I had the good fortune to see Hank Ballard
and his big band perform a show years ago. He was ultra professional and the band really rocked.
I think Hank was 16 when he had his first hit record

Sailing into the west...
or was it parasailing? Don't gorge yourself out there Joe!
In West Virginia at the New River Gorge, they jump off bridges with flight suits
On lookout mountain they use hang gliders
Either way we're hoping you're flying high on your trip.

evening lookout...
i've seen bungee jumping off of bridges in wva, but i haven't been there in more recent years to see them jump off with flight suits. pretty amazing stuff. apparently the bridge in idaho is completely unregulated, no permits needed, just show up and jump. i had no idea that this was a thing there and had just stopped to check out the snake river gorge (not far from where evel knievel jumped it with a rocket bike back in the dark ages) when i saw this guy climb over the rail and go for it.
Back when young and cuter I had the chance to go
hanggliding at Nag's Head. I chose to observe (cheaper, grad student then). I watched a friend make a fool of himself, face-planting on the dunes. As it turned out he had an ass, and hit on me at several scientific meetings later on. So laughing at his antics seemed fine.
I have been reading precis of Guccifer2.0 dump. Well-organized, apparently. Trump has a speech tomorrow, and can probably read selected sections out loud. Let the Games Begin!
The most hysterical part (beyond the fact that Billary got more in a 40 min show than a Senator gets in a year, is that Bill averaged 17% more per speech than Hill. LOL. $12/hr. LOL
Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.
The left doesn't want to admit there is a class war
could be written at TOP
As a white person who grew up in an impoverished
majority-minority neighborhood, I just laugh and laugh at all these well-off liberals using terrible identity politics as a weapon. I lived with the advantages of white privilege and felt them up close and personal. I also got to see how poverty was as good a reason as any for the authorities to dismiss and abuse my peers of any race. The problems of poverty compound the problems of racism and screw anybody who thinks we can address either independently.
I don't need some disconnected "liberal" buffoon--of any ethnicity--ignoring the very real intersection of racial (in)justice and poverty to score cheap political points. Fuck them all, white black or other.
Oh the economy is just great on paper
when Kevin Drum uses average income to prop up his argument. But if you use something real, such as median income, then it becomes plain there is a huge problem out there and that the middle class is nearly gone.
Max Kaiser today noticed this article and gave the example of a group of regular people in a bar have a net worth of $10 each. Then Bill Gates walks into the bar and that means they now have an average net worth of $billions per person.

in a sense it is comforting to know that some things never change. kevin drum is still an ass.
Hank Ballard thank you the reminder
It is my fault, mea culpe, for selective amnesia. Could making us angry be part of the plot?

Now don't get getting paranoid.
I realized again today that I am driving around in a car with 50+ sterile insulin syringes and a sharps container. Last remnants of my diabetic dog, other than a three-toed print and a box of cremains. They are pointed toward the SPCA, but I never find the time to combine that in errands. But I better, soon, or disappear them.

OMG. It's been 8 years since our diabetic pooch died and the
other day I came across a lancet I'd used to test her blood glucose.
Don't believe everything you think.
How to React to Headlines and Not Read Into News
Counterpunch has published a fun article that is revealing about "the news" and our reactions to it in these ... post-journalism / full-on propaganda days.

Now *that's* telling it like it is!
I'm surprised. East Asian American observers of current affairs are very uncommon in the media, even in "alternative" media.
