My Reaction to the Bernie and Hillary Show in NH Today

It's in a brief (for me) video on my YouTube channel:

Ask yourself one question. After all we've seen from the Clinton campaign and the Dnc to steal this election, do you trust Hillary Clinton to follow through on anything she said today?

Bernie is making us take over now. $hrill has got some very serious POTUS/Security issues. POTUS controls our nuclear arsenal. Ironically, the citizens control it by their votes. The Bernster pulled back the curtain to expose how bad it's gotten since Rayguns/Reagan. $hrill gets elected, she has access to the full military arsenal. $hrill vs. tRump. Pick one. No thank you.

This fight is truly about the future of humanity, the future of Planet Earth, and thus it is far, far bigger than any one individual. I am genuinely grateful to Bernie for all his good work - now it's time to turn the page and move on.

I just read the email from Bernie as well. And, it made me squeeze back tears as well. I will never vote for Hillary, and was pleased that Sanders offered no praise for Clinton, other than "better than Trump". I think that is rather pointed, and his commitment to actively campaign for progressive minded individuals gives me hope that I will not have to puke and watch Bernie lick her jack boots in campaign appearances. Oh, God, I hope I don't have to experience him campaigning for her. We watched Warren compromise herself...please, please, please don't go there Bernie.

The Clintons appeared determined to have Bernie endorse her before the convention to prevent a brokered convention. They are all about power. Nothing else matters to them. What did Obama tell him? Harry Reid?

http://www.nytimes.com/2016/06/10/us/politics/bernie-sanders-obama-washi...

Bernie Sanders Meets President Obama and Pledges to Work to Defeat Donald Trump By ALAN RAPPEPORT and JULIE HIRSCHFELD DAVISJUNE 9, 2016

Mr. Sanders, who requested the meeting with the president, pulled into the White House grounds at 10:56 a.m. after stopping at a nearby Peet’s Coffee for a scone. Mr. Obama and Mr. Sanders strolled down the colonnade next to the Rose Garden on their way into the Oval Office, chatting inaudibly and grinning broadly. Nearby, a thick line of cameras and cluster of microphones were assembled in the driveway outside the West Wing, where journalists peppered the Vermont senator with questions.

Mr. Obama was trying to negotiate, however gently, with him to exit the Democratic race without inflicting damage on efforts to unite the party.

“My hope is, is that over the next couple of weeks, we’re able to pull things together,” Mr. Obama said during a taping of an appearance on the “Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” on Wednesday in New York. “There’s a natural process of everybody recognizing that this is not about any individual.”

Briefly posing for photographers before his meeting in the Capitol with Senator Harry Reid, the minority leader, Mr. Sanders ignored three questions about Mr. Obama’s endorsement of Mrs. Clinton.

His face flushed, Mr. Sanders did not speak at all. But Mr. Reid gently scolded the assembled journalists for asking questions at what was supposed to be just a photo opportunity.

After his meeting with Reid, Mr. Sanders made a quick exit through a back hall on his way to meet with Senator Chuck Schumer of New York. He was also scheduled to meet with Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr.

Bernie always said he'd support Hill if she won. He voted for Bill - though publicly stated he really couldn't stand the guy, etc....

He wants a Dem to be president, and has always held that position.

Show the guy some modicum of respect. No one else has accomplished what he has, even if that isn't enough.

I think he's playing it the way he thinks is right. He didn't tell us all to vote for Clinton. He only said Trump can't be allowed to gain the Presidency. I disagree with his assessment of the political calculus, but I can't say he's wrong, only that I disagree.

Moreover he has said, explicitly, he can't deliver the votes of his supporters. Clinton will either convince the people who voted for him or she won't. He knows each of us will make up our own mind. I'm not going to second-guess his decision.

No one else has accomplished what he has, even if that isn't enough.

What he has accomplished I never thought would be accomplished. He has exposed the festering corruption at the heart of our political system in a way that only the willfully ignorant will be able to ignore. I give him mad props for that alone. I think he lit a fire in the belly of a lot of people, and it won't be easily quenched.

2. All of the disappointed and disillusioned young people that trusted him and saw him as a role model. 3. If the issues were important enough for him to challenge her, then they are still important enough for him to fight for them to the bitter end - especially since she stole our election, is corrupt and a liar, is absolutely not what the country needs, and everyone hates her and Trump.

I am disappointed that he quit. We needed a revolutionary. Someone who would rather die on their feet than live on their knees. Apparently he isn't it.

Forever forward
BERNIE SANDERS·TUESDAY, JULY 12, 2016
I am writing you today to express my deep pride in the movement – the political revolution – you and I have created together over the last 15 months. When we began this historic campaign, we were considered fringe players by the political, economic and media establishment. Well, we proved them wrong.
We showed that the American people support a bold, progressive agenda that takes on the billionaire class, that fights for racial, social, economic and environmental justice and that seeks to create a government that works for all of us and not just the big campaign donors.
We mobilized over 13 million voters across the country. We won 23 Democratic primary and caucus contests. We had literally hundreds of thousands of volunteers across the country. And we showed – in a way that can change politics in America forever – that you can run a competitive national grassroots campaign without begging millionaires and billionaires for campaign contributions.
Most importantly, we elevated the critical issues facing our country – issues the establishment has pushed under the rug for too long. We focused attention on the grotesque level of income and wealth inequality in this country and the importance of breaking up the large banks who brought our economy to the brink of collapse. We exposed our horrendous trade policies, our broken criminal justice system, and our people's lack of access to affordable health care and higher education. We fought aggressively to address the crisis of climate change, the need for real comprehensive immigration reform, the importance of developing a foreign policy that values diplomacy over war, and so much more.
We have shown throughout this election that these are issues that are important to voters and that progressive solutions energize people in the fight for real change. What we have accomplished so far is historic – but our work is far from over.
This movement of ours – this political revolution – must continue. We cannot let all of the momentum we have achieved in the fight to transform America be lost. We will never stop fighting for what is right.
It is true that in terms of winning the Democratic nomination, we did come up short. But this election was never about me or any candidate. It was about the powerful coming together of millions of people to take their country back from the billionaire class. That was the strength of our campaign and it will be the strength of our movement going forward in the months and years ahead.
In the coming weeks, I will be announcing the creation of successor organizations to carry on the struggle that we have been a part of these past 15 months. I hope you will continue to be involved in fighting to transform America. Our goal will be to advance the progressive agenda that we believe in and to elect like-minded candidates at the federal, state and local levels who are committed to accomplishing our goals.
In terms of the presidential election this November, there is no doubt that the election of Donald Trump as president would be a devastating blow to all that we are fighting for. His openly bigoted and pro-billionaire campaign could precipitate the same decades-long rightward shift in American politics that happened after the election of Ronald Reagan in 1980. That rightward shift after Reagan’s election infected not just politics as a whole but led to the ascendancy of the corporatist wing of the Democratic Party – an era from which we are still recovering.
I cannot in good conscience let that happen.
To have all of the work we have done in elevating our progressive ideals be dashed away by a complete Republican takeover of Washington – a takeover headed by a candidate that demonizes Latinos, Muslims, women, African Americans, veterans, and others – would be unthinkable.
Today, I endorsed Hillary Clinton to be our next president. I know that some of you will be disappointed with that decision. But I believe that, at this moment, our country, our values, and our common vision for a transformed America, are best served by the defeat of Donald Trump and the election of Hillary Clinton.
You should know that in the weeks since the last primary, both campaigns have worked together in good faith to bridge some of the policy issues that divided us during the election. Did we come to agreement on everything? Of course not. But we made important steps forward.
Hillary Clinton released a debt free college plan that we developed together which now includes free tuition at public colleges and universities for working families. This was a major part of our campaign’s agenda and a proposal that, if enacted into law, would revolutionize higher education in this country.
Secretary Clinton has also publicly committed to massive investments in health care for communities across this country that will increase primary care, including mental health care, dental care, and low-cost prescription drug access for an additional 25 million people. Importantly, she has also endorsed the enactment of a so-called public option to allow everyone in this country to participate in a public insurance program. This idea was killed by the insurance industry during consideration of President Obama’s health care program.
During the Democratic platform proceedings in St. Louis and Orlando, we were victorious in including amendments to make it a clear priority of the Democratic Party to fight for a $15 an hour federal minimum wage, expand Social Security, abolish the death penalty, put a price on carbon, establish a path toward the legalization of marijuana, enact major criminal justice reforms, pass comprehensive immigration reform, end for-profit prisons and detention facilities, break up too-big-to-fail banks and create a 21st century Glass-Steagall Act, close loopholes that allow big companies to avoid taxes by stashing their cash in offshore tax havens and use that revenue to rebuild America, approve the most expansive agenda ever for protecting Native American rights and so much more.
All of these progressive policies were at the heart of our campaign. The truth is our movement is responsible for the most progressive Democratic platform in the history of our country. All of that is the direct result of the work that our members of the platform committee did in the meetings and that you have been doing over the last 15 months.
But none of these initiatives will happen if we do not elect a Democratic president in November. None! In fact, we will go backward. We must elect the Democratic nominee in November and progressive Democrats up and down the ballot so that we ensure that these policy commitments can advance.
It is extremely important that we keep our movement together, that we hold public officials accountable and that we elect progressive candidates to office at the federal, state, and local level who will stand with us.
As part of that effort, we still have a tremendous amount of work left to do in the Democratic Rules Committee that will be meeting in the coming weeks. We have to enact the kinds of reforms to the Democratic Party and to the electoral process that will provide us the tools to elect progressive candidates, to allow new voices and new energy into the Party, and to break up the excessive power that the economic and political elites in the Party currently have. As with our fights on the platform committee, that will only be possible if we stand together.
You should know that I intend to be actively campaigning throughout this election season to elect candidates who will stand by our agenda. I hope to see many of you at events from coast to coast.
In conclusion, I again want to express my pride in what we have accomplished together over the last year. But so much more must be done to make our vision a reality. Now more than ever our country needs our movement – our political revolution. As you have throughout this historic campaign, I ask for your ongoing support as we continue through the fall and beyond.
On a personal note, I cannot say with words how appreciative Jane and I are of the kindness, dedication and love we experienced from so many people across the country. We are deeply touched by it and will never, ever forget it.
Please let me know that you will stand with me to defeat Donald Trump, and to elect candidates who will stand by our agenda as part of the future of our political revolution. Add your name now.
Forever committed, forever fighting, forever forward,
Bernie Sanders

If you’re interested in more than just electing a president, we need your help.

I do not believe one letter of anything you write about HilLIARy Rodham Clinton. She will pay lip service to your ideas as long as they are needed (i.e. until the election) and then will flush them down the toilet without a second thought and govern like a Total Profiteer.

There is no justice. There can be no peace.

She ran a scorched earth campaign. She cannot do that and expect people to support her even if Bernie feels this is the action he needs to take.

The logic of getting further with the Dems than the GOP sounds good until you look at Obama past and present. Bernie should be running with Stein. This is the year to muscle forward, not bide "incremental change".

Orwell was an optimist

If you believe congress can be pushed to the left, why does it matter whether Trump or Hillary is in office? They're both liars, both represent the wealthy and powerful, what's the difference? Would Trump really be all that different?

What Trump in the White House would do however that Clinton wouldn't, is give congress someone to rail against. A bad decision by Clinton (invading yet another country for instance) would be met with silence by Democrats in congress. Trump will be fought every step of the way.

I'm firmly convinced that Hillary will be worse for this country in the long term than Trump. Reward corruption now, don't be surprised if you get more corruption next time as well.

Both Trump and Hillary are dangerous, but in different ways. Trump could easily refuse to follow the Constitution. He could easily declare himself King of the World. Hillary will start wars, she will make a lot of bad decisions; however, Trump is a bigger danger by far in my opinion.

I haven't made a decision about who I will vote for. I might vote Green; I might write in.

That depends on what happens in the coming months.

Many of the posts here scare me as much as Trump scares me. I understand how fed up many of you are. I am too. After half a century of fighting the man, all that seems to happen is that we move closer to fascism.

Trump is, at the very least, a proto fascist. If we beat him back, another will rise to take his place. If he becomes President, I will be terrified every waking and sleeping moment.

I trust Bernie's instincts. He has done the impossible even getting to the Senate as an avowed Socialist. He has broken many, many barriers in the past 15 months.

The Clinton's political lies are not any worse than all the rest of the political lies I have witnessed.

I'll take my cue from Bernie for now. We must stop Trump at all costs. We can fight Hillary later.

If she looks certain to win, I will vote Green probably. If it is close, I think I will have to vote for her. That doesn't mean Bernie's movement gets dismantled. It is up to us to keep it going.

scare me. It's her agenda, policy and who and what she works for. She has declared herself queen and does not follow the constitution or any rule of law. As Nancy said the constitution is an unenforceable piece of paper. She is a fascist and a psycho killer to boot. FDR had a good point about fear. After decades of fear being pumped out starting with the Bushies I just can't get too whipped up or terrified about Trump, 'terrist's who are gonna kill my family' or bankster's creating the end of the world. Hillary and the Democratic party are complicit with the RW.

This is not voting it's extortion and after you vote out of fear of other they turn around and implement the same damn things you were scared of. Victories for compromise. Who are they compromising with hummm... ? I find The Clinton's way more terrifying to the world and human everywhere then The Hairball. I also find a criminal candidate who kisses Kissinger to be unacceptable. Maybe if you let go of your fear you could find the courage to take a good look at what the Clinton's and the Democratic party is about. I voted for Jill Stein in 2012. I did not fall for 'better then the Mormon'. Every election they sing this song about the most important ever we need to stop which ever RW lunatic is running. This time around we have two RW lunatics running. Time to say enough.

From Chris Hedges: Con vs.Con
http://www.truthdig.com/report/item/con_vs_con_20160619

"The Clintons and the Democratic Party establishment are banking that the liberal class will surrender once again to corporate power and genuflect before neoliberal ideology. Bernie Sanders will be trotted out, like a chastened sheepdog, to coax his followers back into the holding pen. The moral outrage of his supporters over Wall Street crimes, wholesale state surveillance, the evisceration of civil liberties, the failure to halt the devastation of the ecosystem, endless war, cuts to Social Security and austerity, will, the Democratic Party elites expect, airily evaporate. They may not be wrong. Given the history of the liberal class, they are probably right."

Orwell was an optimist

shaharazade's picture

We here in Oregon did luck out with Merkley but the weasel Wydon still runs and wins unopposed. Our rep. in the house, Blumenhauer is useless and folds like a cheap tent. I joined and worked for my county party, The Multnomah County Democrat's starting in 2000 until 2007-8. I was a Deaniac and was recruited to the party be a Green after Bush was selected

I quit as all the so called progressive Dems. we got elected city state and national turned out to be corrupt bent assholes in the pocket. Our governor the corrupt Kitzhaber had to resign for his corrupt pay to play. First thing he said once elected was 'Oregon is Open for Business'. He then proceded to ship coal down the river and via the rails to send to China. Our 'Democratic' mayor a former tax dogging Republican is busy demolishing Portland under the guise of growth it's environmental. Our city and state is solid Democratic but they are all in the bag. I'm now working hard to get them out of office.

The trouble is the DNC, the DCCC and the Democratic party machine will not allow real progressives to get any funding or traction. If you do manage to get progressives elected to congress they too kiss the ring and refuse to do anything but be the symbolic left wing. There is no left, left. All we get are pols who run under the banner of progressive. Look at Sherod Brown or even that ex-Republican Elisabeth Warren. Take off your progressive glasses and really look at what they do once elected. The Democratic party is beyond redemption both nationally and down ballot.

In 2012 I voted for Stein and then with the exception of Merkley voted for every Green or socialist that was on the ballot. So no if I will not be conned into working for any Democratic candidates down ticket. How will it help when the Democrat's you elect to congress blow off the majority the voters give them and proceed to say 60=a majority. No thanks been there done that. Like Bernie did today, they all cave when push comes to shove. My energy this election cycle is getting the odious so called progressives like Steve Novic in our city out. Our new mayor elect is another ex Republican who while more personable then Charlie Hales is also in the bag to the 'developers', realtor's and foreign investors.

Down or up ticket the Democratic party sucks. Enough is Enough. I'm done expecting that this party has any intention on any level to do anything except keeping the power right where it is. It's certainly not with us and is all about them. They may rule the world but they will never get my vote again. I've had enough with mitigating the damage done by both these so called party's. They are complicit and they mean all humans and the planet harm.

Suddenly, she needs Bernie voters.
Suddenly, she still a neolib.
Suddenly, she's Bernie's best bud, embracing everything he values.

Not so suddenly, she's STILL not getting my vote.

Trump may be bad news, but a vote for Hillary is tacit approval of Clintonian politics. Lies, treachery, illegal behavior. She'll go running back to the right on November 9th.

Bernie always said he'd support the Dem nominee.

I've never seen such silliness as those who are acting either betrayed or surprised about this. That was always part of the Bernie package. And while I might disagree with him, to agree with Trumps' take on Bernie is foolish at best.

to come to his senses and tell the lying cheat to go pound sand. That since she cheated him, slandered him, and tried to demean his record and his life's work every time she opened her mouth, he owed her NOT ONE DAMN THING. And then there were the few that said it was all 'media' lies, even though it was Sanders himself who was saying he would eventually endorse and would vote for her. But talking about it was bringing down 'morale'. (How's 'morale' is after this shit show?) And what in the world are we going to tell the young people who were so excited and joined Sanderss' campaign because they absolutely did not want another Clinton in office. They fully understand how Bill Clinton's 'agenda' ensured that they would never have the chance to live a better life than their parents, that they probably will be sleeping in Mommy and Daddy's basement for a long long time. I cannot understand the idea that after speaking about the problems and the poverty and the racism that stemmed directly from the tenure of her husband, he now supports the wife who did everything to push that hateful and punishing agenda through. Welfare reform, 'bringing violent predators to heel' (her own words), pushing NAFTA up our asses, etc.

We really need to get our shit together now. This 'announcement' has changed everything and if Clinton or Sanders thinks those pathetic little scraps that the platform committee threw Progressives is worth voting for another freaking Clinton, they're BOTH nuts.

I think you could grab a homeless person off the street and put them in the Oval Office and they'd do a better job than the scum we keep electing.

Bernie himself still speaks for and is fighting for progressive causes, even if he's been strong-armed into conceding, and I'm happy to hear what he has to say.

But as soon as he conceded, I had to cancel the recurring contributions, because I can't risk one single dollar of my hard-earned money benefiting Clinton. The thought is nauseating.

They can go fuck themselves. I don't hate Sanders, I am not giving up on the "revolution" but I am tired of this game. Also, I am mad over my hair. You see, I used to have my hair cut every six weeks but for more than a year gave the money I would have spent on my hair to Sanders. First time ever I have contributed to a political campaign. And all I have wanted since the NY primary is for him to take it all the way to the convention. Now I am here crying and with bad hair to boot, Don King type of bad hair. Thank dog I sill got my mani-pedis. (I am olnly half joking.)

Listening to Alejandro Escovedo. It's all I can think to do and hope my DH, who has that singer/songwriter kind of voice sings with him.

He plays too, but hasn't much in the last coupe of years. I miss his music.

the Dem Party Platform at the convention. She's an NBC correspondent.

IOW, demanding further changes to the Platform (at the Convention) is now off-the-table.

A few minutes later, heard on MSNBC that Bernie has yet to suspend his campaign. (Think that helps him settle his bills.)

Also, there is talk of him having a roll call vote--strictly symbolic--at the convention.

Think FSC had one, didn't she? (We didn't watch.)

FWIW.

The current working assumption appears to be that our Shroedinger's Cat system is still alive. But what if we all suspect it's not, and the real problem is we just can't bring ourselves to open the box?

I love Bernie!!!! Of course I'm not happy about this either. And I can say with 1000% certainty I will never vote for her. I think a lot is going to happen between now and the convention. ( false hope, maybe! ). The rupubs are not going to let up on the emails, there's a new letter going to the FBI to investigate the Foundation, no one can predict if there will be any new "leaks" and I doubt her numbers will rise enough to make a difference. Way out an a limb here, maybe this is what.the repubs have been waiting for to dump Trump. They are terrified of Bernie, so they now have her. Well good luck Dems!! You're going to need all you can get, and more.
