I am so impressed with the way Tulsi Gabbard has handled her role as Bernie's surrogate. She hasn't rushed to support the 'presumptive nominee' like some other fair weather friends but respects Bernie and is willing to let the process take it's course.
Pair this with the news this evening that the Congressional Black Caucus came out against Sanders' proposals to open primaries to independents, and to eliminate superdelegates, and we get a very interesting view of the potential split in the Democratic party.
We'll hear a lot about progressives and liberals working against Bernie, but the CBC has just shown what a self-interested, power-grubbing claque they are. They don't want to share power, and they damn sure don't want a bigger tent in their party. That's hardly liberal or progressive.
Where will the Tulsi Gabbards go in this party, and how many of them are there?
Keith Ellison is a Sanders supporter and named to one of the convention committees (not sure if DNC accepted him though). There are a couple of others also who are more sincere and level headed. I don't think Barbara Lee has endorsed HRC yet, so she may not agree with this also. I wonder if they were not invited for the vote.

Very disappointed in the CBC. Never thought I'd see them advising to vote against best interests. Stunning. They sure are responsible for creating a major generational spilt which I believe they will regret.
Most of the CBC are machine politicians, interested in their own power. It appears (according to Maddow's report tonight) that they view Sanders' proposals as harmful to minority interests. In other words, they want to maintain their power and privileges in the Democratic Party, rather than share it with a lot of new folks they may not feel like they can control.
Millennials have a lot of work to do to take over this country's politics. There's a lot of corrupt deadwood to pile up and burn.
The so called pastors of the black mega churches know what side their bread is buttered on, and many have been in the bag for $hill since before she announced. Given the outsized influence the clergy has in the AA community, it is no wonder Bernie couldn't make any headway with the demographic despite having the better message.
HRC had the black vote locked up in March of 2015. In January of that year she met with 50 black ministers in Des Moines and came away with the endorsement of 28 of them. A freakin year before the first vote was cast! God knows what was promised them, but they delivered her firewall and the margin of votes and delegates to "carry" the nomination.
Houston's HERO anti-discrimination ordnance failed a public vote in part due to the opposition of it by Black churches in Houston. Evidently, some discrimination is okay with them ... just not certain discrimination.
I was really disgusted to see these churches take this stand, but it did open my eyes ... somewhat like seeing the Black vote go toward Hillary.
But their ability to give the Democratic Party cover with liberals and progressives exceeds that of most other selfish insider groups. Over at TOP, they'll be used as an automatic defense against the conservative, exclusionary tactics of the party establishment.

Earlier, I thought she was too young to be tapped for VP, but I'm coming around. That gal holds her own like no other.

CBC does not speak for all its members though.

Are you surprised?

CBC flip side of Clergy

BS, minority interests. Bernie is all about minority interests..
They are willing to sell out their young just to keep a piece of the pie.
They're hardly alone in that

yes, they'll definitely be used, as they always have been....
Really sad to see power so painfully gained, used so recklessly.
