US Border Patrol embarrass themselves
You may have heard that a body called the National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) has endorsed Donald Trump. The NBPC is the union of the United States Border Patrol(USPB) From a union perspective the NBPC is an affiliate of the American Federation of Government employees and via that the AFL-CIO
The NBPC praised Trump for not being politically correct or “subservient” to foreign countries and special interests. They also touted his record of disrupting the establishment and supporting law enforcement. Trump’s immigration stances seem to be the biggest draw for the group.
“Mr. Trump is correct when he says immigration wouldn’t be at the forefront of this presidential campaign if months ago he hadn’t made some bold and necessary statements,” the statement reads. “And when the withering media storm ensued he did not back down one iota. That tells you the measure of a man. When the so-called experts said he was too brash and outspoken, and that he would fade away, they were proven wrong. We are confident they will be proven wrong again in November when he becomes President of the United States.”

This should not sit well with anyone because the USBP are basically civil servants. Moreover they are responsible for the extremely sensitive border issues.
The United States Border Patrol (USBP) is an American federal law enforcement agency. Its mission is to detect and prevent illegal aliens, terrorists and terrorist weapons from entering the United States, and prevent illegal trafficking of people and contraband.[2] It is an agency within U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), a component of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
With over 21,000 agents, the U.S. Border Patrol is one of the largest law enforcement agencies in the United States

There are two issues at play here and I do not know which is worse. The obvious one is that the workers responsible for dealing fairly with immigrants has in effect publicly stated that they are a racist bunch of arseholes.
The second one is a little more subtle and depends upon how we think about civil servants. These workers are civil servants and as such should not let politics affect how they do their job - an endorsement is the exact opposite of not letting politics affect the job. Just to be clear I would feel the same way even if they wanted to endorse Bernie Sanders.
One thing is for sure, the optics of this endorsement are horrible and the whole thing reflects really badly on the country as a whole. In many countries civil servants are not allowed to endorse politicians either through their unions or individually. Even letting slip who you support as an individual can lead to disciplinary measures including firing. Fairness not only has to be done it has to be perceived to be done and these racist numbskulls have made that an impossibility with regard to border control and associated functions.

Just because law enforcement is filled with
racist, bigoted, right wing KKK types is no call for alarm. right?
With their hearts they turned to each others heart for refuge
