Some Advice to Dems: Stop Whinging Continuously About Trump

I have said this for awhile now, it's free publicity and his supporters will not be persuaded to join you no matter what you say. The MSM loves Trump's crazy stuff, they will report everything he says so let people make up their own damn minds.

  • Scary, Racist, Sexist, Bigoted Trump!
  • World ending Trump!
  • Big Red Nuclear Button Trump!
  • Did you see/hear Trump's latest horror show!

Such a waste of effort if you ask me.

You are giving the impression that the only thing that the Democratic Party stands for is:

  • Not Trump

.
What I am hearing is:

  • We aint got nothing, just say no to Trump.

Take Bernie's example speak about things that matter and mean something to independents.

  • Income Inequality
  • Universal Health Care
  • Protecting and improving Social Security
  • Demilitarizing the Police and ending the us against them mentality.
  • Black Lives Matter and that is strongly tied to income inequality and access to equal eduction.
  • Ending Wars [avoiding the militaristic and xenophobic feel of your convention would have been a good start]
  • Liveable wages $15/h minimum, paid holidays, paid maternal and paternal leave etc.
  • Affordable education and equal access to good education, deghettoization of education.
  • Sensible and real gun control.
  • Climate change and The Green Economy and what a benefit that will be to real well paid jobs.
  • Jobs, jobs, jobs and good ones at that.
  • Stop pandering to the lobbyists, stop taking their money if you are serious about campaign finance reform. Break the plates at the silver service dinners.

For god's sake stop comparing yourselves to Trump, it does not convince anyone and:

  • It's Her Turn
  • She is with us
  • She is not Trump

Do not cut the ice.

Forget Trump; he is his own worst enemy.

You have at least 40% of the population open to being persuaded [the unaffiliated and those that do not vote] you don't need ex-Republicans or their policies.

If not for Hillary than at least for the down ballot candidates who might feel the backlash more than the figurehead, remember congress is about as popular as covering your head with slugs.

  • Stop the mindless fucking chants of #USA #USA #USA, leave that to the brain dead.
  • Stop calling those on the left that dare to not follow without demanding that questions are answered: Dead Enders.
  • Stop pointing at those of us on the left and accusing us of White Privilege whenever we disagree.
  • Stop blaming Russia for your own DNC's total failure and the hacking of unsecure servers.
  • Stop pardoning Dems for exactly the same things we used to attack Republicans about under G W Bush and Reagan

Go On

Give it a go

It is embarrassing to see people accusing Trump of everything the DNC has already been doing. It's even more ridiculous that the DNC is not only deflecting the conversation to who leaked the emails, rather than what's in them, but is tying Trump to Putin in a way that only a child would believe.

If you actually do a side by side comparison about policy Clinton ends up either losing or in a tie. And the only reason it'd come out as a tie is because she is better at political non-speak than Trump and/or because seemingly everybody loves putting their thumb on the scales for Hillary.

In any war a whole lot of people die for little if any reason - beyond enriching a few already rich pricks. And of those killed a whole lot are women, children, and everybody else (who apparently aren't lamented?). Given that she has played major roles in starting the Iraq war, the Libyan war, the current Syrian war, and other 'military actions' around the globe...I don't think there are enough flowery words to make up for that.

The following article contains some interesting info regarding recent antics of that moral paragon, Bill Clinton.

Bill Clinton was frequent flier on pedophile’s private jet ‘Lolita Express’

Apparently Jeffrey Epstein's plane had a bed where Jeff and his pals engaged in group sex with underage girls as young as 12. After a criminal investigation, Epstein ultimately got an unbelievably generous deal whereby he was allowed to plead guilty to a single count of soliciting an underage "prostitute", and served 13 months in prison. He's now a registered sex offender.

According to the article, "The arrangement saw authorities agree not to press any criminal charges against 'any potential co-conspirators of Epstein.'"

Also notable is that Bill ditched his Secret Service detail before joining these flights on at least five occasions.

But hey, Donald Trump - foul mouth, bad manners so... vote Hillary!

OK, Mouselander et al, time to call you out on this, as gently as I can, given my current emotional state (blind, barely-directed, VERY long-term, rabid political rage), and recent alcohol consumption.

IF we are going to bring up allegations of Bill Clinton's criminal sexual behavior vis-a-vis convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, wouldn't it be fair to mention that Donald Trump was ALSO one of Jeffrey's buds? -That he ALSO was a guest on the "Lolita Express", more than once? -That Epstein's leaked "little black book" had no fewer than 14 phone numbers for Trump? -That there is a Federal Court case pending by a woman alleging that Trump, with Epstein's assistance, brutally raped her when she was only 13 years of age?

But I'll just quote The Donald on the subject of Epstein, from an interview in New York magazine:

“I’ve known Jeff for fifteen years. Terrific guy,” Trump booms from a speakerphone. “He’s a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side. No doubt about it — Jeffrey enjoys his social life.”

NOW THAT'S HARDLY CREEPY AT ALL, IS IT?

Why aren't we talking about the fact that Trump and Slick Willy were golfing buddies, or that the Clintons were guests at his wedding? Has everybody here already forgotten Trump defending his Presidential golf buddy against charges of sexual misconduct? Could we please remember how to say OLIGARCHY? There is barely a millimeter of distance between the two criminal fuck-heads we have been presented with as "obvious choices".

I have this silly, old-fashioned notion for all of you that are still agonizing over the Trump-vs.-Clinton "dilemma":

Vote for a candidate that is free of PENDING FELONY CRIMINAL CHARGES. 'K?

I know, too radical. But-

Dr. Jill Stein qualifies! I don't even know that much about her, except that she HAS been arrested -- for protesting, three times, all of them political, and that she's even to the Left of Bernie, who has also been arrested over political protest. I'm OK with that. Notice how you can describe both of these SOCIALISTS' shocking criminal pasts without ONCE using the words "rape" or "13-year-olds"?

The Dems had their chance to elect a decent, honorable, honest centrist, and fucked it up. Now they can pay the price.

But Trump is part of their little skeevy, connected, nearly-un-prosecutable clan, and he needs to pay the price, too.

The media sycophants can, and will, keep playing their "Trump - The Greatness" recording all they want, where he's a savvy author (ghost-written) and entrepreneur (with Daddy's money and backing), and successful businessman (he bankrupted a CASINO, for fuck's sake!), and where he really wouldn't be THAT bad of a President. -Better than HRC! -Like that's a distinction worth noting, OR that there's any proof of that assertion.

But I find it sickly bizarre, and suspicious, that Slick Willy rouses those pedo / rapist accusations, while Trump skates blithely by. They could find trenches full of dead children in Trump's back yard, and there would still be media talking heads, and even normal people, 'splaining it away for me. I expect that from the major (i.e. conservative) networks. But not from here. It is a LOT more than "foul mouth, bad manners". Please do not mistake the symptom for the disease.

I understand if you must hate one of these two lying, fascist, racist, anti-Labor, pseudo-Christian, pro-police-state, pro-billionaire, chicken-hawk demons more than the other. But I would thank you for not pretending or implying that the other one is not ALSO a lying, fascist, racist, anti-Labor, pseudo-Christian, pro-police-state, pro-billionaire, chicken-hawk demon.

I understand the problem - for the first time in my life, I find I just don't have enough righteous hatred to go around. So I try to hate both selections equally, even if, sadly, that means I can't give either of them the full measure of hatred they deserve. We're only human. We do what we can.

But if we all hate both of them TOGETHER, we could have a Third Party, AND a woman for President...

The Political Compass

Are the fat cat vulgarian and the hawkish pin-up girl of Wall Street really the finest minds and noblest characters that America could come up with for its highest office? Identity politics will, again, triumph. We’ve had a black leader. Now it will be cool to have a woman, right? Thinking progressives, however, might reflect on the uncomfortable truth that a President Trump would be relentlessly scrutinised, criticised and checked not only by the Democrats, but also by many in his own party. Conversely, a Democratic president, ultimately more different in style than substance, would implement a largely Republican agenda in all but name and get a relatively easy ride. Haven't the last eight years of neo-conservatism and Democratic deference brought the country too close already to a one-party state masquerading as a two-party state?

the election fraud in the Democratic primaries as something of no consequence.

Well, I can understand it — understand it as the Democrats’ tacit surrender to, and embracing of, the “faith-based” Rove–Luntz–Leo Strauss ideology that they once found so repellent during the Bush-Cheney administration.

Remember this?

The aide [later said to be Karl Rove] said that guys like me were "in what we call the reality-based community," which he defined as people who "believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality." ... "That's not the way the world really works anymore," he continued. "We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that reality—judiciously, as you will—we'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors…and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do."

Trump’s success seems to have led or forced the GOP of 2016 to abandon some of the Rove–Luntz–Leo Strauss neocon philosophy — just in time for the Democrats to adopt it for their own.

See how they expect us to view it now? The Hillary “empire,” in boldly stealing the election, “created their own reality.” In their view, the “reality-based” Bernie backers have now been “left to just study” that theft as a fait accompli, with no recourse.

That’s why I say, don’t vote for Hillary. To vote for Hillary now means blessing her “empire” and its “new realities” — i.e., accepting with no further protest her grab for supreme power, founded on lies.

While I don't want to see this place turn into the equivalent of the front page at GOS, I think these discussions and conversations are important in that they may help either prevent others from backsliding into accepting lessor evilisim or aid in getting others to reject it.

The other reason is I really don't want to create an atmosphere where people have to fear posting what is on their mind either, and lets face it, both Trump and Clinton are going to be on a lot of our minds for some time.

There is plenty of space on the internet though so I think there is room for it, but I DO agree 1000% that we also have to avoid getting so sucked into this kind of discussion that we neglect the work that needs to be done.

It's a difficult question to answer to be sure, but my default choice is, "When in doubt err on the side of speech."

There is very little air left in the various media. We need to somehow start talking about what we want without reference to the two maniacs in chief. What we want has broad appeal so it has a chance. I don't know how to do that but it is very necessary.

Lately HRH Hillary Rodham Clinton has been putting out "decency" as an attack on Trump, suggesting he has disqualifying character flaws. Like all the best propaganda it's true, and obviously aimed at right-wingers especially female. Ties in with the "OMG the children are watching" ad Hillary is running.

They accuse Trump of dissing the Khan family, after Mr. Khan spoke at the DNC and insultingly asked if Trump had ever read the Constitution. Of course Trump has gotten away with so much already it's hard to know if any accusations will stick.

Another Hillary talking point has to do with Trump's lack of commander-in-chief cred, which is probably aimed at "security moms" and neocons. If I were Trump I would again bring up the futility and mind-blowing costs of unwinnable wars halfway around the world. Peaceful relations with Russia would also pay dividends, but they are smearing him as a pal of Putin so he probably won't go there. Hillary is actually proposing that our planes engage in dogfights with Russian aircraft over Syria.

A third talking point is the claim that Hillary’s economic proposals would most likely result in more jobs, while Trump’s ideas would bring on a downturn. Most likely the now-overdue recession is coming no matter what, and the question I want answered is how can we save the middle class from taking another huge hit?

"We've done the impossible, and that makes us mighty."

Dems are starting to define themselves by opposing the position of their rivals.
It's what Republicans did from the 1960's until Trump.

"I’m a human being, first and foremost, and as such I’m for whoever and whatever benefits humanity as a whole.” —Malcolm X

it best sums up the discussion that 'OMG Trump' is not a convincing campaign.
