Here's your OT people
The farce of American politics. Politics just don't move me no more. They are useless here there and everywhere. They have been captured for lack of a better definition. They are gone daddy gone if you actually care or look at what is going down. It isn't like we got here over night, They took a long time to evolve this latest global fuckatude. We are all trapped by the powers that be. Bernie? Nothing seems to be able to put this Humpty together again. On the other hand I like and dream about, maybe we can come together as people often are forced to do and pry this mother fucking blood sucking squid off humanities face. Nothing is inevitable and change is the only constant. Is this cheering you up? I hope not as here we all are facing a present and future that looks like nothing I want anything to do with. Do I or anyone have a choice? of course we do.
I did say I would post an OT that was positive, but man it ain't easy. The way things are going.....So chat your chat and fer god sake get my head into a better space. I'll join you cause you guys and gals have spirit, brains and are interesting to boot. So now for some uplifting stores from the news...
Well hell. I guess having a server in your bathroom where your free to chat with your powerful sociopathic partners in crime about how to both screw people, kill people and generally wreak havoc on the planet is nobody's business. It's personal. So fuck off and do not bother my royal self with this annoying vast RW Republican CT. No I don't hate Hillary, Obama, Big Dog or Daddy Bush or the peanut farmer with a guilty conscience. They are all cut from the same cloth. Habitat rocks but it in no way can ever compensate for the damage done to humans or the planet. Anyway this is my mind set about politics.
About that drought in my birth state CA. I can relate it's hotter then hell here in Oregon. Our Oregon drought isn't yet visible unless you look at the burnt brown that has replaced the green

Here you go. This is what happens if your not rich enough, not well placed enough or dare to 'leak' what's going on. The truth of what this country is doing. An example of what goes on in our lawless prisons. Regardless of the crime you have committed or not. Punishment is the official and social mode today
.http://shadowproof.com/2015/08/19/us-army-punishes-chelsea-manning-for-e...
'After a four-hour disciplinary board hearing, the United States Army has punished Chelsea Manning for possessing books and magazines having to do with LGBTQ and political issues. The Army has also punished her for having an expired tube of toothpaste and for brushing food off the table and refusing to talk to a guard after she was accused of misconduct'
Where am I? I sincerely hope that the rest of the worlds people aren't as idiotic as Americans seem to be. Why except this?
Let some good times roll
And furthermore ......
and blab blab blab.....
So have a good day everyone. And do not forget

good for you
And good for you for posting that video. That reveals that person to be a crazy lady. This has been evident, in her eyes, since she commenced this campaign. Her screws are seriously loose. And who can blame her? All that she has been through. But she is not going to be the nominee. Because she is fucking crazy. Just as Heb is not going to be the nominee for the GOoPers. Because the United Statesian people—even the GOoPer people—are just not comfortable with elevating to the highest office in the land a third weak sperm from that hapless, pathetic, de-evolved family.
"Politics" is a knuckledragging pursuit that has never, anywhere, brought about any real change.
And now, these days, we have "geopolitics." A supremely silly thing. Invented in the early 20th Century by a British imperialist, who was obsessed with "land." And thus, of course, and by its very nature, "geopolitics" is, as is true of all British imperialists: stupid, snoring, blinkered, boring.
Bob Dylan one day Noticed, and then wrote: "the ghost of electricity howls in the bones of her face." Which is more Real than anything any practitioner of politics, or geopolitics, will ever, even dream of.

Good morning.
It's been one hell of a summer. Anyway...

Good Mornin' triv33, nice to see you
How are you?
Helluva a summer. Where did it go?
For me it started with an intense painting class, then softball, then bringing my grandson to day camps, visitors, birthdays.
All things to distract me from my main aim in life and that is de-cluttering my apartment. Got one room done.
To thine own self be true.
I'm good. My summer?
Well...my mom died at the end of June. Her kidneys started to fail eight weeks before and we cared for her at home, the final chapter in the long goodbye. She's finally free.
I'm back to dabbling at art too. I started with watercolor pencils, which I enjoy very much--I love the control. Now I'm trying my hand at alcohol markers, not copics, too spendy, but I have some pretty nice ones that I'm practicing with. I'll get there. lol.
We're de-cluttering as well, but gently, for dad's sake.
Slowly trying to get myself back on the chain gang~
I shave my legs with Occam's Razor~
Good to see you here
triv33. Love the Pretenders. Hell of a summer is right. A Little taste of global warming here in Oregon. We broke records with the temperatures hovering in the mid to upper 90's for months. I've never seen it so brown in Portland. We're back on the chain gang again but I keep trying to break lose. I'm doing a little art myself. Analog as the computer is just not moving me anymore either.
Great to see you, Shah.
I've been putting the computer to a lot of use for my art. I'm watching youtube tutorials for these markers. lol. That's about as far as it goes for me digitally, I need to have the colors on my hands for some reason, feel the paper, that kind of thing.
I shave my legs with Occam's Razor~
I am feeding
my finished art into the computer and using my graphic software to produce it for the net. I don't mind that end as I was a production artist. I'm not trying to create art with it anymore as like you I like using my hands and having direst contact with the tools, colors. I took a magic marker class in art school and had fun with it. The fumes however kind of put me off and I kept leaving the lids off the markers so it got expensive. Oils the last medium I used before I quit doing art, drove me nuts as it's too open ended. A mentor long ago told me it takes two people to paint a picture .One to paint and one with a hammer to hit the artist over the head when it's done. I love watercolor painting as it keeps me from molesting the paper and it's transparency makes over working it a disaster. Keeps me honest and direct. My sympathies for losing your Mom this summer, it's emotionally and physically one of the hardest parts of life to lose a parent.
Thanks, it's still a little unreal to me, living in mom's house
without mom here, but what can I do?
Here's a silly little postcard sized thing I did with Inktense watercolor pencils, I used to recite the poem for my kids a lot for a bedtime story.
I shave my legs with Occam's Razor~
The owl and the pussycat
in their beautiful pea green boat. Nice I like it. I've been scaling down my paintings to fit them in the scanner bed. Great piece. thanks for sharing. Inspiring and making my fingers want to play.
Aw shucks! You're too kind.
Not my usual thing, but i had so much fun with it, I want to do more. I need more whimsy in my life.
I shave my legs with Occam's Razor~
Joy and the light
side are so needed now in all our lives. My art is pretty cheerful despite the fact that I'm such a hostile angry person these days. I have a friend who paints amazing joyful lively colorful images. Someone asked her why her images of prosaic everyday life were filled with light and magic. She said I paint life like I want it to be not like it is. I too need more whimsy and joy in my life. I do have a husband whose makes joyful whimsical music. Good and funny is his criteria for music.
This is Beautiful!
I am not sure if I welcomed you, triv. So please take this comment as my big WELCOME to caucus99%!

I was briefly here before, but then things went downhill fast here with my mom. I hope to be a frequent visitor now.

Good morning, sharazade, ... with regards to Hillary
... politically I can't follow her, on a personal level I can somehow. I wonder, if any of you remember, when she started to always nod her head in agreement when listening to someone in the audience or some talking head journalist asking questions, and also folding her hands to keep "control" of her body language. She didn't do that years ago. Something in her must have made her unbending in her goal to not give up and run for anything in politics. That is somewhat dangerous to her psyche, I believe. I feel some empathy with her. I don't like how she campaigns, but wonder how she actually would govern.
She is definitely nodding too often with her head and definitely choosing her words in a way that people can't believe her anymore (if they ever did before) or feel turned off. I would wish she could just give it up and enjoy the remainder of her days. What is she doing this for? At least Bernie has a real mission and goal, whatever will come out of it. She doesn't seem to have a goal other than to fight against her rejection by right-wingers and lefty Bernie supporters. I think she is so clearly in the know about the "right-wing conspiracy against her", that she just became steeled to breaking point to fight it. What a tragedy for her basically getting rejected by people who don't belong into the right-wing corner. I feel some pity for her. As a Mensch, I can follow her emotional development, although I don't condone it. I wished she could let go. She had gone through too much, imo.
Too sad.
https://www.euronews.com/live
Yes, on that level, she does have my sympathy...
but that will never translate into wanting her as President.
I shave my legs with Occam's Razor~
I never meant to say that it translate for me, just clarifying
here.
https://www.euronews.com/live
My question has always been
why is she runing for President? By that I mean has she ever told us why we should want her to be our President?
I personally find her body language very uncomfortable. I cannot explain exactly what it is about it except it seems stilted and unnatural. I do not know if she believes what she is saying and that is probably the worst of it for me. I compare that to when Bernie speaks and how he uses his hands in a way that is very fluid with what is coming out of his mouth. It is very natural and authentic.
I have a hard time finding a lot of empathy for her and I am a very empathetic person. She has created her persona which is driven by ambition, but it seems to be more of a personal ambition than anything else.

well, to be honest, I don't understand her very well, and
can't follow what drives her. Whatever it is, it's not convincing to me on a personal or political level. But looking at her whole life story, I feel empathy. I wouldn't have wanted to have her life. But then who would like to have had my life?
I guess I am sliding a bit into BS chatting here.
https://www.euronews.com/live
No you are fine, mimi
I would not want to have her life either, but she chose this life.
You are not wrong to have empathy for her if that is what you feel. Your feelings are personal and as valid as anyone else's. No one should tell you how to feel.

I checked my dictionary for the meaning of the word
empathy, may be it's a little bit too strong of a word. The translation was that "you can feel for a person or like the other person". I think I have to search for a better word. I can put her whole life in prospective and in comparison to other politicians' lives and in that context I can feel some human understanding towards her. Thank you for the roses. They smell beautiful...

Because unlike Cornell West
she does want to rule the Empire. History is rife with unhinged Empire rulers some of them female. When she start's lecturing about the process of governance, the book of rules, instead of what she's up to and the nature of her game, it's revealing. I have no empathy for any pol with power. I feel that is a mistake because they are performers who are manipulating your emotions and intellect. It's too close to identity politics which are nothing but projection. The pols I do have empathy with aren't electable and are not good at killing people.
When Big Dog sold the world a boat ride and then empathized and felt our pain, it just made me mad. Noblesse Oblige and cake anyone? Bill is a much better actor then she is. Obama was a master performer huckster and knew how to rhetorically appeal to our better angels but these days he seems to have lost his touch. His lies don't ring true unless he's lecturing us, Don't be sanctimonious folks, this is patriotic torture. Now that they have totally wrecked the democratic process so they do not even bother with the kid gloves. How can you have empathy with the dark side? I can feel compassion for these dark power hungry souls but to emphasize just empowers their agenda.
I was going to post the Performance song Memo from Turner but I chickened out as it was just too ugly and bleak to have any empathy with.....strange when I was younger it did not freak me out. That was a different world a world I stood outside of.
I had the feeling as mentioned in another comment
that the word empathy might not be the right word. Compassion gives me the same translation as empathy. So, I am lost, which word fits best.
I am just at a loss. I came to the US under Reagan, who I thought is a joke, because I really, really hadn't any idea about the US and its politics. Then came Clinton. He was ... oh well... I would know a German word, but not an English one, let's say a smart, slimey schmoozer and the whole political time era is not conscious in my memory. I want since years to read about it, but just couldn't handle it. Then came GWBush. Ok, that guy should have gotten some remedial classes in quite a lot of subject areas. Then came 9/11 and the wars. The mouse trap snapped over the US population and we critters just bleed to death slowly but surely. Then came "the supposed redeemer and liberator" from the dark ages of the GWBush era in form of Obama. Well, that turned out to be "the wrong angel" too. Now we should believe in HRC. Can't go, can't do.
I just have to blind myself out of too much criticism they bring against Sanders, because then there is no reason to believe in anything but a very dark future.
There is just too much negativity all around. Don't want to deal with it. All in all I learned from dailykos and from here. It's just too much. May be one day I catch up on it.
https://www.euronews.com/live
Yeah, my sig line
was from when Dr. West came to speak before our very small Occupy Tallahassee group before he went to a paid engagement at FSU. He contacted us about coming. He spoke for about 15 minutes and when I heard him say that, I knew I wanted it for my sig line at dkos and now at here too. This is the one sig line I probably will never change because I want to see the empire come down too!
Hillary is part of the empire. In fact she is one of the more evil parts of the empire. The last thing I will do is vote for her.
And just want to tell you, your words blow me away in a good way. This is so very true.
Like you said, she is a bad actor. When I watched her lecturing the gentleman from BLM, I cannot believe how uncomfortable it made me. It made me sick. I could not watch it to the end.

Just while common people like you and me

She's like most pols
is a nasty piece of sociopathic work who wants to rule the world. Her connections with The Family makes me think she believes that she's is one of the divinely chosen powerful who are doing god's work. I hope we won't find out how she governs. Maybe she will be the last straw, but these days there seems to be an endless line of oligarchical puppets that are waiting in the wings. Now that they do run the world their arrogance is showing and the crazy right below the surface is no longer hidden. I have a friend who preferred her to Obama because at least you knew what you we're getting right up front. As for the vast RW conspiracy against her I have a hard time believing in her as a victim, it just looks like some political hardline internecine fight. Bush's and Clinton's both locked in a bogus Kabuki show that is hell bent on destruction and death. To me it's just wicked power plays among the ruling class. Money, naked power and paranoid performances for the masses entertainment . They all seem unfit to govern regardless of which false partisan flag they fly under. Which brings me back to Bernie. He's seems to be breaking down the blue red oligarchical team divide and focusing on the crux of the matter. I don't like watching these rule the world lunatic's emotional development, it just frightens me that they have power. Enough is enough as Bernie says. All matters public are now broken down into a wreslin' match of gotcha's and there are no corners just the bloody ring.
Wonderful comment, Shaz
I started comment here earlier that I believe that at least the last three Presidents are sociopaths. I see Hillary in the same vein as I do Obama. Obama joked that he was good at killing people and Hillary joked about killing Qadaffi with a laugh when she said "we came, we saw, he died."
[video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fgcd1ghag5Y]
That is barbaric! It flies so far beyond my beliefs that I cannot accept someone who thinks killing people is funny.
These people are enormously power hungry while gobbling up huge amounts of vast wealth and they still are not satisfied. They are never satisfied. That is sociopathic behavior.
The main reason Hillary is starting to tank has very little to do with the scandals per se. It has a lot to do with her arrogance, hubris and total lack of credibility. It is obvious in her body language. Half the time when she speaks, her body is telling us that she is lying. She really does not like us little people, in fact she abhors us. We are so far beneath her and it shows every time she opens her mouth or points her finger in someone's face like she did the BLM guy.

“Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable." ~ President John F. Kennedy
I don't disagree, just wonder about how much of it
is personal intent and how much of it is a feature of your political system. As I don't understand too much, I admit that the constant argument of people who defended HRC and Obama in the past, pointed out that "they couldn't have governed any other way". I never was able to disprove that, nor had the nerve to get into that argument. If the argument were to be true, then your political system is completely out of whack. And you need to get away from whining about those persons entangled in it and attack the system.
"The Family" thingy I had forgotten. It all comes back now. I just look at HRC and Obama as politicians who either betrayed on purpose, or felt forced to sell out, or never intended to fight to begin with or actually believe in their policies. All of the four options are pretty bad. So, all there is left to do is to get that behind us and try to find someone who is at least willing to fight and change the system. What do people say, if there is a will, there is a way. And if there is no way, then you are in deep, deep trouble.
In the end our emotions are irrelevant. It can't be undone. I just am not able to feel personal hate for either of them, at least not yet. I think I have already turned away from the whole thing. When I watch older clips of Obama I wonder today why I was willing to put so much hope in him. I guess it's because we were so starved out of any sane person, who could talk truth to power and took a stance against the wars. I remember how dependend I was on Keith Olberman for any sane voice. And look what they did to him. I think that thirst for truth and ethical behavior by people in power was the trigger to have hopes in Obama.
In addition there was that typical fallacy that people believe a race stands by default for certain political and social policies. That of course is and was nonsense, but it's hard to say that as a white person, especially if you are a "typical German" (in many minds at least), to a black audience. The fact that saying racism is a phenomenon that is an inate personal attribute of most people instead of only being part of special political ideologies, isn't accepted. I think that is what has been shown over the years on dailykos, but is denied.
Anyhow, I am not looking back. It's over with for me.

Good Morning Shaz
Thank you for this Morning Open Thread and the music. I had a hard time watching the Hillary Clinton video. She makes me exceedingly uncomfortable. Personally, I do not believe the scandals will be her undoing, but more her personality and her avoidance of taking real policy stands . I think the American people are tired of triangulation and want real answers.
Do I hear the sound of guillotines being constructed?

I can sum it up in one sentence.
There isn't a thing about her that engenders trust. But that's just how I feel about it.
I shave my legs with Occam's Razor~
You aren't alone Shaz
The political system is hopelessly corrupt. Reversing Citizen United wouldn't change a thing. It was broken before that.
But that is when things start to get interesting.
The rise of Bernie Sanders and Donald Trump is actually an indicator that the public is finally realizing that the status quo is not sustainable. They are decades too late to realize it, but better late than never.
Once the public starts to face reality, or in many cases rejects reality with obviously absurd fantasy, that's when things begin to change. If you are a history buff like me you'll notice that these the historic turning points that are fascinating.
Wow!
I so totally agree with you. I think we are on the brink of a revolution of some sort. But I am choosing to be optimistic. I see it as an opportunity. That is probably the Occupy in me.
Do I hear the sound of guillotines being constructed?
“Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable." ~ President John F. Kennedy
Change could come in many forms
I personally doubt we'll see a revolution anytime soon. But we are seeing a loss in faith in the current system, both the political and economic systems.
Faith/trust is actually a very underrated element. Losing it can have all sorts of unwanted and unanticipated and unpredictable consequences.
Yes, there will probably be some violence, but I doubt that it will be major. At least not at first. It's more likely that any violence will be met with overwhelming force by our police/military, and a loss of what resembles our civil rights.
The authoritarian/oligarchic nature of our rulers will get more and more obvious. But that also means the extreme patriotism in this country will finally fall out of public favor. As will support for wars, both foreign and domestic. The loss of faith in our institutions will finally extend beyond public schools to the police and military, and to the Wall Street fantasy of retirement via 401k's.
It also means the corruption will get worse.
I agree
the loss of faith in the current system seems to be global. Both Bernie Saunders and Jeremy Corbyn's raising popularity seem symptomatic of people's hunger for reform and democracy. Movements of people interest me way more then leaders of mass deception or rigid systems of order. This country seems too huge, centralized and diverse culturally to have a revolution. A civil war maybe but in a way we're having that right now. wish it would just bust up and divide itself into smaller bio regions. Of course that might be disastrous as Texas would invade the rest of us. I do like to dream of Cascadia but the reality might not be as dreamy as my fantasy. I loved looking at MB's and Marylin's tribal nations maps the other day.
I can't stop posting videos so here's another
Turkey's war against Kurds may backfire
The Turkish government tried real hard to sell their new stance as anti-ISIS, when it was actually just anti-Kurds.
In doing so, Erdogan has plunged his country into what is increasingly looking like a civil war.
The ironic thing is that all this death and chaos might not hand Erdogen's party the political victory it has risked so much to achieve.
And again, the United States
played a big role in the Turks attacking the Kurds at this time.
Do I hear the sound of guillotines being constructed?

I don't get, the Kurds are the only ones
who have had some success repelling ISIS and now they are the enemy? Their crime AFAIK throughout history has been that they ignored the partition by the British Empire and remained somewhat independent.

Good day Shaz and c99er's....
Late start today. Thanks for the OT and music Shaz, especially the "Lonely Hearts."
As to Turkey and the Kurds; I presume the neocons sit in back rooms dividing up Syria to their eventual liking. Another peaceful solution blown by power hungry politicians.
Good to see you triv33, please bring more of your art to c99; soothes the soul and delights the eye.
Great subject for an OT, Shaz--thanks! Haven't
watched the video yet, because it's not working for me (I'm having connection problems) at this time, but I've read a few accounts of her Press Conference, so I think that I get the drift.
Last night on XM Radio, I heard a former U.S. Attorney General (D.C.) [a super right-winger] say that he believes that a Grand Jury could be convened once the FBI/DOJ investigations are completed. He said that it could result in a misdemeanor charge/plea similar to Sandy Berger's/David Petraeus'.
This is also the view of many nonpartisan State Dept reporters that I've heard interviewed on XM Radio. (IOW, these were straight State Dept reporters, not 'opinion' writers.)
I'm skeptical that it will happen, because of who she is. But we'll see.
Allegededly, her handling of the classified material could be prosecuted under some of the same acts/laws that ensnared General Petraeus and Sandy Berger.
Here's Berger's sentence:
Here's Petraeus' sentence:
Interestingly, Petraeus' attorney was FSC's attorney in this matter--David Kendall.
Bottom line, I don't believe 'wild horses' could drag her out of the Presidential Race, unless something of this magnitude does happen. Even then, I'm not sure that she would drop out of the race.
I sorta quit closely following this saga--even though it's interesting to me, as someone who's held a DOD security clearance--when it became clear that some, if not most folks at a certain place, had a tendency to disregard facts, resorting to spouting off partisan talking points, instead of taking the time to ascertain the facts.
Just heard (on XM) that Biden's polling ahead of FSC in some poll. The poll was conducted in states participating in the Primary in months to come (IOW, not including Iowa, NH, or SC). Sorry--didn't catch the pollster, nor which states--but there were quite a few states included in the poll. Florida may have been one of them. And, I don't know "how" the question was asked.
(I'm assuming that it was posed as between FSC and Biden, with no option given for Bernie. But, again, got in on the tail end of the interview, so I'm not clear on that point.)
Anyhoo, the gist was if polls continue to look like this, Biden could be encouraged to jump in the race.
A hearty 'welcome' to triv22.
Great to see you here!
