Some chicanery will probably happen but I don't expect a major theft of votes in this general election.

Sad that I'm depending on the Republicans, isn't it?

They met each other in person at The People's Convention, though I doubt they did more than exchange a few words as Nina turned over the mike to Jill. Jill was late arriving so she only caught the end of Nina's speech, but perhaps that gave Jill the idea to consider offering a spot on the Green ticket to Nina if Bernie, as expected, declined her offer.

Who knows?

I admire and support Nina Turner, she has been a powerful voice working Americans. I have concerns about adding another candidate without Federal government and foreign policy experience to the ticket. We need to allay the fears of the vast number of Americans who are fed up but afraid to turn the government over to two inexperienced candidates.

I would hope she remained a spokesperson for the campaign and we land a stabilizing VP nominee. Jon Huntsman would be a Grand Slam.
