Continuing COVID Confusion

Discussion of the lab leak hypothesis on the origin of the pandemic is finally allowed. Is that because it adds fuel to fire a war with China (even though the US provided funding and support for gain of function research in Wuhan)? However, interestingly use of ivermectin as an effective treatment is still out of bounds and unacceptable. No, TPTB are suggesting an third dose of vaccine instead. Speaking of vaccines, I must admit it was nice to gather with old friends last week. We were camping outside, and I think everyone was vaccinated. About thirty folks gathered at the Florida Faux Festival, and our usual cadre of ten or so camped together. Made lots of music, and I feel like I'm getting my musical feet back. We also got in an eight mile canoe trip on the Suwannee, and went to four different and unique springs along the river. It was my first real dip back into normalcy since the pandemic began in earnest March of '20, and it was as refreshing as diving in the springs.

Musical Chairs

I'm in Florida this weekend with my folk festival buddies here on the banks of the Suwannee River. The festival isn't being held this year due to COVID, but we're all vaccinated and decided to just have our own minifest. In addition to playing music, we'll canoe, swim, hike, and bike around.

We all travel a musical journey as we age and are exposed to different genre. I like almost all music, and can appreciate most of it. So today I thought it might be fun to look at my journey and perhaps you might share your music foray into your favorite pieces.

Protecting the Dying Petrodollar?

It has been fifty years since Nixon took the USD off the gold standard. He had to because we printed so much money to pay for the Vietnam war, we didn't have the gold to cover the currency which had been issued. Oil prices soared in '73 when the US supported Israel in the Arab-Israeli war, and the Saudi's led a US oil embargo. However, in '75 Kissinger cut a deal with the Saudis to only sell their oil in USD. Additionally, Saudi and OPEC oil profits would be recycled back into the U.S. by buying U.S. assets (Treasuries, Stocks, Real Estate etc.) and U.S. weaponry. And so the petrodollar was created... and anyone who challenges this system faces the wrath of the US.

The Sickness of the System

I had prepared another essay focused on the petrodollar, but after seeing the following presentation last night, I'm changing gears. Dr. Pierre Kory explains so well how the "for profit" sick care system is controlled by big pharma. I assure you this is a well spent hour. Sugar, the Tobacco of Our Time

Dr Robert Lustig has tried to warn us for years about the dangers of sugar, particularly the fructose portion of table sugar. His presentation, "The Bitter Truth About Sugar" from over a decade ago, has been viewed many millions of times. His big push is to promote the consumption of Real Food rather than the processed junk that comprises the standard American diet (SAD). He had a discussion this week with neurologist David Perlmutter.

Life and Death

Today is my Mom's 89th birthday. Her senior center wisely doesn't allow visitors. So I've rented a nearby picnic pavilion at a city park. The immediate family is gathering there for a brunch and party. I'll meet my 10 week old great nephew, Memphis, for the first time. So new life and old life in the turning of the cycle...it is the way. Today I want to look at our ill health system and revisit our response to COVID, the disease that has turned society on its ear.

The insane US strategy of picking a fight with the Bear and the Dragon...at the same time...is a terrible mistake. We've become a desperate empire flailing around trying to maintain our dominance with military might. Recently Ukraine threatens Russia with war. In response, Russia moves troops within its own borders and the US slaps sanctions on them...in part for their supposed hack into SolarWinds. It is interesting that there's been no mention of Israel hacking Iran's nuclear facility. Part of the reason Julian is being tortured in the UK is because he revealed the Vault 7 CIA program that allows our spies (ie mafia) to make any hack look like it came from any country we want to blame. These are the very people that claim it was Russia hacking the US. What is the deal? I think it is all about oil.

Growth?

There are many types of growth, economic, personal, plant, and so on. We live on a finite planet but have an economic system based on infinite growth. Something must give... probably both the economic and the environmental systems. I guess we are crisis based creatures, but it sure would be nice to head off the impending collapse before it arrives. I featured Mark Shepard's farm a couple of weeks ago, and here he is again discussing his ideas to transition into sustainable agriculture. (30 min)

Mark is a well-known farmer that specializes in permaculture and perennial agroforestry food systems. He has developed an incredible farm in Wisconsin over the past 26 years, written books, taught and helped farmers around the world.
