We Can Hope!

Some writers, for instance David Sirota at the Lever, are seeing a bit of good news in all the crap coming from United State’s current politics - like the Democratic Party's Moment of Reckoning. Some of the new candidates are ‘radical’ compared to the usual Democrat stock-in-trade, and more of these ‘radical’ candidates are appearing. And that is a good thing.

Sirota begins his article with:

A decade after Bernie Sanders almost tore the presidential nomination out of the decrepit hands of the Democratic establishment, the party’s old guard, ancient political formulas, and outdated corporate politics seem to finally be facing a moment of comeuppance. The long-overdue reckoning appears to be happening not just in a few predictably liberal locales, but across varied swaths of the country that seem ready to embrace populist politics.

Surprisingly, CNN published this attack on the Democratic Party for running a lousy campaign and wasting money on Ossoff. Here's what Drew Westen, a longtime Obama and Dem consultant, and resident in GA-6 had to say:

I confess to being blindsided by the wholesale exuberance with which the Republicans have embraced killing off wide swaths of the undeserving electorate, unencumbered by even ritualistic expressions of regret for the carnage they hope to legislate with their healthcare “reform”. I suppose It must be exhilarating for them to throw off the weight of the pretense of humanity they have shouldered while living and moving among us these last few decades.

I've been waiting to see how much progress the various groups attempting to reform the Dems - Our Revolution, Justice Dems, Brand New Congress - would make before finally throwing the towel in. For the simple reason that if the Dems could be taken over by the voters then our path to overall victory would be much easier. If.

My Saturday morning epiphany has certainly been a long time coming. Only now, very late into the endgame, do I realize how far behind the curve I have been, and how I have been willingly exploited by people far smarter and more ruthless than me.
