Alpha's Primary Election Live Blog for New Jersey, California etc.
Well, this is the big one!
Despite the DNC & the media's best attempts to shut down the Sanders campaign here it is, June 7th and we are still trucking on towards the convention!!!
I will be posting election return results as they come in as well as watching and commenting on the live stream of The Young Turks election coverage.
[video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jfH6El-CvTM]
Also, I will link the Guardian's live results link here so we can watch Mini-Bernie color in the maps, provided they even have it up with Hillary already having "Won". (Hopefully we don't have to see to much Clinton, I find even the mini version annoying... )
I hope you guys join me for my last live blog until possibly the convention! I was a bit worried about even being up since there was supposed to be a tropical storm coming through but so far just some high winds and lots of lighting and rain.
But I knew I was in for this when I moved to Florida in the first place.
See you at 6 EST!

I love listening to Cenk read online comments....
But when he started with, "Your Momma wrote" I shot orange soda out my nose!

I bought some Belgian ale recently
I might have to tuck in tonight.
If Sanders can pull off CA, that'll be great. Take that AP!

Mmmmm that is one of my favorites! Nothing like a good Belgian

Or a cold day.
Or any day that ends with a Y.

If you can find it, try
If you can find it, try Ommegang. Brewed outside Cooperstown, NY and owned by Duval, so there's a pretty good distribution network. Great stuff, if a little pricey.
I will give it a try if I can find it down here. I am always up

Makes me long for my best job ever. Being paid to drink free beer.
Didn't pay a lot, but the benefits were awesome, lol!

The Guardian Vote tracker is now up in the main body of the post
as well as here.
No results as of yet though for NJ. Polls close at 8PM EST

The AP took a dump with their clothes on.
I was sitting in Lizzy McCormack's, downtown Orlando Irish bar--not the best of ideas while TS Colin decided to rain and wind and lightning like crazy. Still there were people out, bellied up to the bar (including a woman I dated for two seconds...which was momentarily awkward).
The hockey game was on, as well as the soccer match replay...saw the news of Clinton allegedly clinching the nomination, and immediately hit Twitter and went on a drunk tweeting rampage. I tweet better when I'm buzzed, though the likes and retweets weren't as prolific as the one I had when I asked Andrew Cuomo why he was supporting an apartheid state after his executive order (out of the nearly ten thousand tweeps that saw the tweet, only one person actually DM'ed me to send an insult, which was not bad at all).
These people couldn't wait a freaking day to call it for Clinton. That really pisses me off. My Facebook feed was full of Sanders people that were just as angry, and the Clinton fans were silent or trying to keep things a bit calm. No football spiking, which I have to say was actually decent of them (one of my cousins is an obnoxious Clinton fan and she held her fire as well). The Democratic Party loyalist friends that I have were pitching the unity kumbaya thing. Too early for that, I think.
Cenk just went on about the Pam Bondi situation down here. She might be in trouble. Actually, she's in trouble. Which is a good thing. I so hope she gets busted.
I've got to get my hungover self up and head to the center of evil, Walmart--because it's the only place in the current suburbia hell that I live now that might have ice cube trays (it sucks not living downtown anymore). I'll be back off and on this thread.
Ice trays
I bought some for my mother who moved into independent living and her fridge did not have an ice maker. Yeah, I bought them at WalMart. I hope you get the ones where the cube holders are off set. They are easier to empty. Someone came up with a good design.
Do I hear the sound of guillotines being constructed?
“Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable." ~ President John F. Kennedy
I'm a Clinton person
I think that feeling excitement or energy about a candidate is a good thing. I think it's good when people are engaged and invested. It means they care. I felt like the AP's call was about them wanting to get the scoop and ratings, which they probably did. But I know it went over super terrible with Bernie supporters, and I get that. I mean, California was the next day. I think I heard about it at like, sometime in the night. Like around nine or ten? I dunno exactly. I know it didn't make people suddenly love the AP.
No, the Clintons were behind the AP "announcement"
because they were afraid that Hillary would lose in California. So now she can say she lost because people didn't vote for her because they thought she already won.
Do you honestly think that the 10 undecided superdelegates magically decided to vote for Hillary and "anonymously" told the AP. If so, I have a bridge I can sell you.
Hey, everyone's free to believe what they want.
I don't have the money to buy your bridge though.

This one has been trolling since they day
they arrived. And getting more bold with each passing day. There will come the day when they go too far.

Sorry, that kind of insult is definitely frowned upon here. \mod
Continuing the pattern will indeed strengthen perceptions of trolling.
Troll is troll.
“If there is no justice for the people, may there be no peace for the government.”
Yeah, that's what Trump supporters say, too.
Why are you
still running around here being a troll. Your nothing but a troll and yet you are allowed free range to mock what this site is about. You can play it with JtC but I read you loud and clear and seriously why bother other then the sick trill of annoying people who know your full of shit. Please eff off . Isn't that what you want to hear? So go away take Epcot and that sick fuck Walt Disney with you,. No I don't want to look at Aladdin or whatever crap you decide to throw on this website, Surely you can find another place to amuse your sick self.
I find it is better to mostly ignore or even be fake receptive

JTC has already established in a later post after some brilliant detective work that this poster is a paid shill I believe.

What *I* love about Clinton
Is how she will inspire girls to dream of making millions by screwing the working class and murdering foreigners by the hundreds of thousands.
Unsurprisingly, there are many depraved human beings who feel the destruction is worth it.
Glass ceiling broken!

Hope you do come back cybrestike to add your 2 cents
I love your commentary it's straight and honest and entertaining as well. What's the Pam Bondi situation in Florida about? Suburbia is hell but so is the new flight of shit loads of suburbia to the downtown urban centers. What's that about?
Whew! I'm back!
That was a long mission. Had to stop at Walmart, find the ice cube trays (specifically the ones gulfgal mentioned upthread), and stop by any fast food joint (since Applebee's curbstop pickup ended at 9pm). Driving at night in sudden torrential downpours wasn't enjoyable. But luckily I got a nice parking spot and ran inside before I got soaked to the skin.
Is every Walmart arranged differently? Because I couldn't find exactly what I wanted, the staff didn't know where anything was, and where I thought the ice cube trays would be in a logical sense weren't where I thought they were. No People of Walmart this time around, which was good. Funniest thing I saw was a group of kids engaged in an epic toy light saber duel. I did indeed find the ice cube trays, but they weren't the ones I was looking for. But they were cheap and I didn't want People of Walmart to eventually show up.
On the trip back home, I listened to the Young Turks (thank goodness for AUX ports in cars). They had Shailene Woodley (the young lady in those "Divergent" movies) and Josh Fox (2010's "Gasland"). Woodley came off very wise beyond her years. She articulated why she supported Sanders and talked about how the AP early call confused her peers...also how it would affect people who weren't politically dialed in like we political junkies are. Fox spoke about the irresponsibility of the corporate media with regards to the early call. He also talked with Michael Shure about the super delegates and the process of swaying them. And finally they talked about dodgy election results and exit polling not matching the final tally. Great interview overall--I hope the TYT crew adds that to their YouTube page.
I honestly wish we had a parliamentary system. This two party system is totally incompatible with a country as large as ours. The electoral college is an artifact that belongs in the index section of a dusty history book whose sole purpose is keeping the dusty couch in the student union upright. What I'm saying is that we probably need a constitutional convention--unfortunately, that would be a mess for normal people. Because I'm sure that we'd end up with some version of a neoliberal corporate run nightmare. I don't know...it's all messy.
Watching Chopped right now. I love this show...I'm pretty much a Food Network addict. I'll pop back in with TYT around 11pm to see the California results coverage.
Just finally caught up with your post, I am gonna have to check
those movies out, I agree, she did sound incredibly wise for her years. (Man that makes me feel old just saying).
I am 100% in agreement with the desire for a parliamentary system and getting rid of the electoral college's stranglehold on our political process as well as the 2 party system.
Agree with you on the Food Porn Channel too, I am pretty convinced that the sole reason my wife keeps me around are for my culinary skills.
They say the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, but in my experience very few ladies find anything more irresistible than a man that knows his way around a kitchen AND a conversation.
It's what let me rack up the numbers I did in my youth. Because FSM know's I ain't the most handsome guy around.
"I used to vote Republican & Democrat, I also used to shit my pants. Eventually I got smart enough to stop doing both things." -Me
The two Walmarts here that I've visited are laid out differently
from each other, yes. Also, they change things around semi-regularly. Because leaving things as is, is too boring, I guess. That's probably why they didn't know where to find the ice cube trays; someone decided to move them. In summer, my best guess would be that they would be with the seasonal items, maybe even on an end aisle because it's the time of year to promote them.

tonight is going to be excruciating
for those of us on the east coast. I'm so torn between hunkering down here with a bottle of something, knowing full well that I have to be to work bright and early; or hunkering down with here a bottle of something and calling in to work in the morning. Either way, I know that tonight is going to be twice as long for those of us on the other side of the country watching for the results. Bern it up!! I have been invoking the FSM and any other entities who support the 99% - if Karma is listening, she's got some ass-kicking to commence!

too bad NJ is first up
that's probably going to be the worst news of the night.
The only thing that keeps me hopeful is NJ's "Fuck You" attitude
when they feel like they are being screwed.
New Jerseyians are familiar with corruption and nothing annoys them more than being screwed, unless they are getting their "taste".
I just hope enough of them realize how much of a screwing the Clintons have given, and will continue to give, if Clinton becomes president.
"I used to vote Republican & Democrat, I also used to shit my pants. Eventually I got smart enough to stop doing both things." -Me
Yeah, but New Jersey is actually two states:
North and South. Northern NJ gets their news from New York and Southern NJ gets their news from Philadelphia.
I know Philly news reported a few weeks ago that Hillary only needs 98 delegates to win, i.e., they lie just like most news, and Philly news hardly ever says anything about Bernie.

I am so nervous I am nibbling bacon and sipping my first beer

On the upside, I can use this post to prove I am not a Muslim when Donald Trump becomes president (the end result I fear of a Clinton Nomination.)

Truly brilliant!
Bacon goes well with everything - beer, bourbon (bourbon goes well with everything too IMO), soda, vodka, gin... okay, maybe not schnapps. Bacon (baking) for Bernie - or Berning for bacon... Gads, I don't deal with stress like I used to

Hi Fleur!
It's nice to see you here. I agree with you about dealing with stress. I've been on pins and needles all day.
pins and needles would be almost preferable
to feeling my blood pressure climbing - especially every time I read some asinine article about Hillary "clinching" this. Ever notice how the words "clinching" and "clenching" are so similar? My jaw has been clenching something fierce today...
Good to see you too - hope all is well on your end!

What a great idea!
When I was a kid, Republicans used to red scare people, now it's the Democrats. I am getting too damn old for this crap!
I am firmly convinced that you could sprinkle bacon on almost
anything and make it palatable.
Well, anything other than a Clinton presidency that is.
But yeah, cold crisp bacon and colder sweet Pilsners go surprisingly well together.

Man, there's so much happening right now my head is swimming
these last 24 hrs, between the PR voter suppression debacle, the fraudulent AP and MSM lapdogs outright misrepresenting the nomination process and the looming very serious email scandal about to envelop HRC.
This guy's been pretty good lately, huh?
While we wait for the results just wanted to drop this one out there for anyone who missed it today.
"The Foggy Bottom of Clinton’s Muddy Waters" by Nina Illingworth is one of the most intriguing insights into what might be going on behind the scenes right now in the Democratic Party and the various scenarios of how it may play out (thanks to caerus for bringing this to our attention). Involving Obama being in a tight spot regarding his legacy as it relates to a Clinton presidency. Had a 30-40 minute conversation with Bernie yesterday? After reading this long but very worthwhile piece my initial feeling about what the intent of that conversation could have been about changed. Appears the Obama administration might, instead of simply congratulating Bernie for running and asking him to back HRC, be something altogether different. As in, stick around Bernie; yours is the candidacy onto which we'd like to continue our (perceived) legacy, not an embarrassing, corrupt criminal that will make us look worse. What with all the similar campaign energy, new voter surge, massive rallies and outpouring of individual small donors ans volunteers.
Here are some nuggets among many:
There's so much more in this piece but I'm going to have to leave it for now.
What a wild roller coaster this election season has been. One thing is for sure this time around: The Dems have revealed themselves as one and the same with the Repugs, their Neoliberalism is failed RW economic policies designed to protect their 1% donors/masters and they've proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that they won't hesitate to stoop as low as outright voter suppression and fraud.
One more thing: every time Bernie has been neck and neck in the polls he's won. So I'm, "Going to California with an aching in my heart." A good aching.
Best to us.

But thank you so much for sharing it here with us first!

I'm sure that Trump has a complete list
of the timeline of generous donations to the Clinton Foundation and State Department approval of whatever it was they asked for. And he will bring that out in the election if he is facing Hillary. He will also say that Obama had to know what was happening and will push for indicting O as a co-conspiratory under RICO.
I actually think that Obama would be better off if he made sure that Bernie was the nominee.
Life is strong. I'm weak, but Life is strong.
Thanks Mark from Queens
What a long strange trip it's been. From the by-partisan coup in 2000 to this sorry primary election. Can't get too tweaked as who in the hell did not see this coming? I mean we had the
RWby-partisan Bushie RW coup followed by the Obama 'you are the change' bait and switch and now it's into the realm of the absurd. This is not democracy or even a representational democratic republic. It's obvious what this is about so thanks for you reaffirmation.
The alphabet agencies including the FBI are not about to do a damn thing about The Mad Bomber, regardless of her blatant criminality and abuse of the law. What law is left? History now and then by these fuckers has chosen to ignore the self evident truths that humans have developed over centuries. These pesky principles and universal laws are only an impediment to the agenda of people like The Hairball or even worse The Mad Bomber. How surreal to contemplate these two lunatics as our only choice.
There was a purposefullness to stealing the NY Primary intended
to dispirit this movement that has culminated in this moment now.
Yesterday's AP annoucnement, the blatant voter suppression in PR, all the media lining up their non-factual crowning of her nomination, etc.
They've been setting this up for a while, with their compliant and complicit minions in the media primed to do the dirty work on cue. The purposely placed favors and greasing of the editors and pundits to push the narrative early that she is unquestionably the winner, along with the historical weight of the first female bs forced onto the populace, intended to bury any legitimate criticism of voter suppression, cronyism and obfuscation.
Fuck these people, as George Carlin would say.
They're pushing us further and further into a corner. We know what happens when beings feel cornered. Is this what they're getting at?
Bernie must take his fight to the convention. And, he has to have been exploring a 3rd party run, especially given the blatant party corruption rigged against him.

Hillary will go down for this
one way or another. Her first clue that what she was doing on her BlackBerry wasn't secure is when they made her put it in a locked box before she could enter her own office. That BlackBerry wasn't allowed in her SCIF office because it could easily be turned into a listening device. So what did they do? They set her up another location across the hall, outside of the SCIF, where she could check email. She did this for the entire 4 years she was SOS. She's guilty of multiple crimes and like you point out, they haven't even got to the foundation stuff yet. But the FBI has those 30k+ emails she didn't turn over. They were able to recover them from her deleted hard drive, but they also gained to another full copy that were inadvertently uploaded to the "cloud"!!! Unbelievable, but very, very true!!

Oh Thank you for posting that!!!
I just finished reading the whole piece and what great read it was. When you already know most of the details, the profanity only adds to the disgust you feel as you read it. I kept hearing the voice of Mike Malloy as I read parts of it.
I don't like her conclusion, but it may well come to that. Somehow, I just can't imagine there is a way to put Biden in office without the screaming of Bernie supporters literally bringing down buildings across the country. I think that it would create such chaos across the country that it literally might destroy what little is left of democracy in this country. It would certainly destroy the democratic party. But I can't ever imagine the people who voted for and support Sanders would allow this to happen. I'd also like to think that Biden values his own legacy enough that he wouldn't want to be a part of such and undemocratic act. Yes, I realize I'm talking about a life long politician. But really, would some of Biden's character really want to become president under those circumstances? Sadly, we may not have to wait much longer to find out.

I am saying good night, as I already "think" I know what will happen in Jersey, but I really want to know what happens in California, so I'll check out, probably in the middle of the night, the results.
I can't stomach this. I'm going to watch a nice movie.
I always end up watching
NCIS while the votes are coming in. It's on Tuesdays and starts at 9ET here so that has worked out well. It's in reruns now. Tonight: A Marine is murdered at Quantico and Bishop and McGee go undercover as married.
Starting now. See everybody in awhile.
That doesn't seem too bad. Not like the effing Virgin Islands.

I'm still at work because I was too pissed (the American version as in "off" as opposed to the U.K. version, which a number of you appear to be aspiring to. Bacon bourbon sounds yummy, by the way.) about the premature coronation to do much work during work hours, but I can somehow force myself to do stuff when I'm here at the office by myself.
I'm so pissed I literally replied to a Vox article about people just liking Hilary more as to the reason she's "beating" Bernie with this intelligent and thought-provoking quip: "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAH (breathe) HAHAHAHAHAHA!" So immature of me, but I felt better for a few minutes after. I'll be lurking until I finish my work. Happy to see so many pleasant companions!

If you are into some huge in scale gaming, I can't recommend it enough. Everything content wise is user generated and the market is so realistic economists actually have used it as a study and reference!
On a side note, for those of you that game check out this video of game play with actual comms traffic from Eve. (Hey, I may be old but I am never too old for gaming. )

If you are a gamer and decide to check it out let me know and I will get you a free trial invite and help get you set up with some in game assets to get started.

so slow!
need more numbers!
I know, it's brutal the wait. Thank FSM for Booze and Dabs...
lets me engage in my own personal form of "Time Travel".
That and trying to keep up with and respond to all the comments makes it go by too, it's one of the reasons I do these, it helps keep me sane sharing my anxiety with all of you, lol!

57 is a good one, triple 19, and 19 is a sophie-germaine prime
That, in its essence, is fascism--ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or by any other controlling private power. -- Franklin D. Roosevelt --
Har! You're so funny. It's now 339 AM, 60% of Cali is in,
the Anointed One is down to 57.6%, so those are some pretty nice numbers too. Come on, Cali!

How California is being stolen
How California is being stolen
from Sanders right now

Special bulletin from Greg Palast
[Los Angeles] It's not some grand conspiracy, but it's grand theft nonetheless. Sen. Bernie Sanders’ voters will lose their ballots, their rights, by the tens of thousands.http://www.gregpalast.com/california-stolen-sanders-right-nowspecial-bul...
From the Light House.
Wow... Just.... Fucking wow.... They aren't even trying to hide
it anymore are they?
I only skimmed it, but it is damning. I will re-read it though when there is a lull, thanks for sharing it!

This has been known for some time
It's been talked about on the Bernie subreddit. I don't know that these rules were put in place just for this election. It's probably important for people to remember it's a semi-closed primary and to know what that means in terms of ballot rules, but you can request a crossover ballot the day you get there.
I voted today in California
Yes, I had to ask for a Democratic Ballot. They gave me a Democratic Ballot. They were supposed to give me a Democratic Crossover Ballot. Yes, they are two different ballots.
I don't know why there are two separate Democratic Ballots. Perhaps it makes it easier to separate one kind of ballot and have it accidentally disappear. I'll give you three guesses as to which kind of ballot is more likely to be "vanished" and the first two guesses don't count.
I guess the plus side to all this is my vote for Bernie is on a 'regular' Democratic ballot and hopefully won't be "rubbed out"
The people, united, will never be defeated.
My first double post
I feel like one of the family now.
The people, united, will never be defeated.
LoL, Yeah, it happens. Best to sit and wait as long as possible
for either an error page (and even then check to see if it posted) or for it to post. It can take a minute or two under heavy server load.
"Back in my day to avoid a double post we had to...."

I've had double posts where I've done nothing, just regular
posted, then I go to the diary, and behold, two posts!

.04 percent Reporting in NJ, Clinton leads by almost 15 points
but I expect that number to shrink as early/absentee voters tend to trend towards Hillary.

The Guardian live tracker page
doesn't have Bernie's name in the top section. Just Trump and Clinton.
That is because it shows the person currently leading that state
in the tab you are looking at at the top I assume?
It will switch based on whomever is leading the state at that moment.
