David Shuster: If Bernie wins CA, Supers suggest they will switch
Submitted by geebeebee on Thu, 06/02/2016 - 12:55pm
GO BERNIE!
Now THIS is the kind of thing I like to see:
Citing email investigations + comparative polls v Trump, several @HillaryClinton superdels suggest they'll switch if @BernieSanders wins CA
— David Shuster (@DavidShuster) June 2, 2016
All hands on deck to push this. Hillary's corruption, horrible political skills, and sinking polling versus Trump means one thing: If you don't want Trump, Bernie best run as the Democratic nominee. Period.
If this isn't encouragement, I don't know what is!

This is why Lil Nap is in such a whiny fit.
He knows this and his panties are twisted so tight he's squeaking out a diary every couple hours trying to offend more Sanders supporters.
There is nothing which I dread so much as a division of the republic into two great parties.. This...is to be dreaded as the greatest political evil under our Constitution.--John Adams
Who is this "Lil Nap"
and what is this "diary" you speak of? I may have known at one time but have somehow lost my ability to remember why I would care. Strange how the fetid odor of douche baggery and blinding glare of the bought and owned affects one's ability to give a fuck. On second thought I don't want to know. What's the point?

I heard a few minutes of his regular hour every
Thursday on Marc Thompson's Sirius show. He said that it could/would be a landslide for Hillary against Trump and will bring the Senate with her and possibly the House. I'd like to try what he's smoking.
Thompson pinned him down on this. Probability to take the Senate back and possibility to take the House back.
Some people just don't "get it." They don't understand. They're living in the past, last century of politics.
Politics have changed as far as voters are concerned. Many/most/a lot of us have seen through the crap and know what's exactly going on, including myself.
I remember back in 2008, someone republican said something bad about some Democrat, I would get an email: "So and so said such and thus, so send me money to help fight this." The "such and thus" was maddening, for sure. So I sent money -- not a lot, but some.
That behavior on my part is so over, and I don't think they've realized it just doesn't play anymore.
I have missed ...
... the BOOM!
Go Bernie! GO California!
Beat in the USA.
I have missed the BOOM too
Long time, no BOOM.
Is that a leak in that Dam over there?

Seriously though, if this is accurate then it opens the doors for others to switch.
I wonder what they know that we don't? I would be willing to bet dollars to donuts that those SD's have lots of political connections that have inside info on what is going on with the investigation.
Let's grab some popcorn, it's gonna be an interesting few days!

This is also why it is necessary
to ensure the MSM does not call the race in CA before the polls close. The people must be heard on this, loudly and clearly starting right now.

They won't call it early if Sanders is ahead. = )
Phone bankers, etc. need to jump on NJ as much if not more than CA right now.

I am afraid of NJ
and am only hoping for a close race.
HOWEVER, it ain't over until it's over. And 68% [or some like number] of people in the US think that Clinton broke the law with her private server. And suspicions of influence peddling through the Clinton Foundation are popping up here and there, even among people with no real proof.
So who knows?
Life is strong. I'm weak, but Life is strong.
The polls for the last couple of months
have shown Clinton steadily losing her lead in NJ. On the other hand, I expect some shenanigans there. But, wouldn't it be nice....
The scenario: On June 6, Trump proclaims that he has the transcripts and "Boy! Are they juicy!!" = )

NJ = NY
unfortunately. Corrupt on both sides of the aisle. Expect a lot of "shenanigans."

Jersey boy here, and boy you nailed it...
The corruption is pretty endemic and open anymore....
Kinda reminds me of an old George Carlin quote (It's a bit blue, so apologies in advance.) "Kiss her where it smells, take her to NJ!"
If you haven't seen it, one of his lessor known specials that I thought was one of his better ones was "What am I doing in New Jersey".
If I recall it was released on HBO in the 80's... Totally worth a watch. (A listen is good too, but you really lose a lot, Carlin was great at using body language to accentuate his point.)

Remember that line: Bernie will win New Hampshire
because it's next to Vermont.
#HillaryToWinNJBecauseIt'sNexttoNY.
Sadly, I think New Jersey has the most corrupt Democrats in the country, so... she'll win NJ, but I hope the voters can see through the crap and the vote will be close.
I beg to differ with you
My home state of Illinois has had more than it's share of convicted politicos, starting with Dan Rostenkowski, and continuing the glorious plunge to the bottom of the corruption pit with Blago--as well as several other recent Governors. Being a bipartisan state, the corruptocrats have been both Democratic and Republican. Since Chris Christie hasn't been indicted yet (Bridgegate et. al.) we Illini proudly (?) claim the corruption honors.
Isn't it sad that we can have actual debates over which state
has the most corrupt democratic leadership?
This, if nothing else, is indicative of the desperate need for us to build a new party.

Great to see you here Raggedy Ann . . .
Your posts always made my day on LIepar Destin's postings.
Did some phonebanking for CA tonight: Bernie supporters!
Also wandered onto the former MSNBC Maddow program: she has been taken over by body snatchers: Showed Sanders with a 1% polling lead, but of course had to show a 10% poll of "likely" voters for Clinton. Seriously, she is going to lose ratings massively, and any credibility with her followers. My kid, now nearly thirty, listened to her podcasts for nearly a decade: now doesn't bother. I quickly exercised my control and switched to the computer.
But not before I saw a clip of the Clinton holding forth on the Donald: that is her whole f'n message: "ain't it awful" . . . really, a campaign of "glaring statement of the obvious?". A nothing. Sure wish for more indictment news. Seriously: this is mental illness politics.
On another note, so proud of Bernie, and Jane, and the whole campaign. He is showing the world the best of who we are as a nation, and is consistent with the higher order thinking of humanity. What a fine human he is: and the messages of the campaign are so brilliant and deeply moving. Makes all else look tawdry.
Glad to read you here, and so many other revered writers.
Thank you for your kind words, sorrow.
I still comment in the BNR every morning. I'm loyal and faithful to Liepar. He's worked long and hard and is almost to BNR#365 - celebration time! I find it uplifting to try and lift up my friends in the BNR. We cannot give up on Bernie - I still believe he's going to be our nominee.
"The “jumpers” reminded us that one day we will all face only one choice and that is how we will die, not how we will live." Chris Hedges on 9/11
If true, this is exciting news.
However, I do not for a second think the DNC will allow a fair counting of the votes in California. There will be multiple "irregularities" that eventually allow HRC to at least squeak by with more votes. Plus, the media networks have already stated that no matter the outcome, they will announce that Hillary has won the nomination three hours before the polls close in CA. At this point I am just preparing myself for the flood of anger and sadness that I will feel as I watch this corrupt system play out on Tuesday.
They will try
if you are concerned about dirty tricks, and you sure should be, the answer is to keep hitting the phones. get the margin over their ability to cheat. I'm calling NJ too, because it's there.
I think in this case a phone-in bankathon might be in order
in between banking for Bernie, that is. Maybe some calls to switchboards of these "networks", letting them know you're on to them and their "announcement", so if they do it anyway, they're un-American, voter disenfranchising traitors to our flag.
If you've got the time and the inclination, PLEASE: go donate some call time for the Bern, to the Sanders Reddit page, Makhali Overdrive needs you, Bernie needs you and your country needs you. Giddyup!!!!!
Not only that,
calling the race early could depress turnout, which could have an impact on other races -- we've got House seats looking for November contenders, plus an open US Senate seat.
I'm hoping that "calling the race" too early
will suppress Hillary voters -- Hey, she's already won -- and invigorate Bernie voters to have their vote count.
That has been my thought, too.
"I’m a human being, first and foremost, and as such I’m for whoever and whatever benefits humanity as a whole.” —Malcolm X
Could end up with a Dewey Defeats Truman
event in Philadelphia if the networks call the race for Clinton before the convention.
As for the networks calling California before the polls close, the answer to that is to vote early -- check with your local registrar regarding early voting, or get to the polls on your way to work rather than on the way home. California's actually had a decent record of clean elections (though the confusion over who can vote in the Dem primary worries me a bit), and with an open Senate seat up for primary consideration that should hopefully get folks to the polls no matter what the networks say.
There will be exit polling in CA.
Somebody not affiliated with MSM or the political parties is going to do it. That might help.
Life is strong. I'm weak, but Life is strong.
technically should be easy to do
by just quickly jotting down responses at random from voters leaving the precinct. The job is getting a sufficiently-large sample size for as many precincts as possible.
An accurate 5% margin of error would require about 1/4 of the voter population of each precinct for its sample size.
10% margin of error would be even easier, and better than no data at all.
We already know the Clinton camp is actively rigging the numbers secretly inside the central tabulators. Her desperation is so great, the fraud should be easily detected at high margins of errors.

Sounds like they're calling on Clinton
to up her game this weekend -- maybe she'll regret backing out on the CA debate. But they're wavering, which means they could listen to reason, or at least to the murmurings about Clinton's political future.
They need to understand that she has
disqualified herself already, with an FBI investigation looming and by dint of the fact that Bernie Sanders polls better against Trump than she does.
Facts are facts. If those "super delegates" are actual, reality-based people, facts should sway them easily. Frankly, it shouldn't even be about whether or not Sanders wins Cali--the woman is unfit to serve, regardless.
#DropOutHillary
I repeatedly read today that Hillary is NOT
under investigation personally.
LMFAO.
Really?
"Personally" versus...what, "professionally"??
Your guess is as good as mine.
I kid you not with what I wrote.
Maybe the server will be indicted. Who knows.
Edited to add: I'm not linking what I read. It's really not worth it. Please take my word for it.
Oh, I don't doubt you saw that, not at all!
And thank you for not linking to it--I was just kind of repeating it back another way, to highlight the absurdity
Because yeah,
I was over here rather chuckling about that idea. That or, maybe she would try to spin it as "it wasn't ME, it was just THE JOB!" (ya, the job made her do it--hence "personal" vs. "professional"--weak, I know, but that would be so typical!)
Of course, sometimes the absurd spin is to completely deflect from more unsavory bits--to me, this gives a bit of insight into possible discussions had between Hills and that nice IT guy of hers. Mayhaps she had plans to throw him under the nearest bus, and she'd essentially told him as much, and so that's why he got immunity in one investigation and pleaded the Fifth in the other.
Oooof! The tangled webs they weave, jeezus, I'll tell ya....
Passing the buck is easy--pick an excuse
How about "the Server had a mind of it's own"?
Or, the old, reliable: "the Devil made me do it"
Thumbs up.
Since you can't see that I agreed with your comment and don't have anything to add, I thought I'd just tell you I gave you a thumbs up
Asset seizure is all the rage now
And I believe the FBI has recovered most of the deleted contents of the server. Which include Foundation communications, too, I think. Information is fungible. Until someone destroys physical evidence, like the torture photos. But not all. Oops.
Hey! my dear friends or soon-to-be's, JtC could use the donations to keep this site functioning for those of us who can still see the life preserver or flotsam in the water.
I am trying to figure out something...
mainstream media has gone silent for the last two days regarding the investigation and has only carried a few tidbits about her current activities. I am wondering if MSM is busy looking for a way to hedge their bets the same as what I think SDs are doing. It is like they are all sitting around waiting for the other shoe to drop.

THIS is exactly what the
THIS is exactly what the Clinton wing was deathly afraid of and WHY there has been such a hard push to end this primary race before California.
If Bernie wins California's primary (or even comes to close) Supers who are also elected politicians WILL start rethinking their way to early support for the status quo candidate... Especially people in the house.., who's districts voted heavily for BERNIE and who risk aggressive challenges from the progressive wing if they cast their SD vote for her.

Pink slips
It is time we start sending out pink slips to those super delegates. (For those who don't know what a pink slip is: it was traditionally the notice one receives when their employment has been terminated.)

The photo of the Clintons on Memorial day
shows HRC looking especially ill kempt and the puss on her husband is grim. They just radiate entitlement and rage.
Networks Calling It Early after NJ
Sounds like a coordinated effort by the DNC and Clintons to upset Bern in Cali should he be winning, downballots be damned. Another dirty trick cooked up by Bill's febril brain to get around Cali's reputable election's record on the outside and give the nom to Hill. Why the MSM allows itself to be led around by Clinton is a head scratcher.
Nah,
they aren't being led around...
They're producing the copy and reporting that reflects the POV of Management. And said Managers find Clinton initiatives to be most beneficial to their own bottom lines.
WOW...
While reading this, I just got a ROBO call from Clinton asking for money. They are saying they need it to win California! I have donated to Bernie multiple times and have NEVER got a call from him asking for money.
Democrats, we tried to warn you. How is that guilt and shame working out?
Me either/neither (?)
I donated several times to Bernie outside of my automatic monthly donation and never got a call from his campaign.
I've gotten no calls from Hillary -- I don't think. Because when I answer the phone, when I feel like it, from a number I don't recognize, after I say, "Hello," I give the caller 2 seconds to reply to me, and if they don't reply, I hang up.
I got one of those robo calls today too

Thank you NGP VAN
such is my mistrust that living in MA, I mail checks to Burlington rather than going through Act Blue.
Cash-strapped desperation
That's actually corroborating evidence to Shuster's news item, IMO--she wouldn't be doing robocalls at this late date if they weren't worried.
We need to step it up. VOLUNTEER TO MAKE CALLS FOR BERNIE NOW, and THROUGH THE WEEKEND!
Maybe they finally realized
that Bernie is the only one that can beat Trump in November and that he's leading a national movement. I've always thought it says a lot that all of these party insiders need to speak anonymously to avoid reprisals from the Clinton camp. If the people within the party aren't even able to speak openly and freely, what does that say about those in charge and the institution itself?
I think Bernie has more supporters in CA
than Hillary. The trick will be to get them to actually vote and get those votes actually counted.
Life is strong. I'm weak, but Life is strong.
It's the "counting" part that has seemed to be the problem
in other recent primaries.
And don't even get me started about the "announce her the Nominee" even while people are still voting. What the hell is wrong with these people? That's not how any of this works!
What is the definition of "several"?
More than three? More than 30?
There is trickery...
with the ballots. Especially for the independents who will need a democratic ballot in exchange for their blank non declared ballot. "I'm sorry sir/ma'am we are out of those ballots". I think it's a likely story in Bernie districts.
Despite all the cheating (I think we've really won this election) we may still come out with the nomination. I'm hopeful.
Here's a CA theater sign.

these supers have been out of touch with a populist candidate, it never occurred to them to push the brakes until after they crash into a brick wall.
Corporations are not products of populism. Is it even possible to confuse the two concepts? They are mutually exclusive, they both can't be true.
Corporations are artificial financial inventions within the political economy, to accumulate wealth for private investors.

The super delegates can talk all they want before the convention, but they're going to vote for whoever has the most pledged delegates.
Anecdotal evidence: heavy Bernie support in CA
I have been wearing my "Feel The Bern" button since March. No one has made a negative comment. Those who have commented have been very positive. OK, it's not scientific. Whether the MSM "calls" the election for Medusa, or not, most Bernie supporters will go to the polls. Winning CA BIG should convince "super" delegates to abandon
shit...er, ship and get off the Titanic before the iceberg contacts the hull.Normally, I think media spending is a waste of money.
In this case, I think Sanders should be blitzing California with a simple message:
Californians have an historic opportunity to be the ones who stand up and say, No!, and change the outcome of this primary. Incomprehensible and impossible as it seems, there are enough Californians who could and would vote for Sanders, if they believed that it would make a difference, that they could deliver him not only some sort of momentum, but an actual pledged delegate victory. I would be astonished if it happened, but the only thing that makes it "impossible" is an inability or an unwillingness to deliver this message to the ordinary people who for once have real power in their hands.
