Nina Turner weighing offer to join Green Party ticket
CLEVELAND, Ohio – Nina Turner, the Democratic former state senator from Cleveland who has emerged as a rallying figure for Bernie Sanders' disappointed supporters, said she is considering an offer to run for vice president on the Green Party's national ticket.
Massachusetts physician Jill Stein, the party's presumptive presidential nominee, reached out with the pitch, Turner told cleveland.com Sunday evening in a telephone interview.
The Green Party opens its convention Thursday in Houston. Turner would stand for nomination there if she agrees to be Stein's running mate. Her decision is expected in the coming days.

I wanted Sister Nina to be Bernie's running mate, and I hope she runs with the Green Party. "Nina Turner is the heiress to the Sander's Movement".

Wow, that would definitely attract more Bernie supporters.
It's a tangible connection to the Sanders campaign outside of Cornell West, and it could be a really potent way to rally support for the Green Party among people who were either thinking of sitting out the election or are whose support with Clinton/Trump is soft. It's definitely a huge "F-U" to Hillary for what happened at the DNC, but it could get kind of awkward putting Bernie opposite his former surrogates.
Bernie's support of Medusa will be vaporous--he won't be
negative toward Nina Turner.
No, it will furter marginalize Sanders
"Sanders was really just a bunch of old hippies after all." Greens are not a home for Millennials.
I'd argue that Millenials shouldn't look to political parties
for homes anyway.
However in the near to medium term (the next 2 - 8 years), barring some seismic and instantaneous shift in the American political landscape, political parties are a part of American political life. The Greens are as good as any other for disaffected would-be Democratic allies. The Democratic Party sure as hell isn't a place for anything but old, rich, white and somewhat socially tolerant republicans.
Nina has no future with the Dems
so she might as well demexit.
I hope she gets on the ticket.

What a waste of time.
Man, I've spent more than five hours over the past couple of days trying to compose a perfect letter to Dr. Stein, asking her to consider one of ours, mentioning both Nina and Tulsi in every paragraph. I've been at least one step behind for this entire election, it seems.
Anyway, GREAT FUCKING NEWS!
I think you should send your letter
To the both of them anyway. Who knows, maybe this is a trial balloon and they are waiting to see what the response is?

Fight On
The problem I have with Jill is that she is a boring speaker... but Nina, her and Brother Cornel can set the house on fire and if we are to push for peace and justice, Nina is the best spokesperson we have.
The Democrat Party is dead, and if electoral politics is to make ant sense at all, we need Nina speaking as a candidate.
With Sister Nina on the ticket, we may very well win a plurality in enough states to broker the election... and I do think Stein/Turner can win a plurality in more states than Clinton/Kaine. Johnson will make a giant sucking sound from Dumbf. Nina would make it a true four way race.
From the Light House.
At the very worst
I see Nina raising the polling so that Jill gets on the debate stage. And we know how much Her Heinous will like that.
Oh, and -- imagine a Nina / Tim Kaine VP debate?
Man, I really like this idea.
Great news?
I hope that this helps Jill's polling numbers. Right now she is only polling around 3-4%.
There was another Stein is an anti vaxxer diary on LOF today.
As usual, the diarist cherry picked what she stated.
She is on record stating that vaccines have helped wipe out many diseases.
But again the diarist focused on the rest of the statement.
She is correct. The drug companies basically write the reports about the drugs and the FDA rubber stamps them.
Look at the drugs Vioxx and Avandia. They were found to have caused heart attacks and pulled from the market, but not until thousands of people were killed.
Many drugs kill thousand of people each year, but the media doesn't report on this. Of course they don't.
Listen to the side effects of the new drugs on the market.
"Taking this drug may cause......., including death!
Crestor and the other cholesterol drugs cause muscle cramps because they are interfering with the enzymes of the liver and kidneys, and at the end of the drug add there is a disclaimer that states that taking this drug will not lower your chance of having a heart attack. Isn't that the reason for taking the cholesterol drugs?
Finally, look at the Gardisal vaccine. How many people are aware that it has caused deaths and injuries to the people who have received them?
After the vaccine for the first swine flu, many people were severely injured or died after receiving this vaccine. People were suing the drug companies so they lobbied congress and now people can't sue the drug companies for any injury or death caused by the vaccines.
They have to report it to the vaccine injury website...
Here are some of the examples that the Gardisal vaccine has caused.
http://vaccine-injury.info/gardasil.cfm
So Stein is correct that people don't trust the drug companies. She has also questioned the vaccine schedule and she isn't alone. Other doctors have questioned why the vaccine schedule keeps increasing the timeline of vaccines and some doctors are advising parents to space them out longer.
But that doesn't mean that Jill is an anti vaxxer, it only means that she has concerns about the drug industry's ties to the FDA.
Remember when Maddow was a better journalist? She had many shows about how our regulatory agencies have been captured by the industries that they are supposed to be regulating.
She reported on one agency that the people in were caught at parties were they were snorting cocaine off of people's body parts.
There were problems with running a campaign of Joy while committing a genocide? Who could have guessed?
Harris is unburdened of speaking going forward.
Just the next leg of the marginalize campaign
It's not even a shift in tactics, Clintonites will simply shift their attacks from Bernie to Jill without missing a beat.
I am so happy to hear this!
I was already thinking that after what the Democratic establishment did to Nina Turner at the convention, Nina would be a fantastic VP candidate to pair with Jill. Nina and Tulsi Gabbard were the two Democrats who had to openly take some kind of hit to go to Bernie (Nina because she switched endorsements, Tulsi because she had to resign her post at the DNC), which really shows that in the end they were guided by their ethics. With so much corruption present in our system, there's honestly nothing more attractive in a candidate now than ethics. Clearly a lot of us had the same thought! I hope Nina accepts.
Good news!
And if she accepts it will be Great News.
You've finally got a woman at the top of your ticket? We've had those since 2008 when Cynthia McKinney broke that glass ceiling, paving the way for Stein in 2012 and now whats-her-name. Now we're going to have two, yes two, terrific women on our ticket.

2012 Green Party ticket had two awesome women as well
Dr Stein and Cheri Honkala, a staunch fighter for the poor and marginalized. (Cheri has been arrested multiple times, including at this past DNC convention.)
This couid be a heck of a Green Party convention
It will be real, no fakery.
Beware the bullshit factories.
But will it be televised--and by whom?
TYT? A possibility...

Man, what a power ticket that
Man, what a power ticket that would be! Jill/Nina-2016!
So long, and thanks for all the fish
Imagine the Veep debate.
A match-up of Pence, Kaine, whoever the Libertarian nominee is, and Turner would be TV worth watching.
Oh, heck, I'd enjoy watching Johnson and Stein show up Clinton and Trump for the corporatist flakes they are.
Would be nice to see real, caring people, however "unpolished," trying to take back at least some of the power in this country instead of these . . . venal un-people we've had for too long.

That would be delicious!!

Libertarian VP candidate is William Weld...
...former MA Governor.
With Turner on the Green ticket, both "third-party" VP picks would be better-prepared debate performers than the Dem/Rep ones.
Weld used to be a Moderate Republican,
so I guess the Libertarian Party is where he bolted to when forced out of the R(abid) Party.
There is no justice. There can be no peace.
I am liking the sound of this
With SO MUCH at stake, I'd like to see a Stein/Turner ticket crash through the political theater and drive the dialogue to real issues.
God, would I like to be a fly on the wall of the Clinton campaigns Monday morning meeting. Ha!

Greens STILL on only 23 state ballots
Deadlines are fast approaching and they need help in getting signatures. Go to gp.org to check out upcoming state deadlines, and if you reside there, you can help.
24 + DC

That doesn't mean they don't still need a lot of help.
There is no justice. There can be no peace.
Are you counting NJ and VT?
Life is strong. I'm weak, but Life is strong.
They turned in enough signatures to get on the VT ballot
VT is one of their best chances to get electoral count votes. However, they are just now forming an organization ? WTF ??? Also, Jill Stein's event schedule is practically blank. As the presumptive nominee and a virtual unknown, they are doing things that should have been done months ago.
That said, maybe Nina will sign on ? It can only be help for all of us.
Greens need to publicize write-in rules for every state
Which states allow it and under what conditions and how they would want Stein's name written for officialdom and to count.
Then they need to get poll workers who work at the approved boundaries with signs that say "How to Vote Green" with written instructions on Election Day.
I always thought that a cohesive, organized write-in campaign would be the way to get an off-brand candidate in office, and we might as well start practicing now.
" “Human kindness has never weakened the stamina or softened the fiber of a free people. A nation does not have to be cruel to be tough.” FDR "
On FB, US state mappy-thing indicates where Greens are on-ballot
states (fewer now) to get signatures and most of the rest are covered by write-ins. Now up to honest vote tabulation.

My hope for honest vote counting rests with the Republicans.
They have seen what Hillbots can do and don't want it to happen to them. The Republicans will probably be watching the election process like hawks, at every step of the way. Some chicanery will probably happen but I don't expect a major theft of votes in this general election.
Sad that I'm depending on the Republicans, isn't it?
Life is strong. I'm weak, but Life is strong.
A brawl is more likely.
Ds and Rs will battle over election fraud tactics, with the actual voters trampled underfoot. May the best computer program win!
I hope it comes to pass
They met each other in person at The People's Convention, though I doubt they did more than exchange a few words as Nina turned over the mike to Jill. Jill was late arriving so she only caught the end of Nina's speech, but perhaps that gave Jill the idea to consider offering a spot on the Green ticket to Nina if Bernie, as expected, declined her offer.
Who knows?

Nina a great choice for VP
As a former Dem. recently moved to Green, I believe Nina would make it it great ticket and help to build the Green party. For me, it is no longer about winning this election, our next Pres will likely be the Clinton machine, it is about building a new party for the future.
Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!
I have been pestering both women with messages about setting up a Stein/Turner ticket. Obviously, it didn't hurt.
And Cleveland media would cover every little step of the campaign!
Excuse me. I gotta go and tell each of them how pleased I am to hear this.

btw, I just read that folks in Missouri
will turn in their signatures today. Good! I was a bit concerned about that state.
Also, I've been counting GA as being on our side but that one's a little more complicated and I might be wrong.
My count is 28 states. YMMV.

I admire and support Nina
I admire and support Nina Turner, she has been a powerful voice working Americans. I have concerns about adding another candidate without Federal government and foreign policy experience to the ticket. We need to allay the fears of the vast number of Americans who are fed up but afraid to turn the government over to two inexperienced candidates.
I would hope she remained a spokesperson for the campaign and we land a stabilizing VP nominee. Jon Huntsman would be a Grand Slam.
