Sonny Terry

Album of the Week 7-20-24

Afternoon folks!

Anybody out there enjoy blues harmonica playing? If so, it's a good weekend, there's a nice french compilation double-disc set of Little Walter and an album of crusty 1940's recordings of Sonny Terry - some of them with Woodie Guthrie. After that we've got an album of r&b from The Chambers Brothers and a change of pace with Malo. If you (like most folks) have never heard of Malo, if you enjoy Santana, you'll probably dig Malo. After that, we've got some blues rock albums from Robin Trower and ZZ Top's second album. We finish up this week with a fairly obscure album from Traffic.

Enjoy the tunes and have a great weekend!

Album of the Week - 1-14-23

Afternoon folks!

I uploaded a bunch of cool stuff this week, and I added to the collection of Jeff Beck stuff that has been accumulating as I dig out and clean up albums.

There's a Brownie & Sonny album, some Hot Tuna, a few cuts of Professor Longhair from a compilation, a live Flying Burrito Bros. album (later in their career without Gram Parsons), one of The Band's later albums and an album by Rory Gallagher.

Then there's two Jeff Beck Group albums that I just uploaded this week when I got the news of his passing, an album with Beck, Tim Bogert and Carmine Appice, a live album with Jeff Beck and the Jan Hammer Group and an old Yardbirds album that I uploaded a while ago.

Have a great weekend and enjoy the tunes!

Album of the Week - 10-22-22

Afternoon folks!

This week there are some pretty diverse selections for you. There's blues by Brownie & Sonny (with Earl Hooker), Johnny Jenkins and a compilation album with a bunch of great bluesmen on it. There's Bill Withers Live at Carnegie Hall and blues rock by John Kay & Sparrow (an early forerunner of Steppenwolf). For some real diversity, there's Richard & Linda Thompson and an album by a bunch of sidemen called The Section.

Enjoy!
