Why should the Great Orange Satan benefit from your work? Everyone who has come here should start moving all their old diaries off the site and put them on Wordpress. I've begun transferring my old diaries. Unfortunately, I can't delete my stuff from DKos since they long ago banned me. So far I have two of my diaries on DKos moved over to my new blog on Wordpress: penspages.wordpress.com

As Larry Wilmore says frequently about Bill Cosby, I haven't forgotten.

The United States tortures. It has tortured non-combatants and innocents without scruple or a break (yeah, that means YOU Mr. Obama) since at least 9/11. The reason that the remaining Guantanamo detainees can not be released from indefinite detention, a lifetime behind barbed wire without a warrant or trial, is because they have been tortured and will testify to it under oath in a real Court of Law and not some Kangaroo Star Chamber Secret Military Tribunal which expressly forbids that testimony. In a real Court statements extracted by torture are no evidence at all, except against the Torturers who in my opinion should rot in Spandau for the rest of their lives in the cells that used to hold Nazis.

It's clear that the Corporations of America want us to solve our own Unemployment problem. Wherever we look, we are told to stop looking for a hand-out and instead just pull ourselves up by our bootstraps. We are told that all we need is a little motivation, and just like them, we can make our own money.

Therefore, in the spirit of doing exactly what they say we should do, I am forming a corporation for the purpose of doing exactly that.

Indiana conservatives strive to top North Carolina

Indiana may have lost to the Tarheels in the NCAA tournament, but Indiana Republicans are going all out to prove that nobody is as bigoted as they are.

Sen. Jim Tomes introduced SB 35 in January which prohibits schools from ever allowing transgendder students from using restrooms that correspond to their gender identity...but goes much further. The bill legally defines a person's gender as determined as that which is assigned to the person at birth and their chromosomes.

[T]he bill mandates that any transgender person who uses a public sex-specific restroom, locker room, or shower room that matches their gender identity has committed a “single sex public facility trespass,” which it deems a Class A misdemeanor. A Class A misdemeanor is the highest non-felony charge in Indiana, punishable by up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $5,000 dollars.

The misdemeanor charge would not apply to a student at a school, a person under the age of 18, or the usage of any private residence facility.
