Florida Rep Corrine Brown indicted on fraud and corruption charges

Source

This is great news. First this is good because it shows that at least some pols will be held accountable for their bad behavior. Second, because she's an obstacle to progress in general.

She fought very hard against Florida's "Fair Districts" amendments and leveled accusations of racism against anybody who wanted them. It was a disgusting campaign and transparently an effort to maintain her own power. I always suspected after that campaign that she was also doing something underhanded and corrupt, like every other politician in Florida.

If only this sort of thing could happen to other politicians who deserve it.

most representatives. That's why most insist on the status quo.

But her crimes don't negate all the carrying on she did during the 2000 mess in FL. She represented one of the counties that was selected for recount. And she complained loudly about her constituents being disenfranchised. She's quite a fighter. This is an unfortunate turn of events.

the amendments: by calling a bunch of folks racist.

Also, gerrymandering disenfranchises folks every election. Her work in 2000 was a) self-serving and b) negated by her efforts against FD.

I was applauding her actions during the aftermath of the 2000 presidential election (in FL). Apparently, many of the African Americans in her district had been disenfranchised by one of the many ways employed by Jeb! and his pal Katherine Harris. I don't know anything about Fair Districts. My only knowledge of Rep Brown is what I saw in 2000.

Next time I'll pay better attention. Sorry.

I believe this makes 4 (?) Clinton Super Delegates that have been indicted for misuse of funds.

Interesting to see the type of people that support her- just saying Smile

...she is on the Florida for Clinton leadership council. And a member of the BCC that endorsed Clinton.

need to be thrown out on their worthless asses. These are the people that Democrats have defended for years as the "lesser evil." Now, our entire government is filled with these parasites that are sucking the life out of our politics and who are only responsive to their own greed and personal ambitions.

I don't care what your race is, what your gender is, or what your sexuality is. All of this corruption must end. This kind of behavior isn't liberal or conservative, it's oligarchical and criminal. Either our representatives stand with the people or they don't, and those who are only in it for themselves need to be held accountable and permanently removed from office.

The indictment for corruption of a corrupt politician is a semi-strong message to the establishment. She's a fighter! So what? What the hell is she fighting for except her own job security and the wishes of her corporate masters? Screw her, no loss to Congress or the people of her district.

So keep a running count of HillBot pledged super delegates--already reduced by 1% in just a few weeks. That's one less vote against Bernie.

Not Henry Kissinger's picture

"Congresswoman Brown and her chief of staff are alleged to have used the congresswoman's official position to solicit over $800,000 in donations to a supposed charitable organization, only to use that organization as a personal slush fund," Assistant U.S. Attorney General Leslie Caldwell, chief of the Justice Department's criminal division, said in a statement.

Could be a shot across the Clinton Foundation bow.

The current working assumption appears to be that our Shroedinger's Cat system is still alive. But what if we all suspect it's not, and the real problem is we just can't bring ourselves to open the box?
